interesting to read this Veena, i too have cold dry hands and my little minx stainless is so slippery to me unless the humidity is up. I have been looking at the xpoles now that they are going to have a ceiling adapter for my vaulted ceilings. Luckily before I make my choice I will get to try both the x pole chrome and TG at Empy’s.

i had to google it…ok sort of an open leg plow. The roll up your foot get up would never work for me with heels. Your feet don’t bend that way in heels.

Hi amy, I have all of Jamilla’s and would be willing to loan them to you. However my copies of the art of pole are all PAL, they play on my computer, but not my DVD player and you might have the same issue depending on what kind of dvd player you have. Ironically they play in my kids cheap portable dvd player, go figure! I also have Routines 1 and Tease. She does have a wonderful way of breaking things down.
Tease and Routines are pal on one side and ntsc on the other.

I have a stainless steel lil mynx and it is sooooo slippery. That seems to be the story with stainless steel though. I’ve heard the powder coated are grippier than stainless, but many people have said that they aren’t as grippy as chrome or of course brass. Do you know what kind of poles you learned on in your classes? I learn on brass at my studio, then come home and attempt the moves on my pole and slip and slide everywhere.
One thing I’ve noticed with my lil mynx is that it is virtually impossible to do anything on it if it isn’t really warmed up. The difference is night and day. Spend about 15 minutes warming yourself and the pole ( I do walking and spins to warm it) and that will give you much more grip than you had when it was cold.
Good luck!I so feel your pain on this one. I’m a superstar on brass. On my own stainless steel LM I look like an idiot half the time. Unless it is a nice humid day out and I don’t have the air on. Then I can finally stick on my pole. Have danced on chrome, it is better then the stainless but not as good as brass for me. Powder coated is the only one I haven’t played on.

I’m lucky my kids sleep like the dead, so I can pole when they are asleep. However we eat dinner late and most of the time I don’t feel much like it. Bumping up this old thread because I LOVE wigs.
I have a favorite store downtown and I can’t seem to get out of there without buying 2-3 luckily I don’t go there often.
for helping keep them in place while dancing I use double sided tape found in fabric stores to help hold costumes in place. I have only once had a problem with one coming off and it was while doing a plow into a roll over, I think it got caught under my shoulder.

I have 0 internet access at work. I access on my cell, but only on breaks because getting caught on your phone is grounds for termination. They even monitor how much time we spend on the intranet checking our schedules and paycheck info!
Hubman is a civilian contractor for the Army, he can’t even get on Victoria’s Secret. I think for learning some of the inverts they might help me on my slippery Minx. Really dry flakey skin is just like having talcum powder on your skin so you actually do not grip as well.
yeah tell me about it, been fighting this as long as I’ve been poling.
I use lotions or oils on nights I know I’m not going to be poling. Aloe on days I am. Corn Huskers right before I pole.

very interesting thread, and great results ladies!
My front to back splits (like what chem was doing) are pretty good. If warmed up usually I can get all the way to the floor unless my right hip is acting up. Cold I can get within a few inches of the floor.
