You need to have a bit of shoulder flexibility to execute this properly. I just don’t have it and have written this move off. I can do a reverse grab but cannot twist my arm enough to get my opposite hip next to the pole.

The one name I have heard time and time again is Kelly Maglia. I am sure her costumes are not cheap though. But most everyone I know makes their own. And you do not need to know how to sew either. Liquid stitch and quick grip go a long way for a costume!

I know the second one as the Genevieve, however your hand placement through the leg is different. It is known as a few names:

There are a couple of threads about dubstep and I even think there was a challenge. I started this one and will try to find some of the others:https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/4ec4fbce-903c-44a4-b82f-48ad0ac37250

As Corby stated, this is a question for a professional rigger.

There are 2 studios in that area, Pole Vixens and Femme Fatale. I would probably contact one of them to see if they have stage poles. I only know I think maybe one person on here that is from Dayton-ish (Luvlee), the rest seem to be from Cinci.

  • At that height I do not believe that any of the removable poles will work. I am not sure if the vaulted ceiling mount would even be enough. I know that PS and X can custom make poles to be sturdier however they are going to be costlier also.

    Costlier? Is that a word?

Several people have purchased ski bags that have a little more support in them than the xpole bag. However I believe that the baggage charge for either is pretty high because of the weight. Expect at minimum probably $100 each way.

And I have been in contact with TML, studio x and Aradia as there are old time veneers at all 3 studios.

Last I heard it will be more towards the fall. Trust me, there will be parties and if I play my cards right I can disable the RV to keep them here a little while……

  • Even with a few tiles removed you still only have 7 feet of usable pole. That is just too low especially for studio use.

Two threads that talk about music licensing. I know there are more but you can look around. The one I think I linked a bunch of the other discussions about it.

It is not Pandora fining you, it is the music licensing companies.

However, I will warn that pandora is not legal to be used in a classroom nor is an iPod unless you have paid for music rights. There are lots of threads on here regarding it and a few studios have been fined (and it is getting more frequent).

EDM is electronic dance music. Trapp is really good too.

I have a bunch of playlists on my iPod that I used for different parts of my class. I will try to remember to get them when I get home. My warm ups were more motion based so I had a lot of more sensual type music.

A simple “your comments are flattering but they make me uncomfortable” is the response you should give. Passive is NOT the way to go and if he cannot handle a simple and blunt rejection then you need to take extra steps. If you handle it professionally and don’t back pedal this should kill his advances.

May 14, 2014 at 3:28 pm in reply to: Handspring help please 🙂 RE – My last vid!

The big thing that I see here is that you are not engaging your arms at all. This is not something that you need to focus on when doing twisted grip because the engagement comes from the the arm being twisted and creating its own stability (and one of the reasons why it is so dangerous). In a standard handspring you really need to have the push/pull going on and it looks like you don’t.

Can you butterfly, extended butterfly, Ayesha with split grip?

Ah….I thought you were specifically looking for what all is contained in such book. I have been to studios that have such a thing but the majority that I have been to do not. It is becoming more commonplace though especially as safety is taking more of a role in the sport and certification/training programs are becoming more popular.

Typically this is considered proprietary information. Studios have spent lots of time and money putting these together so I would not be surprised if you do not get a lot of responses.

There is a place called Hot Springs here in NC that I am dying to check out! It is in the mountains and is fed by natural hot springs.

I have heard that a good 6 weeks to tweak your routine and get it completely down. You will be poling harder and longer than usual so you do not want to over do it. Last thing you want to do is push past a point where you end up injured and unable to compete. Also new moves should not be put into the routine, it should be stuff that you can consistently get and you just need to work on transitions in and out of and making it “pretty”. Plenty of recovery time, proper sleep and eating is a must.
