I didnt even think of it like the pretzel, that will help me, i think i need to get into it differently than i have been… maybe i should start with a pretzel & THEN extend my legs out & let go with my arm – it confuses me when i try to do it haha, ill post a video hopefully tomorrow, thanks again everyone, i still wish we could figure out the darn name of it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

The chopstick is pretty!! but its different from the one im talking about, but i wanted to learn this one as well… so thank you for posting that video!
The chantel, hmm.. i wish i could find something on youtube about it, but i cant.. thank you though!
Its a very twisted move, the pole goes down your back slanted & you have to be pretty flexible to get into it from what I can tell through my attempts, ill post a video on my attempts so you all can get a better idea & put more input in, thanks a bunch ladies!!

someone pointed that out to me about a month or two ago….no wonder why i like that song!

i love tricky! one of my favorite artist to dance to https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif electronica music is super sexy. if you like tricky try constanza.. they have similiar styles…. my two favorite by constanza are "burqua" and "ive been waiting for you"
Ooh thanks so much for that Anngiern. Burqua was my favorite. I’m not allowing myself to buy any more music for my iPod. But I think I gotta have this song….I take my thank you back. You’re making me spend money lol

LMAO!!!! I understand….I am on a ipod budget as well. Does your phone have internet functions? My phone has an app for youtube…so when i am not quite sure i want to buy a song i just you tube it and then plug it up to my sound system. this helps me keep on budget https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif and i get to try before i buy! Ha! Ha!

HAHA… almost all of my videos on youtube – im dancing to music playing off youtube… ah, its the best https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

What I find SOOO ironic about this is like a day before JC posted this, I wanted to do a dance to Hillsong – a Christian rock band because I LOVE their music & From The Iside Out is an amazing song, I LOVE pole dancing, I LOVE God & Im so thankful to have the ability to be able to pole dance…. that I felt it was perfect. It would’ve almost been a "thank you" dance… so I just find it ironic that this came up like a day after!!
Thanks for breaking the ice JC! haha… God bless you – you’re awesome, keep poling & keep praising…
I think the whole situation was irrelevant to being a believer… my opinion.
Only God can judge you, right?

I’m sure everyone who got picked has already been notified. It doesn’t make sense to me that they’d only tell 4 of them one day, then 2 the next. We probably dont have as much contact with the other people…. just a thought – could be wrong!!
And Im sure there’s no rush for them to tell everyone else that they didnt make it… my thoughts!

Hey Bttrsweet (forgot your whole name!)

Grip gloves are NOT allowed during competitions, however; you may use grip aid formulas!

And, Im sure Alethea will get in there… I dont doubt that for a second!

Has anybody heard ANYTHING yet as far as amateur goes?!?!

Yes, floorwork is always a good idea! Maybe learning a basic climb on the pole, just how to get on it, and eventually sitting on it. Pole-ups? But maybe the 30 year old may not be able to do one…
Hmm, I honestly think its best to just tell them that theyre working and moving along at different paces, and just be real with them that youre finding it difficult to come up with things that the both of them can do. Maybe in a non-chalaunt (sp!) way? You could get them to work on the body spiral… ? Pirouettes? Work on flexibility?
I hope maybe this helped a little!

I would say its mainly mental!! I, personally, feel like the reason I have progressed so quickly on the pole is because I was never afraid of it or of the pain. I didnt care what I had to do to get a move, I was going to get it! (maybe that sounds bad haha) but, just own the pole. you can do it girl!!

November 3, 2009 at 9:52 am in reply to: how many of you use grip aids?

Ah! All the moves you have trouble with due to sweaty hands are EXACTLY the ones I have difficulty doing without grip aids! I have tried chalk/rosin/Tite Grip/ and Dry Hands. I tell ya, as soon as I did the iguana mount with Dry Hands… I remember giving a huge smile and short laugh, because it worked SO well. Its definitely my favorite. Havent tried Mighty Grip – but please let us know how you like it!!

I try not to use it often, but I probably use it everytime I pole dance because I use it when learning new moves, and sometimes it takes weeks and weeks to get a new move soooo bunches of Dry Hands is necessary!!

Oh yeah, the pole she got definitely came with photocopied instructions, and a burned copy of the KT Coates DVD… totally illegal…
    Thanks for the information!

Ouch FreeThe Sun, that sounds painful… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Definitely sounds like an issue with your joints, no fun. They’re not used to being pulled and in certain positions that they’re being trained to get in. Definitely have to take things slow!

Totally normal to have one side more flexible than the other! I recently took a workshop with Alethea Austin, Miss Sexy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif and she gave GREAT tips on stretching. Keep at it! Everyday! If you want to get your splits, you need to be working on them for about 40 mins every day. It’s okay if it tingles… my legs about went numb. Tingling means your pushing yourself, thats good! Lunges are key. When you attempt your split, squeeze squeeze squeeze both legs into the floor (think… pushing front hip bone back and back hip bone forward). Look straight. This tingles… do it for about 10 seconds and then let gravity pull you down. You should be able to sink down more. Do this about 2-3 times. When coming out of stretches, do NOT just get out of position and move to the next. You need to slowly come out, like about a minute.. moving out more and more every 20 seconds or so. Just keep at it!

October 6, 2009 at 5:56 pm in reply to: What do pole do you recommend ?

I have tried all three poles, Lil Mynx, X-pole, and Platinum Stages.

I find the grip on Platinum Stages to be the worst, I dont know how to explain it but I find them the hardest to grip. Lil Mynx was awesome, but if you dont want any holes in your ceiling, get the X-Pole! You can only use the Lil Mynx in that ONE spot where you drilled your hole… so you cant move it from room to room like the X-Pole. X pole is the best deal for such a great price.

To answer the question about why Lil Mynx is easier to put up than X-Pole….
Once you install the Lil Mynx hardware, all you do is slide the pole over the mount and its good to go, taking about 5 seconds. Where the X-pole you have to completely take down and put back together each time you put it up/take it down.

    Hope this helps!

ahh awesome!! i actually wanted to do amateur last night, and my friend was talking me up to all the workers about how good i am at the pole and how im gunna amaze them (she was drunk) and then come to find out they said i wasnt allowed to do any pole tricks at all. no spins, nothing… for liability purposes… so needless to say, i was really upset and it kinda makes me wonder if they purposely didnt want me up there making their girls look bad… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
