I most certainly am not Pennsylvanian, but I have been a transplant for the past two years. I’m a little nervous because I’ve been a part of online communities in the past and they’ve had a tendency to consume me and seeing how everyone here is so supportive and wonderful… well, I’ve got a feelin’ if you know what I mean.

So anyway, I’m a mixed media artist and am currently studying alternative therapies. I’ve been studying belly dance for three years, hip hop/liquid pop for five and skill/fire toys (poi, hoop, fans and double staves) for about two. Pole dancing became a love of mine when I considered the possibility of making extra money dancing without having to be a "super dirty" dancer (hey, everybody has their limits, right?) so after a year and a half of pondering, studying and dreaming I finally bought a pole from Veena and here I am! So pleased to meet you all!

I would love to learn poi!!!!!!! It seems so cool but difficult too. I’ll be honesty you’ll be addicted to this site. I don’t have an addictive personality in the least (too lazy, additctions, like stalking, take more work than I want to give) and I am so addicted to the site. My boyfriend jokingly tells me I have a problem. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Hi and thanks for the welcome! Poi is no more difficult than pole work that’s for sure. You could make sock poi to start with. Check out Nick Woolsey on YouTube (username: Meenik), he is one of the best poi teachers out there and he has an online video detailing how to make the sock poi. I use tennis balls in mine but his rice in a balloon idea sounds way less painful when (not if https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif ) you accidentally smack yourself in the face. Oh and less stretchy socks are better IMO. Lemme know how it goes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
