MemberNovember 27, 2013 at 1:09 am in reply to: Xpole question: Using my chrome base/dome with a different finish pole? It’s hard to say about too grippy. I think it still depends on what kind of heat in summer and body. When it’s humid I sweat more, thus body is slippery. I prefer too grippy, although I’m not much into spins, more tricks, etc. so it doesn’t bother me as much.
Like I said, my first xpole was 50mm titan gold. When I wanted a 45mm, I got chrome and regretted it, so with bday money, overtime, etc. I bought a 45mm titan gold and did keep both, thinking I’d switch based on weather. I only switched once and after a year or so, sold the chrome. Once in a while I have issues with slippery pole, but it’s more manageable. Hopefully others can give advice. I know it’s so hard to decide.

They should make it more visible to know that’s how to vote. Anyway, DONE for veena!

MemberNovember 26, 2013 at 12:03 pm in reply to: Xpole question: Using my chrome base/dome with a different finish pole?I’ve also heard/read of others doing this. I think it’s a great idea. I have a 45mm Titan Gold Xpert and love it. I actually started with a 50mm lil mynx stainless steel (it’s all I knew about at first), then got a 50mm titan gold (45’s were not common yet), then for some dumb reason bought a 45mm chrome. Ended up selling it and have my 45mm titan gold xpert.

MemberNovember 26, 2013 at 11:58 am in reply to: State of constant soreness..is that weird?Couldn’t believe when I saw this post. I recently started having this constant soreness! I’ve always worked out and didn’t have this problem till maybe few months ago. I do boot camp workout two days a week (Monday & Wednesday) and pole two days a week (Thursday & a weekend day). I know it’s not the workouts because like I said, I’ve always worked out in some way. I used to do boot camp 2-3 days/wk WITH a private that kicked my butt. Didn’t have this constant soreness.
I KNOW I don’t drink enough water, and I KNOW I skimp on sleep/rest. So that’s something I’m going to work on. I used to take Natural Calm long time ago, guess I should get back on it.
I wish I could soak in a hot, epsom salt, mineral bath every day all day long. You know, I will say I have noticed the additional soreness now that I am working on putting choreography, routine, dance into my pole journey. DANG, that takes A LOT of physical work, as well as mental! Oh, maybe being 58 yrs old has something to do with it?!?!?!

I’m very curious.

So good to hear you are back at it! It is addicting and you are right…studioveena is a great place of fun, encouragement and support. Can't wait to see your progress. Your profile pic is very nice!

Totally understand! When I first started I thought "what the heck!" At first it was death grip (sometimes still is!) then later learning new tricks with different points of contact. Be prepared that as you learn and get used to something, the next thing may start over with discomfort and bruising. I have been practicing thigh hold or cradle to superman and it freakin' hurts, most because I'm not as flexible as others and it takes more struggle to get leg through to turn hips into superman.
Anyway, as you see, you are not alone. Welcome to sv and pole journey. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I agree with everyone, keep at it. Strength and getting used to the burn will come. Keep in mind when you get used to and over the skin burn with one thing, it'll start again with the next thing lol It's all part of pole. It took me months to get invert and I was even taught wrong. When I found sv I had to go back to basics. Superman was the MOST painful when learning, I even had to stop working on it few times. Then it became fun. Be patient and enjoy the journey. This is a great place for support and fun.

I honestly don't remember if skype can be recorded at same time. I don't know what quality your cam is; one time I tried recording a practice with my laptop webcam and it came out horrible qualilty. So now when I skpe, I use my digital camera on a tripod to record and attempts/practices. Do you have a digital camera you can use to record it?

skyember, be careful about selecting finish of pole based on what works for others. Everyone is different and different finishes work for different polers. I started with stainless steel lil mynx years ago. While it served me well for first couple years, I had to move to different finish. THEN became the decision struggle. I ended up with a chrome and titan gold and switch between the two. Not sure when/why I switch . In fact I've had my titan gold up for sometime now. I put it up in winter and haven't taken it down for summer. I'm considering putting my chrome up again since it's just standing in the corner https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif. I've also tried brass at different studios and was a no go for me. Others bought brass and struggled, others love it. That being said, I love my 45mm xpert titan gold. It has it's good days/bad days depending on weather and ME https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Good luck.

calipole, I've met a few gals from this studio, they are very nice, just thought I'd let you know. 🙂

I've had xpole with adjustment cover on the bottom and have never had that happen. And I do grip alot on the cover as my pole is not real tall so I end up there quite a bit or I'm cautious about being higher when doing certain tricks. I wonder if others have had that happen and what their response would be. I know we are not supposed to over tighten, but wonder if it needs to be tightened more. Have you asked xpole? Yes, that would freak me out too.

I am also glad I got the xpert (static/spin). I don't use spin as main mode, but when I do attend a pole studio that has spin as part of class or workshop, it's good to be able to practice it at home.
It does go from spin to static with loosening of screws, I wish it was easier like the pin in platinum stage or the SV Lil Mynx pole. I have to decide which mode I'm using and use little tool to go from one mode to the other during practices.
That being said, I love my xpole xpert 45mm titan gold. I also have a chrome one and switch between hot/cold weather.

OR if someone has not gotten a room yet and plans on going can room with you?? Unfortunately I'm not going https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif, otherwise, I'd say let's share. I hope you are able to go!

Has anyone gotten shipping quote from fed ex? I've purchased poles from xpole twice and shipping was $40. I think veena also had xpoles for $40 shipping (I think). I hope it works out for you, ChristinM to sell and Csedlak to buy one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

So sorry to hear. I will share "our" experience because everyone's is different. Our pet poodle, Brandy, health began to fail at age 12. She had difficulty breathing, couldn't take many steps without having to stop to breathe, we had to lift her up for about everything. Her immune system began to break down and she broke out in horrible sores all over her precious body.
I took her to the vet when the sores broke out and he said he was surprised she was not in heart failure, as it was so weak. He highly recommended putting her to sleep as she was suffering. I was not prepared for that and told him "I'm not ready." He said to take her home and bring her back when I'm ready.
I took her home and held her all day (wrapped up in a towel as her body was full of horrible sores). After about three days realized it was time. I sat on the couch with her all day and cried waiting for my husband to get home so we could take her to her vet, who cared for her since we got her at six wks old. We had our son say good bye to her and took him to a friend's house. Daniel and Brandy were about same age, as after six years of infertility we got Brandy, then two months later I was pregnant with our son, so they grew up together.
The vet asked us if we wanted to stay with her during the process which shocked me, but in my surprise said yes. Husband and I are glad we did, even though that was the first we've heard of that. We have comfort knowing that she didn't suffer in the process and that it was peaceful. I agree with Autumn Sky about the peace of staying. Yes we cried as we held her, but also tears of love. Of course, everyone has to make their decision.
Sorry I rambled, just wanted to share that I know how difficult it is. This was 16 yrs ago, as you can see, still a vivid, but loving memory of her life with us. My thoughts are with you and your family.
