The one comment I made is that I really would have liked to see some power moves like reverse grabs done on both poles. Every single move was very centered on the pole/stage. The biggest problem I have had is with body weight being thrown away from the pole in a circular motion.

Corn Huskers has been around for AGES. It was routinely used by farmers who worked in the fields as their hands would get extremely dry and would crack. They needed something that was not oily but would penetrate. Not sure if it ever made it "across the pond".
Stevesgirl, here are the ingredients: Water, glycerin, sd alcohol 40, sodium calcium alginate, oleyl sarcosine, methylparaben, guar gum, triethanolamine, calcium sulfate, fragrance, calcium chloride, fumaric acid and boric acid.

Only lotions that have an oil base will cause issues (look for something like petrolatum in the first several ingredients). Many lotions use glycerine as their moisturizing agent and will not cause issues. I beleiev glycerine is the main ingredient in (well not main but it is what gives it its magic powers). BTW, Most of the Vaseline products use glycerine as well as the Aveeno products. I use the Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe and have never had an issue even using it right before poling.
Compare these two:
Bath and Body Works lotion (note petrolatum and shea butter):
Water, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Cetyl Alcohol, Ceteryl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Fragrance (Parfum), Ceteareth-20, Butyrspermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Simmondsia Chinesis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Lavandula Angusifolia (Lavender) Extract, Macademia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Isododecane, Carbomer, Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, BHT, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Benzyl Alcohol, Propylparaben, Citral, Limonene, Linalool, Red 33, Blue 1
Vaseline Aloe
Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glycol Stearate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Cucumis Sativus Extract (Cucumber), Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil (Sunflower), Or Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean), Glycine Soja Sterol (Soybean), Sodium Stearoyl 2 Lactylate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A Palmitate), Sodium Acrylate/Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Lecithin, Mineral Water, Sodium PCA, Potassium Lactate, Lactic Acid, Collagen Amino Acids, Urea, Fragrance, Triethanolamine, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Disodium EDTA, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)
Basically stay away from any lotion that has a petroleum based moisturizer.

Yes, most twisted grips. There are a lot more moves that use this than you would think. Also bracket holds when you are not engaging properly and even if you do not have proper conditioning for the move. Many of the moves that require some sort of contortion training if you are not flexy enough. I know quite a few people who have cracked or bruised their ribs trying to get into Allegra. As you get older extreme flexibility is more difficult and takes much more vigorous training. Even common back problems from inverting and shoulder problems from reverse grabs can haunt an older body much more than a younger one. I hurt my shoulder practicing a handstand 4 years ago and that will never ever go away. Add to this the amount of people teaching pole who really should not be teaching pole and it is so easy to get injured. Basically it comes down to knowing your body. Know your limits and know how much you can push it. Above all else, research your instructor.

43 here and started when I was 38. One thing I can say is that at this age you have a lot more respect for your body! There are so many moves that look cool but are not good body positioning. I think it is easier to come to terms with not being able to do things because you don't want to be in pain the rest of your life. When you are 20 something and have some pains in your back or shoulder you think you are invincible so you push through…..not so much when you are in your 40's. I also think it is easier for older ladies to get in contact with their sexy.
There is a group called the Grande Dames of Pole Fitness. You may want to check them out and join the group. Here is a story about them and also the link to their FB page. I know the Midwest had an over 40 or 45 comp last year. Amazing! http://poleskivvies.com/pole-dancing-clothing/2010/04/grande-dames-of-pole-fitness/

It really depends on if you are associated with a studio or not. If it is a studio many times the free advertising is the compensation for the performance, especially if it is a big event.
I would say $50-100 an hour would be reasonable. I doubt that if there will be more than 1 person performing they will pay more so keep that in mind. This is also Midwest pricing (or at least Ohio).

They are getting lost with everything else that is on the home page.

There is no such thing as a good cheap pole. Expect to pay from $250-400 on a new pole.

When I got my first Mirena every month during what would have been that time I got cramps kind of like I was stopped up (not at all like my period cramps), and I would also get back aches. It would only be a day or so and it took me a while to realize it was related to when I normally would have had my period. That subsided in about 3 months. Every once in a blue moon I will still get the back/hip pain when I should have my period.
