hopefully that will work! over a year ago on the J train in NYC

on the J train in nyc. let me tell you that pole was DIRTY! lol
-
yeah, my goal is to stretch everyday but it doesn’t always happen!
I dont know if I will be off work in time for the chat tomorrow, but I am making it a goal to impress all of you with my stretching diligence next week, even if I end up working again https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif hope it’s a great chat tomorrow, maybe I can catch the end!! -
this is great!! i really need to work on my flexibility and have been trying really hard to stretch regularly. A lot of my moves aren’t so visually stunning do to my average flexibility. How long and how often does everyone stretch for, or what would be a good guideline or "stretching schedule" for a girl trying to get that dancer flexibility https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

my tips? train your glutes! your booty is the largest muscle group in your body. More muscle=faster metabolism!
Thats my training "secret"!and of course lots of cardio! lots of cardio and lots of vegatables! Good luck!

Here’s what I did: I emailed my mom my favorite video of pantera (just search gravity defying pole dancer on youtube)
My mom’s response: I fully support you pole dancing! Its gymnastics on a pole!
That video has helped me change a lot of opinions on pole dancing! -
Glitter, if you ever do make a bra line please include small band sizes!
I am a natural 32F and the 32 part is too big for me but 30s are too small. Its not that I am ridiculously tiny (I wear a size https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif but the back of my rib cage is tiny which makes finding bras very depressing!
It’s also really frustrasting when I finally do find a brand that makes bigger cups but they don’t have my band. So if anyone out there knows a brand that does please let me know!
Does anyone else have this problem: you finally find a bra spend all your money on it and then in a month it dosent fit anymore? Lol happens to me everytime…
Fake boobs must be fun though! Less um, effects of gravity https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif -
No call him a manwhore!! it’s fun and theraputic https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif…I just wanted any girls out there know that you are not a slut, promiscous, whatever just because you have something, because if you only knew how many people who were soooo responsible and selective with who they slept with and still contracted STDs, it just dosn’t seem fair! They are just so common and many transfer skin to skin, that yeah what an idiot for not using a condom with a random chick! Just wanted to point out that sluttin around isn’t the only way to get an std (obviously in your case and in soooo many others) just the easiest https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Also, I am so glad to hear your biopsy came back fine! I was reading from my phone so I hadn’t seen that post! That is wonderful! Keep up your positivitey know you have lots of support and I don’t know if you are into any nutritional or natropathic medicine, but there is a lot of amazing products out there that really do work miracles (I’ve meet these people and it’s incredible) so I am going to post some stuff soon just in case anyone is interested…

yup! I love all the different ways girls (and boys!) take on the pole with their own lil twist! But I have been trying to add more dancing when I practice! Just for fun!
Maybe it is the skybox, but good point, it’s kinda like you shouldn’t buy a bargain tattoo lol. Thank you for the recommendation I am definitley going to look into that school, probably right now! If I didn’t have to work or worry about money I would take classes like that all day! so I am going to start finding ways to do it, even if I can only save enough for like one class a month. Can’t wait to get back to the city! I’m getting too excited! haha and I miss my pole! -
I never would of thought of that! Thanks selling it if necessary would be a great idea. Because if I did find an apartment with super high ceilings, I would HAVE to invest in say, a 14ft spinning permanant pole!!! i get excited just thinking about it!! Great to know I have options…
Yeah, sfactor seemed like it is a lot about helping women be confident and comfortable with their sexuality (with is great!! Our culture sexually represses women! but that is another rant tehehe) and not as much crazy pole work which is what I am into! It’s pretty funny, because I am very comfortable in my sexuality, comfortable talking about all aspects of human sexuality, shake my ass when I dance (kinda all I know how to do lol), but when I pole dance, I am all about the tricks! But I definitly see the benefit of floor work, sexy moves, in pole dancing: it gives you some time to breath in between all the crazy tricks! haha
I think it is my former gymnast, diver, trampoline addict childhood. I just love to be upside down!
Also, when I first started lessons at crunch you have to share a pole and only have limited time so when it was my turn I was just trying to practice as many tricks as possible! haha
But I am going to try to go to one of the advanced crunch classes when I get back. I have never been to one (except my first class by accident so I didn’t get to benefit) but I might as well I am still paying the membership!
Let me know if you find another good studio, I also plan to try out a class at the Trapaze Tent (i think that is what it is called it is in williamsburg) which has all sorts of circus arts classes for WAY cheaper then the one in manhatten. A beginner class where you get to try all the different equipment for 2hrs is $25! sunday 4-6 -
thank you love! you are all so helpful!!
-
i hope i will be back in the city by the 28th! I should be!
-
Thanks for the info! Unfortunatley with a down payment there is no way I can get a new pole but I’m sure I will figure something out!
That is the great thing about brooklyn, lotsa space a cheap rent!!
I have taken a few classes at shokra but I think a LES pole jam is a great idea! We should definitley try to get that going for sometime in the near future!
I am still a member at crunch but haven’t been there in forever I had been working at david barton’s gym but since I quit there I will be back as soon as I’m back in the city (taking a month off to save money at home! Makes it even better that home is south florida and it is feb!)
I am going to check that link right now!
Oh and how is sfactor? I imagine it would be amazing! -
Yes thankfully they would be fine with a permanent pole! Do you know how one goes about that?
Where in nyc? I’m in the bushwick area off brooklyn. I used to take classes at crunch but once I got my xpole in may I have just been wingin it myself but I would love to take classes especially at an actual pole studio, they are just so expensive! -
I’m sorry you had to go through all this! But please do not beat yourself up over how you got hpv. It is so common now over 1 in 2 women have it. Also, you don’t have to be a ‘manwhore’ to get an std.you can also contract it without actually having sex. I have it and have had biopsys also. When it came back possibly cancerous, I started taking noni extract after a customer at my work had told me that his wife had cervical cancer and the noni cured it. My next biopsy came back normal.so I would definitley recommend it…I will also ask my ‘health guru’ if there are any other things that could help, stay strong! You are in all our thoughts and prayers!

