I just watched thier recent performance – WOW!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif I was incredibly proud of them. They did an awesome job, I loved thier style. Its nice to see pole dancing on a mainstream talent show. Makes me want to audition for Americas Got Talent next year. Theres a talent show on a Speed Channel here called ‘Fast Track to Fame’, where race fans put on a Talent Show at the track where the NASCAR race is. I soo wanted to do it when it got to my area but I didnt get all of the info and I would of needed an X Stage.

Im all studio trained. I take my classes at Xpose fitness. Thats where ive learned most of my stuff but I do venture out and try new studios as well. I love having a class b/c I focus on what I need to do. Also its my only break from my kids, if only class was longer than an hour. I also wish I had a pole at home to follow up on what ive learned. Ive been poling for 4yrs but I feel like Im far behind from girls who have been doing it as long as I have. Plus when my husband is working late (most nights), I dont get to work out. So I have to miss out. I just keep thinking I could be USPDF worthy but I dont have the time to pole to get that awesome.

I just wish I could pole more often and with others. Im the only one out of my regular friends who poles, all my other poling friends ive met from here and taking class.

Sometimes I feel a bit spolied when it comes to the studio I go to. We have 2 rooms in the studio – one for pole and one for floor/chair. There is also a changing room/bathrooms/lounge area. That has a sink w/a few on the go ammenities (spray deodorant, soap, baby powder etc), theres also a love seat and coffee table. They have now started offerering a mini spa since some of the instructors are certified in cosmetolgy. They have a massuse (sp?) who comes to the studio a few times a week for massages. That is all offered to the clients. The pole room has 20 poles and one wall has long mirrors. The floor/chair is a larger space that can fit a large about of women in for class. I actually love everyone that works there and most of the clients as well. In the hallway there are pictures of clients from past events and past instructors as well. Im even on the wall as well.

I love everything about Xpose. Is there a few things I wish they had? yes of course. I wish for some later classes during the week. Last class is 7 or 730 depending on the day. I also thought that if I were to open my own studio, I would like to put a childcare in it. I know alot of women want to go but cant find time b/c they need a sitter. If there was a fee of $3/kid/class I think morning classes would be a bit busier. I used to work in a child care for a gym so I know about the ins and outs.

I dont know about anyone else, whenever I hear a Ludacris song, I just want to start booty pop! Low by Ludacris is perfect for that.

I was thinking of using My First Song by Jay-Z for my audition music for Polarity. I love the opening notes.

    Lapdance by N.E.R.D
    Spazz by N.E.R.D
    Rockstar by R.Kelly feat Ludacris

I love rap and hip hop! It weird b/c most folks think im just one of those ‘soccer moms’ but I really love jam to rap and rock in the mini!

We all started somewhere and I can tell you that each and every one of us sucked. This is not something where you just walk up to a pole and you instantly rock it! It all takes time and practice.

yes thats right! I still get days where I get really fustrated at learning things. Dont give up!

um…. i’ve seen a lot of bad pole studio management. unfortunately just because you have a passion for pole, or see a business opportunity, doesn’t mean you have business savvy. it seems like the studio would be best served (and be able to best assess teachers) if they waited until the poles are up. i totally udnestand you are excited to teach but i would be VERY wary of attaching myself to an establishment that can’t get their #@$#@ together!

…that being said… you should be able to put together a cute floor mini routine or floor + wall and be prepared to teach that. stick to super basic stuff like a stripper push up (i dont know what else it’s called… when you’re on your tummy and you get up by sticking your butt up first as you push back with your hands) and a little leg work series. work on the walk! getting them to swing their hips. somethign along those lines.

I totally agree! I would feel weird teaching/audtioning for a studio w/no pole. I would totally work the floor, wall, chair aspect. DO THE FISH FLOP!!! It could be that WOW move that really makes you stand out between others who are audtioning.

Good luck on your auditions, I want to start doing that but im not 100% sure if im ready yet.

