If you don’t particularly want people in your town knowing your business & are trying to be discreet, you might look into clubs that are close to (30 min-1 hour) from your current city. Take a few hours to check out a few of the clubs that you are considering working at as a customer first. Once you have it narrowed down to 2-3 clubs, call the clubs and ask the process to apply– audition? etc. Look into baby sitting situation & get that set in stone before you apply. Decide what shifts you can do that will work for your babysitting situation. ie Thursday afternoon shift, Friday afternoon/early evening, Sat evening, Sunday afternoon and be ready with that info when you apply.
Good luck!

It took me about 4-5 months before I was able to do a basic invert. Pole is fricken HARD and we all learn at different paces & although frustrating at times, it’s OK. You will get it in your own time.
Work on other pole moves that you can do…work on making them pretty & going into & coming out of moves with control. Work on your core strength–I too recommend doing Veena’s Ab challenge, it is great & really helps.

MemberMarch 25, 2014 at 11:19 am in reply to: PLEASE HELP A FELLOW POLER FIND A GOOD POLE FOR A GOOD PRICE!Hi there! 🙂 I highly recommend staying away from amazon & eBay 98% of the poles sold through those outlets are fake xpoles, off brands/rip offs & unsafe.
If you buy used, do so from a fellow poler or pole dance studio only.
It’s worth it to wait a few extra weeks and save your money to buy a legit, safe pole from a trusted pole manufacturer or distributor direct. Xpole, Platinum stages and Lil Mynx are my recommendations.

Please keep me in mind if a spot opens up in the room closer to the convention, as I would like to go to the expo for 2-3 days(Thurs-Sat) but I won’t know if I will be able to go for sure until late July. -
I’ve tried every pole out there and I would highly recommend an Xpole. They have great customer service, they provide a wide variety of pole finishes, their poles are durable, sturdy and reliable and they are always improving their poles and coming out with new pole innovations that benefit the poler and the pole community as a whole. I’ve had my Xpole for over 4 years and it still looks and performs great. I agree that the spin mode on Xpole is slower than PS poles to me that is the only thing that is good about the PS poles is the great spin their poles have. Everything else about the PS poles–the quality, put up and down and finish I do not like. I have several friends too who have had nightmare experiences with PS customer service. I know that PS has been trying to improve their poles, customer service and trying to reinvent their brand the last couple of months but I still think Xpole is the cream of the crop they know what they are doing, they have this pole making thing down pact. Lil Mynx’s are nice poles for those who really like powder coated poles but it is definitely an acquired taste.
Good Luck and let us know what you end up getting!~Cali

MemberMarch 3, 2014 at 4:19 pm in reply to: Getting new boobs but need advice on poling….. 🙁I got mine done under the muscle about 6 months after I started pole. I didn’t get back on the pole until 8 weeks post op & even then I took things really slow until I built my strength back up. I’ve had no weird bulges or contortion of my breast implant because of pole. They definitely get in the way for some moves particularly armpit grip moves ouch! But I love my boobies & if I had the choice to do it again, I would in a heartbeat…best thing I have ever done for myself.

Strip clubs Deja vu always usually has several good pole dancers in the mix at any De ja vu chain you visit across the nation. Sapphire is a huge & gorgeous club that also has a male revue on fri & sat in a separate room off of the main club. If you are a female, you can float back & forth between the room that has the male revue is in & the room that the female strippers are in. Sapphire is my favorite club in Vegas to hang out…it’s got a great atmosphere and I always have a good time there.

