MemberMarch 17, 2010 at 3:08 am in reply to: STACEY NEMOUR’s Secrets of Splits & FlexibiltyI bought it but didn’t get very far. what has helped the most is Jim Whartons flexibility book. You hold the stretches for just a few seconds. It’s a very informative book. I also have my pole instructor stretch me and I am about 4 inches off the ground, my pictures are posted. I started about a foot off the floor. The stretch that I really think is helping me is I lay on my back leave one leg straight and have someone push my other leg as far back as possible. but gently. almost like splits on your back. then after doing that I get up and try the splits and hold for about 15-20 seconds and contracting and releasing while in the splits. and I inhale, on exhale go down a little further. but don’t do anything past a few seconds because the muscles panic according to the book and will stop you so progress will be halted. After I am down in my splits I will go back to staceys video. I don’t explain well but that is what heped me.

I am 47 and in better shape now than when I was younger. I have gained flexibility, strength, confidence, enhanced mood. I am glad I started poling. Its been a year now and dont see myself stopping anytime soon.

Veenas lessons, in my opinion are the best for me so far…for home polers. you get physiology, proper technique, personal replies from Veena when a call out for help, all the training you will need to get where you need to be. I love them! good luck! I tried a few of the other sites. no complaints really justnot as complete as Veenas.

Veena (((hugs))) very sorry for you loss. May God give you the strength you need to get through this difficult time. Angel hugs, Angy

Before begining any diet check with your primary care physician and see what he or she has to say about it and go from there. I tried this diet recently and I couldn’t finish it because I just didn’t have the energy to pole and was not willing to give up pole for 30 days. You lose weight but I believe it is the result of the extremely low calories. My boobs grew out 2 sizes, I am a 36DD now, I had horrible menstrual cramps and very heavy bleeding so those were my side effects. This diet is not for the faint of heart or someone that is not very very disciplined. You have to be committed to it. The food is boring and it just didn’t feel natural to me to restrict certain foods. I believe everything in moderation. I have lost a lot of weight with pole and think I will just pick up another day during the week to lose the last few pounds. I have gone from size 16 to size 8 misses. No real big diet changes just everything in moderation and eating off of a salad plate; pole 3x’s per week…that’s it.

Hi Annie,
I am coming from summerville south carolina. I take lessons at Goddess Studios. Sure hate I missed last week, I do pole for the cardio so that would have been awesome. -
Thank you I will call when I get there. I’d hate to have to go to a strip club just to get through pole withdrawal https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)

BTW, if you have any tips on what helped you get the scottish straddle give ’em to me. I am still struggling. The ladies here broke it down to me and it helped ALOT but the trouble I am having is getting my knee higer up to go thru. I don’t know what I am doing or not doing ugh!
Glad we connected https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif) and I am all for some get togethers you ladies just let me know. -
Hey Tara!! yes that’s me. I will help you remember me…I sat next to you and your husband at the halloween party. I was a kitten. I can do a lot more on the pole than I am allowed to do in class https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif. I am working on my core strength to get the knee hold, but I am sure it will take months.
Girl you freakin rock on the pole!!! You blew me away with your doubles performance at the halloween party.
The first time I saw you we were in a 101 class, and I remember your "move up the ranks dance." I have been wanting to quit classes and just do it at home because of the new schedule but will stick it out because I have made so many wonderful friends https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)
I hope to catch you soon. I WANNA BE LIKE YOU WHEN I GROW UP!!! -

I have several poles and the carmen electra peeka boo is one. it can bolt but as the other lady mentioned after awhile the plastic will crack. it’s really just for posing/dancing around. It can be unstable when you least expect it. You can have your husband put the flange on there but climbing not so sure how you will do. let us know how it goes.

Ok, here is the link. It may be old news but before I started this program I was a foot off the ground and if you go to the official splits thread you can see I am about 4" off the ground. Also, I have to still get good and warmed up before I can go down in them. I wonder when will I be able to to just slide into them without all the workout and stretching as I see some girls in class do?
-
Hello,
I will find the link for you and email it to you via this site. I also found some great information on stretching at Yogabody.com
Now following this advice I am 3-4" off the ground and it has been only 2 weeks. I did buy his pills but I imagine you can get the ingredients in his pills over the counter. But let me tell you. The way he explains flexibililty makes a lot more sense to me and his stretches are easy…zero gravity is what I think he calls them. I am bending deeper now. I can actually put my hands flat on the floor after doing his stretching and I have never in my life been able to put my hands flat on the floor when bending over. I have never been able to do that, I could barely touch my toes even as a kid. So I feel very confident I will have my splits soon. I will get the other article for you. but check out this guys website. The only advice I didn’t follow was give up meat https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif) -
Hi Ladies,
I had my little girl try and snap a pic of my splits. ouch! I have a ways to go but this was after a pilates class. normally I am way off the ground. Wish me luck. I hope to have them by february. my birthday. i am 46 so I am really hoping to hurry and get this goal accomplished. happy poling! -
Hi Ladies,
count me in! I will try to get my pictures taken after my pilates class on thursday since I will have stretched already. or should I take them before class? either way I need accountability so I am reporting for duty! -
I bought the book and I am one of the ones that is disappointed with it. There is not much directed at splits specifically. So I found few websites that have helped me. I also bought a stretch ladder. But look for information on PNF stretching. After a good workout on the pole I do splits stretches and there is a thread on that somewhere here and I downloaded an article the splits in 6 weeks that makes a lot of sense to me and I am further down in 3 weeks than all these months of stretching and got no where/ I think I wasn’t doing enough stretching. I started in march of 09 trying to get the splits but didn’t get serious about it until 2 months ago.
I started about 1 foot off the ground (really inflexible) and now about 3-4 inches to go on front splits left side. The right side about 8 inches to go and middles splits long way. What really has helped me is quad stretches or any exercises you can find on opening the hip area. I know there are others that can give better advice but I hope you can get them soon.

Naddi,
Mighty Grip is excellent I was using that, or Pro Grip which I get from the bowling alley, it helps when you need to do thigh holds, liquid chalk helped, ITAC 2 which I ordered from Australia, and a resin bag-bowling alley. They were excellent I could hang and feel secure ya know? I had class today and I worked hard and will until I can get my hands on those gloves. Oh I bought some gloves from Walmart that have rubber dots on them. They are wonderful for grip and I tried climbing with those today. I had to use only upper body strength because the legs didn’t grip at all…I kept sliding. I used the gloves just for my invert moves climbing. Thank you for taking the time to reply it’s good to know I have a place to go to whine a little https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif -
Thank you so much Amber. I only recently started using aids when I moved up to pole 201 (intermediate). When I invert I feel more secure with the grip aid because my hands sweat a lot. I have a medical condition. The dr. suggested I use the Dri Sol he prescriped for my underarms to rub it on my hands. The sweat is actually dangerous when doing inverts as you know, and it scares me no having that secure grip. But I am going to do as you suggest and practice harder to build strength. Should I try lifting weights and running with the little leg weights to help my legs get stronger as well?