June 3, 2010 at 10:45 am in reply to: recording and your significant other.. HELP

Some of mine my husband has seen before posting. I did one for him for Xmas and wouldnt post it until he saw it first. He watches them whenever he gets a chance, ive been begging him to see the newest one since im proud of it but he hasnt gotten around to it. He sometimes will offer pointers on positions and things but I just try to explain to him that its only me recording so I only get one angle (sounds like I need to save up for flip or start using the video feature on my camera as well), so its hard to get the good shots.

Hes starting to get perturbed about me posting vids to YT, b/c some of the guys who do post comments think im hot. He also is starting to think that I would rather post videos to YT for random strangers than spend time with my kids ( https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif , previously discussed on a different post).

Honestly I would let him see them as raw footage before you start editing/posting. Once you you post here and get comments, show him the feedback your getting from them.

I can sympathize with you. I have a 5yo and a 16mos old. alot of times my IL’s will take my oldest and not my youngest. Yes I know he doesnt simply understand but dont favor my kids. My parents did that crap to my brother, sister and I (I became the black sheep of the group, I got left out alot) and will not let it happen to my own kids.

If its once in a blue moon (movies, something the older one would love more etc), thats totally understandable. But if they are going somewhere or even staying at home both kids should be able to go. Last night was the first time my IL’s took both kids to the carnival. Now since my son is older and isnt demanding 24/7 (just a handful at this point) they are more willing to take both. But having your kids so close in age (my brother and I are 13mos apart), theres no excuse to take one and not the other.

I suggest you talk to her with no emotion. I know when I get fired up I say things I really dont mean to say or never say what I wanted to say. Sometimes they dont realize what they are doing until someone points it out. Now time to tell that to my MIL. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

I am super excited about the low platform Xstage! I saw it at the Pole-con and was wondering about it. Never got a chance to talk to the Xpole reps tho. Do you know how much it is going to be and whether they will offer different metal/size options?

I was in Clives disscussion about the future of Xpole. They will be introducing brass next year. PS offers brass for an extra fee, understandable since brass is pretty expensive. I think Xstage 2.0 should be the same price as the Xstage. I believe its coming out in the fall.

I freaking love the street poling!!! On my way home from my first class I was looking at everything I could turn into a pole. I am glad I am not the only one. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

you should of saw us at Pole Convention. A bunch of us were walking across the street a bunch of us started gathering around a speed limit sign. Karol Helms started street poling and we all hoped in! All fun until the Cops showed up and ruined our fun https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

It really depends on the Studio. I was listening on the PFA talk, im all for same names for moves. If they pay the fee, they get the book.

Xpole is making a 2.0 of thier stage to be lower to the ground. Clive was talking about that at the Convention. It was there as well. I would rather have my stage low to the ground, I love doing floorwork and that step down is kinda scary sometimes. I almost stubbed my toe a few time over those pieces. I was impressed with the xstage since it held me with no problem.

I think PS lets you rent thier stuff if your local to them.

I worked at a place where even dictionary.com was blocked. I mean.. Can’t a bitch make sure she’s using the right word in her boring interoffice email?

    OMG!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

We have limited access, the usual stuff is blocked. Like right now im covering the cashiers desk so she can have a break, Ill check some sites. At my own desk I do check the usuals at lunch and when I feel like i need a quick breather. They really see it as as long as my work is done correctly, I deserve a break. But I also have my blackberry as well so I will check stuff on there and text every now and then.

Intersting….We have a huge October event happening here and we were thinking about doing a pole comp – except I don’t want my studio putting it on because I want to compete in it…so maybe somehow we could tie in with you.

Im listening!!! just let me know.

As of right now Ive emailed a few auditoriums/theaters in the DC, MD, VA area. MD Hall for Creative arts so far is the best price and holds almost 800 people. The Stratmore can hold almost 2000 people. So if anyone else can think of any other places, let me know or email them.