Don’t give up! They can be tricky at first to get the balance & mechanics down. You’re not alone! You can start with an elbow stand against the pole, then after practicing this for a couple of weeks to get use to it, then you’ll lift up into a forearm stand when you are comfortable. Then you’ll move to doing it against a wall, then on to doing them freestanding. I have been working on elbow and forearm stands against my pole for awhile(I am one of those who is scared of handstands) & have a couple of body positioning tips for starting out on elbow stands if you’re interested in seeing them, I’d be happy to Skype jam with you. Private message/inbox me if you’re interested 🙂

I started out on static 3 yrs ago & still prefer static but I am finally ready to start working on spin mode, to broaden my pole bag of tricks 😉

I don’t workout, stretch or pole during my monthly. I just feel icky, achy, crampy, fatigued & super weak during that “time” so I just make it my rest days….you are not alone.

If you love pole that’s all that matters. Don’t be so hard on yourself enjoy this journey, YOUR journey because although each journey is different, they are all equally great.
I too am a “slower” learner but after 3 1/2 years of poling, I recently realized that at the end of the day, it all comes down to I’m doing what I love, it makes me happy and I just let the progress come when it does and no longer press myself to be perfect or get a new move on the 1st or even 200th try (ahem, talking to you caterpillar & Ayesha).
Enjoy the journey…even if it’s a long one with twisty roads & lots of uphill terrain 🙂

I’d suggest a 45mm if you have small hands & 45’s are pretty standard in the pole community now.

I wear 6 inchers for pole. They make me like 6’2, which is awesome enough for me, so that’s probably what I’ll stick with. My regular dress heels I like no more than 3-4 inches. But I have a few 6 incher heels in my dressy shoe collection.

What might help alleviate this issue is to create a pole name/persona. A lot of folks in the pole community do this. I keep my pole life and personal life separate. I no longer post anything pole related on my personal FB or twitter pages and I only have a few pole friends left on my personal pages. I now have a separate Calipolepixie Facebook, Twitter etc where I post about everything pole related. I am not ashamed of my poling at all, just got tired of the drama from family & friends related to it. Since I’ve separated my pole & personal lives, things have been drama free (I had family & friend bs related to my poling almost daily when I was posting about pole on my personal FB & twitter). But it’s really a personal choice, you have to really think about it & figure out what’s the best route for you in the grand scheme of things. It really sucks that pole is still an “issue” in society when it shouldn’t be…I mean it’s 2014 for cripes sake.

Very normal eventually your skin builds up a tolerance. But Keep aloe vera gel handy it helps soothe the burning and stinging.

My pole goals for 2014 are Ayesha, Jacknife, Handspring & Cartwheel mounts and Iron X! Working toward getting these all by April or before!!!
Also, combo and transition fluidity and spin mode poling (It’s time to get serious!) before the end of the 2014 🙂

MemberDecember 21, 2013 at 1:50 am in reply to: Hello all! I’m new + 2013 Pole Year ConclussionsWelcome to Studio Veena and congrats on winning the scholarship! Studio Veena lessons are GREAT and the gals who are members here are all so helpful and supportive. I’ve been poling 3 1/2 years. I’ll be honest, my first year poling was rocky, with the first 6 months being especially the hardest for me! And even as a pole “veteran” I still have my off/bad pole days, weeks and months lol. But I LOVE pole so much and it is such an awesome sport that I just can’t stop! Pole is a journey like no other and everyone’s pole journeys are different, so just take your time, listen to your body and enjoy YOUR journey. Happy Poling!

MemberDecember 5, 2013 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Have you ever met someone in person from SV?I sure have met a couple of people from SV & from FB pole community as well and plan on meeting a lot more! My husband used to lecture me about being so trusting of peeps I met & befriend in pole forums & on FB but he has also met a couple of the gals I have met up with & we didn’t get murdered, so lately he hasn’t been lecturing me as much although sometimes, I still get the discerning eye from him lol. However, I have never met anyone who I haven’t gotten to know online for awhile though & I think I am a pretty good judge of character, so so far so good in the not befriending a nutcase or psycho lol

I am curious about this too. I know go gos in LA make decent $$ but haven’t found out how these go gos are getting gigs. I know Las Vegas has a BIG go go market too. If I find any info out or stumble across any auditions, I will post it here
