if it can spin itself out you’re not tight enough, thats how i test if mine is good or not, because if i can shorten/lengthen it with my hands then it’ll come down(again) that sucks by the way you feel like a you tube vid, so i’d say try tightning it till if you were to grab it it won’t undo, and see if it spins better. and check wear the bearings go if that’s not up althe way when you apply preasure it can snap back up and then it’s really loose.

well since it looks like someone is selling theirs i’d say it’s good, but if you can get a look before you buy you can check the peices, http://www.verticaldance.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9197&sid=f8b2708c67c4e413956c4ab8f20e2803 has a picture of what the joints should be.

2(diet) epic fail, but last night was chaos
    3(workout) did that
4(invert) is this easier on chrome than stainless steel because I got a lot further at home than I do at the studio?

thank you, I really am obsesed with buying dvds but right now I’ve got a few other priorities so I guess if they’re nothing truly revolutionary then I’ll move them down the list a bit.

    Thank you ms Sissybuns
I figure I’m good even if there is a problem because I have perfected the art of crashing without injuries(I crash at just about everything I do), but I brought a friend the first night who happens to be pregnant, so that wound up being majorly uncool, so I haven’t brought her back, but I have been woried about muscle damage, and joint damage because since I started 3 weeks ago I’ve gotten something like shin splints in my forearms from doing what I think yall call the boomerang and some shoulderblade pain from spins so I’m scouring the forums for saftey tips on the things I probably shouldn’t be doing. Are there any moves upside down or sideways that should be jumped into?

umm not to ask a stupid question but how exactly can you hurt yourself inverting before your ready, or kicking up into inverts because at the studio I go to because that’s all we do, you invert on your first night and go from there,(i first got suspicious when we were told we can’t fall like that) but I tend to research more than most people i have class with so I don’t want to do something that will do more damage than shin splints in my arms(if anyone knows anything about that I would love to know) because being that far out of commission would not be cool.

Uunfortunatly the girl who runs the studio is the one who has no concept of saftey, and while I supppose not going is an option it’s not one I like because while I do have a pole at home I don’t have the dicipline required to do anything about it, I’ve had it for over a year and drag it out every other month maybe. It’s actualy because of this sight I know the sholders back and down thing otherwise my shoulder would probably be wrenched out of socket, and that’s actualy tthe kind of saftey I was looking for like for certian things is there something specific I should be doing to make it done right? I’m hoping it’s going to get better though because I’m loaning them my art of pole set and hopefuly they will learn that the have to say these things, but ehh till then I’ll have to learn how to be safe here and my freind will have to wait till she’s not prego to try anything unsupervised.

btw the venus is just a split grip and you lift your legs up into a V (or you can do it inverted, don’t recomend it for me anymore though, landed on my neck last night) what do yall call it?

ok so in order to answer your question I watched through it again, and for one it reminded me how awsome the warm up is, the best of the one i’ve watched, but i suppose my dislike is more personal taste than anything else because the intruction is great, but i feel stupid and uncomfortable doing it, I can only do the first routine and i can’t seem to be comfortable with the flow, maybe it’s just the level I’m at or maybe i am just as clutsy as I’ve always been, but in terms of teaching there is nothing wrong, I just don’t like using it so I figure someone else might like it.

My ballet slippers always had suede on the bottom, so I don’t think they would be very slippy on carpet. When I dance without shoes on my carpet, I just wear socks and I slide all over the place! I had a friend of mine who tried the plywood piece under the pole. It worked great for a while, but then after some time playing on the pole and tightening it when necessary, the plywood started to bow a bit in the middle from the pole. The edges of the plywood started coming up off the floor and were no longer flat on the carpet. I don’t know if she did something wrong or the plywood piece just wasn’t big enough, but she eventually removed the piece of wood and went back to just carpet. I told her about the packing tape on the shoes and now she doesn’t have any problems!
How bout a hinged stage with a snug hole in the center? two 4x8s with 4 piano hinges on the seam and a half circle in each to make the diameter of the base of an xpole if thats what you got, lil mynx i have no clue how to do that I’ve never seen one up close. but i’m sure the same theory would work.
