Yay! I make hoops too!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif In fact my first foray into hoop making was charity for an NPO I used to work for. Everyone loved them. charley, it’s not odd that your bf thinks hooping is sexier, because it’s definitely hypnotically amazing to watch a beautiful woman hoopdance well, especially with a fire hoop! Something about it’s lack of overt sexuality makes it even more sensuous. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif I can do a few tricks with my dance but I’m not anywhere near as good as I’d like to be. Have you ever seen ShpongledHoops on Youtube? She’s effing amazing!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif
edit: and hoop dancing most certainly IS a workout. Try doing it for more than five minutes and tell me you’re not sweating and working every muscle you’ve got, especially your core. I hear it burns 600 calories an hour!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

Hi and thanks for the welcome! Poi is no more difficult than pole work that’s for sure. You could make sock poi to start with. Check out Nick Woolsey on YouTube (username: Meenik), he is one of the best poi teachers out there and he has an online video detailing how to make the sock poi. I use tennis balls in mine but his rice in a balloon idea sounds way less painful when (not if https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif ) you accidentally smack yourself in the face. Oh and less stretchy socks are better IMO. Lemme know how it goes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hi~ I own the set and all of them were definitely worth every penny. She is an excellent teacher! I had a friend watch a DVD with me and at first she complained that Jamilla talked too much, but once she got to the more advanced stuff my friend quickly changed her tune and praised Jamilla for explaining exactly how to do the moves!