last time i danced i climbed upside on spin mode for a while and the next day my hamstrings were sorer then they usually are when i go to the gym and do heavy squats!!!
deadlifts are also really good for the hamstrings but make sure you are doing them right cause you can hurt your lower back.
i am definitley going to start practicing side climbing which i have been neglecting because it is so much harder lol but i really want to learn the knee hold and i know my lower body is stronger then my upper body…..we will see!!! -
My number one eating healthy advice to every one is to try to eat as much leafy green vegetables as possible! iceberg lettuce dosn’t count!lol! kale, chard and spinach are my faves. whatever your goal, they are the most neglected yet most important things to eat!
-
lol this is so true, moves are so different person to person! i can climb upside down, do gemini to scorpio (or vice versa i’m not sure which is which) switch, butterfly, all of those no problem, AND on spin mode too! but i can’t chopper!!! not for the life of me! lol i have been working my abs extra hard in the gym to try to get it!
-
my pole has only left indents in the paint which can easily be fixed when u move out if u are a renter! I am just going to lightly sand over it, but honestly i dont think my landlord will notice! i think this also has to do with my guy friends playing around on my pole! they are a lot stronger/heavier and on spin mode they really put that pole to work!! i am sure u will be fine and will be able to get your security deposit back with minor touch ups!!
-
you are amazing!!! that is my goal to flip all over the city!! how long have u been pole dancing for?
-
totally right, to be able to see the muscles of the six pack you’ve got to have a pretty low body fat percentage. Which definitely involves diet, but also total body weights (focusing on large muscle groups) to rev up your metabolism and cardio.
speaking of abs, anyone have a good ab routine that would help with pole work? particularly for doing choppers, i still cant do them even though i can invert! I already do the hanging "pole up" pole sit up things but it would be super awesome to here what some of u advanced girls do! -
speaking of shoes…. does anyone know a good pair of boots for dancing? I tried dancing in a pair of boots that i have and i loved the momentum that the platform gave me but the buckles ended up cutting my shins up. I am not a heel kinda girl and really like the "hardcore" looking boots……

if you bring in any playbill (i used one from school and it wasn’t even for a full play just 1 act we had as an exam) then it is no initiation fee, 50 a month, month to month so no contract and you can go to any crunch in the manhattan n bk which is cool cuz then you can go to all the classes! I signed up at the location on 12th st and 4th ave with dawn she is very nice! they also have classes at that location. there is also another really fun class called anti gravity yoga which i think if you like pole you would probably enjoy! if you actually sign up go to dawn and say my name, i will get a free month hehe
-
There are a bunch of crunch gyms all over the city and i think about 4 that have pole classes. Getting a membership there is the cheapest way to go about lessons in the city. i have an actor’s discount where it is 50 a month for all of the gyms in the city, but you probly wouldn’t want to join if you are just visiting! if you go to their website i think you can print out a free day pass. There is a dance studio on 28th and park called shokra studios and they have classes that are 20 dollars each (i think you get a discount if you buy ten at a time) and i went there twice and it was fun, but it was a very beginner class. If you go there go to Marlo’s class, she is an amazing pole dancer and she does this thing called polerider (look it up!) which is pretty amazing. I haven’t taken classes anywhere else in the city because they are all a lot more money but there is new york pole dancing, s factor and of coarse exotic dance.
