Ahhhh….from the way I read it it seemed as though XPole told you that the additional screws were not necessary.  That was my misunderstanding.

If you think about it, you are exerting force in all directions on any given mount.  At the very least I would say that you need a box around the pole, or the 4 diagonals covered.

Renting out a stage pole is difficult.  You really need to make sure that you are not only covered in case someone gets hurt, but I would never trust anyone else to set up my pole, which means you are taking time to go out and set it up and tear it down.  I have seen anywhere from $50 an hour to $150 for the night/afternoon etc.

As to performances, there was another thread on here regarding it, I think.  Either that or it was on facebook.  Let me see what I can dig up.  I want to say $50 was the minimum, unless there was advertising for your studio that went along with it.  Lots of times if it is a big gig they will add you name and may expect that the free advertising is your payment.

I have not seen the "real" yoga toes in person but I do not see much of a difference in design from the pictures.

But I do not see anywhere where XPole told you to only use 2 screws?

If I had to use only 2 I would have purchased what may be an ugly screw but was no shorter than 3", maybe even 4".  I also would have done what one otehr user sugegsted in going up into the ceiling and putting braces up there.

Ummmm….if there are 6 holes, you need 6 screws.  Who told you otherwise?

Their vaulted mount description:  For vaulted or slanted ceilings only!

Vaulted mount is permanent and needs to be drilled into a stud/beam. Screws are not included so need to purchase 6 screws that work for the surface it is being mounted to. Mount replaces the ceiling dome. Pole can be disassembled as needed. Only the mount remains permanently attached to the ceiling.

Their flat mount instructions: For Flat Ceilings Only! Screws not included

Will work for the both the 45mm & 50mm diameter pole and is only available in silver. Block mount is permanent and needs to be drilled into a stud/beam. Screws are not included so need to purchase 4 screws that work for the surface it is being mounted to. Mount replaces the ceiling dome. Pole can be disassembled as needed. Only the mount remains permanently attached to the ceiling.

Here is what to look for to know if it is real or fake:

There should also be a serial number on the inside of the dome.

I would also be sure that the 40 is a true X pole (or that it is a 40).  Those just came out recently so I have a hard time believing that someone is already selling theirs.

I had written something regarding this when someone was asking about things you should know if you are going to compete or perform….there is a lot to be said for the safety thong/g-string.  One, if you do have a costume malfunction typically the thong or gstring is so "up there" that it will stay put.  Two, it cuts down on camel toe a bit.  Three, and this is TMI for some of you, the excitement/nerves that happen before you go on stage can cause wet spots.  Typically the lighting is low but the safety thong will help.

BTW, Funtasma are made by Pleaser.  They are their cheap costume line of shoes.

Keep an eye on ebay for shoes…I have bought a few pair for not a whole lot of money.  I also know that some pole studios are sellers of either Ellie or Pleaser and many times can get you shoes at cost or little above cost.

What kind of information are you specifically looking for?

Starting out I would look for shoes that have straps and that are not too high.  Stay away from anything that has metal or rough things on the tops as they will mess with your grip and scratch the pole.  Same goes for fabric and lack of grip.  Boots can be fun but the stretchy ones tear easily.  Also you can easily get stuck on the pole if the boots are too grippy.  A larger base for the heel for stability when starting out if possible.  None of the companies guarantee their shoes so if you ruin them they are done.  Ellies tend to run wider than Pleasers.

  • I honestly thought that the dome was plastic as it seems too light to be metal.  Seeing as mine came directly from XPole it is NOT a fake.

I was not saying that all poles do not have issues.  I was saying that most of the companies out there work to fix their issues.  Lil Mynx changed their installation instructions so eating through your ceiling is not as much of an issue.  XPole has redesigned the x joint to get rid of the shifting issue plus they have addressed the original issue they had with peeling chrome.  PS has had the exact same problem with their multipiece poles going on 4 years now.  I have no issue with their one piece poles as these are solidly constructed for the most part.

I picked up a set of these from Walgreens for my husband for considerably less money.  His toes are so screwed up that they did not help.
