Wow..discovered a new perk of poling, though I haven't gotten in the hours in the last few months (horrific hay fever this season).  Well it was warm enough here in N Florida to take the boat out for a round with the kids yesterday.  Well of course an hour or so into it I had to "tinkle".  Boat traffic was heavy in Destin Harbor and DH was trying to find a spot to let me off at a marina so that I could run to the loo.

Welllll I guess we had a failure to communicate.  I thought he was docking/stopping, he thought Iwas stepping off onto the dock as he made a really slow pass and he would circle back for me when I was finished. Well I started to step off onto the end of a really long dock..really far from shore over chilly water with stuff in my pockets that didn't need to get wet.  I ended up basically doing the splits and leaping and was just dangling from my elbows. I clawed up to where I had my arms holding on, and thankfully just pulled myself up and hooked my foot up even with my head and climbed up Spiderman style, ha ha ha.  My daughter's mouth was hanging open..they thought I was a goner. The first thing she said was, "Thank God for your poling lessons!!".  No doubt!  Not a bruise, pulled muscle, nada today.  I would have cracked my ribs if I was in the shape I was in 2 years ago.  Thanks for what you offer Veena…it's nice being a 43 year old Ninja ; )

I'll try to embed a photo again here..bear with me here.  Come on down Chem!!  Weather is getting just right.  This is Crab Island/Destin Harbor:  It's about ankle deep when the tide is right and just one big party all season.  You just anchor, socialize, stand in the water and wrinkle, ha ha.

My sister has lived there since the 80's (military husband) and is now in Mary Esther.  We usually head down about this time of year but just have not been able to the last few years.  And that picture does not do that area justice!  Here is one of mine from back in 2005…wow that seems so long ago!  My sis used to work at Galati yachts (and Adventure Marine before that) and her office was right by the docks.
