MemberOctober 27, 2014 at 11:14 pm in reply to: How do you beat the ash monster when polingMy method is sort of similar to Lucca’s. (I can advocate the excellence of glycerine as I use it in my natural beauty routine from time to time.)
I exfoliate as well at least once per week but you may need more or less. If I do it too much it takes off my self tanner (I’m the opposite of you – pasty white!) 😛 I don’t always exfoliate in the shower. Instead I do dry brushing because it is so beneficial for stimulating blood flow and removing toxins.
For moisture I give myself a massage of warm virgin coconut oil up to daily, sometimes every few days – again can vary for you. I let the oil soak in for 10 minutes or longer while I brush my teeth, get my clothes out, etc and then hop in the shower. I use a gentle soap to get off any excess oil but the moisture has absorbed into the skin at this point and you won’t need any lotions or oils when you get out of the shower. Works like a charm and has really healing properties.

My pole is in the center of my living room along with a huge Infrared sauna which is perfect for warming up before stretches. If you have to keep your pole in the living room but want a semi private space you may consider putting up some ceiling hanging curtains, foldable privacy screens or even make your own screens if you are handy. Get creative, there must be a way for you to be comfortable!

I’m also interested in this, I’m looking to move down from a 45mm to a 40mm. I have smaller hands and find one handed spins nearly impossible on a 45. Maybe that is dramatic though. 😛

Mine was in my living room, people are either curious about it, ignore it or ask if I can teach them something. I’ve never had a negative response and I think it is a good opportunity most times to educate people on the wonderful world of pole sport and dancing.

Just wanted to let you all know, the pole has sold. Thanks for considering buying from me. I will delete this thread in a few days once you have hopefully all seen that it is gone. Happy poling!

TerriLynn, I’m at Front and George Street South in the St Lawrence neighborhood, the map puts you at about 50 min away.
Tigerschic, it will fit standard ceilings with out extensions. I’m going to try to sell to one of these girls local because I don’t want to sort out shipping but if that falls through I will let you know ASAP.
Cherished, I’m going to reply to you privately, thanks for the msg.
Thanks to you all for writing! 🙂 I’m running out of time so I’m going to have to sell to the first person I can make set arrangements with (Date/Time of transaction). I will keep you all updated here on this thread, again thank you!

I want to try to sell locally, shipping that far would REALLY raise the price and might slam you with importation fees. 🙁

The barres are listed for $300 and the pole isn’t priced yet. I need to talk to my husband first.
It is a Stainless Steel 45mm Xpert with all original parts including the carrying case. I am pretty sure the extensions I have go up to 10 ft 11″ or something like that but at the very least they will go up to 10 feet (that is how high my ceiling is now.) I’m currently kicking myself because I can’t locate the instruction manual and order form in this moving mess. 🙁 Good news is the instruction manual at least is online!

Thanks for passing it along Lola! I know what you mean about apartment space. I converted the dining area to sneak in my pole area. 😀 Tee hee

I’m also curious as to if any of you name your pole? I name everything. I call the voice in my computer that tells me the time Jiles, he is like the butler. The fridge is Martha and she beeps at me in a bitchy glare if left open too long. My pole has had a name since day one. He is Mr. Skinny, the sexiest slim dance partner I’ve ever had. I like to tell my husband that I’ve got a date with Mr. Skinny and it is going to get steamy but he can watch! 😛

First of all, I wish I could hug you all and tell each of you how incredible, powerful and inspiring you are. I read the entire thread and it was worth it!
I’m a stay at home wife for the moment. My husband needs A LOT of support in his work from home (online pro-poker player with crazy hours) so I keep us, our health and his career supported. Other than that, I have studied so many things and not found them to be worth it for my own self growth. Marketing for a semester in Texas, Marine Biology for two years in Hawaii and more recently in Canada I was studying to enter the print industry. I’ve let go of all of those things to follow my passions for real.
Pole taught me to love my body, then along came yoga and I’m hooked! I’m in the middle of preparing us for yet another international move as I have plans to go get my yoga teacher certification from a school on the Gold Coast of Australia. I love to work with vegetarian food and believe that with the support of my husband I can give back to the world through education on healthy organic food and all types of movement. I share food inspiration via Instagram right now but have plans for a food blog and eventually a cook book, even if it just an e-book. I don’t know, I guess I’m just a granola crunchy, hippy dippy, crystal loving yogi in a modern paradox. 🙂

Instagram is an application for your cell phone. From the app you can search for the usernames that everyone listed above 🙂 Yummmy health food for the win!

@vegetarian_poledancer
My page is health food and pole fit. I was thinking of splitting into two accounts or just focusing less on food. Do you all prefer to follow pages with variety or that are pole focused specifically? When I follow I usually find focused pages yet I don’t have one focus, I’ve got two! Confusing.

Thanks ladies, I appreciate the extra insight. I am looking forward to checking into these suggestions. It sounds like there is enough variety for me to find someone in this large city that can safely focus in on the specifics of pole. I may also look into some of the opinions of cirque trainers I worked with over the Summer. I hope everyone sees the importance of training safety on both the ground and in the air. I mean, we are stunting both in pole!

Thanks Koidragon, I had a feeling!

I'm in! I needed this push and this challenge is going to get me a cute picture. 🙂 Will start a progress album today with my starting point. Happy splits!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find fall training in my area? I live downtown Toronto so I'm sure there must be something here but I wouldn't know where to start looking. Where do I find the cool parkour kids? 🙂

I'd suggest thinking of it in terms of packing for your trip. Grab a few sets and single pieces that you can mix and match that way you have more variety for your trip/how you are feeling and to take to burlesque class. 😉 I would try on a different styles before fixating on colour, pattern and embellishments. If you get some things that you feel like are rocking those curves, the rest will matter a lot less. Besides, you are the star of the show! Good, luck. I hope that was somewhat helpful and a HUGE congrats on getting married. <3

Hahaha I laughed so hard and had to post that on Facebook. That will be me one day! <3 LOVE HER.

I think this is something more of us should be passionate about and aware of if we want to increase the longevity of our bodies and our ability to perform at peak, or at all! Thank you for sharing and doing to leg work on this. I am looking forward to hearing more and learning from your mission. Best of luck to you, and again, thanks so much for the safety reminder! 🙂
