i’m pretty "type A". Just wondering, what IS type A? I’ve heard it in so many contexts!

i dont think a lot about what my weaknesses are or compare myself to other people.
I wish I was like this. I compare all the time! I’m always comparing myself to people that I don’t think I could ever match for skill (and I tell myself I could never match their skill, too) and I get all depressed about it. It’s a hard road for me, trying to not compare but still see progress or have a goal for myself.
I found the few times I’ve recorded myself have been somewhat helpful. I don’t have any mirrors around my pole (nowhere to put them that I wouldn’t end up kicking), and so seeing what I’m doing is very strange to me. I remember the second time I recorded myself kind of threw me for a loop, because I was dancing in shorts due to climbing, and one move caused a wave of jiggly all the way up from my knee… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I didn’t think it was attractive at all. Then again, I AM comparing myself to lots of much thinner ladies, like Felix!
Recording myself, however, takes up space with the tripod and all that I don’t normally have unless I’m the only one home. So, I don’t get to do it often.
Curious, though…what do you do with the video after you’ve watched, and possibly posted it? I have an external drive (actually, I have two of them!) that I suppose I could keep it all on, but that gets to be a pretty big chunk of space in a very short time! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

All in all, though, I think I’d like to record myself more often, then I can really see what it looks like when I do certain things. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

You better stop that comparing yourself stuff young lady. It’s only gonna lead to heart ache and misery LOL. Don’t compare yourself skill wise or size (thigh jiggle) wise. We are all different and we all do our own thing. I know you know this already, but I just want to say to you that no matter how bad you think you are or how much you think you suck, there’s someone out there that want’s to be as good as you are. We’re all in different stages and all trucking along at our own paces.

I record myself almost everytime too and I just store it on my external hard drive. Like Roxy though I rarely have time to practice for an hour, then go back and spend another hour watching it LOL. But it’s helpful to have it for review, like you said Amy.

Sometimes I record in little bits. Like I’ll do a move then pause and watch it back right away, then repeat.

I have a good hearty laugh when I watch my first videos though. Not that I’m all that now but man…I was watching my first RG the other day and I was hilarious. I barely got myself around the pole and then I was huffing and puffing when I was done. It’s was so funny and so cool to see how far I’ve come. I remember when i could only invert once or twice a practice because it took so much out of me. Now it seems I spend most of my practices upside down. Growing is cool https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

Only a person who has learned on stainless would call chrome too grippy. LOL

I’m happy for you because USPDF uses stainless and I can’t do shit on those. You’re already a step ahead of most folks.

You are right about the topicals causing skin thinning and your skin getting addicted to it, but hydrocortisone is a really low grade steriod and carries a low risk of those things unless you use it several times a days for several months.

We see eczema in all ages. Babies, kids and grown ups.

I’d reccomend a trip to a dermatologist at least once. They could give you something stronger that you don’t have to use as much…

I just checked the w room rates and it’s like $300 a night there. Is that the rate you ladies are paying or did I not search properly?

I found some other cheaper rooms but I don;t know the difference from the lower upper east west side. I’ve never been to New York before and I don’t want to end up all far away but I don’t want to pay over $600 for my room either…

sissy, the rooms are about $300 a night there…

if you are looking for something cheaper, and have a couple in mind, i wouldn’t mind telling you which one would be best location-wise… you can also use googlemaps or hopstop.com to enter in the location of the hotel and the competition/workshop locations to see how long it would take on the subway, or how much a cab would cost in between.

Thanks Amy. I’ll have my car and although I do not want to drive in New York, I could if I had to.

I’m gonna look up some places and ask you about them. It’s so nice to have a local involved. LOL

I think that’s a kick ass picture of you and being that Perez Hilton is somewhat of a celebrity I’d be flattered that he used it because a gazillion people are gonna see your sexay legs and those beautiful pointed toes. F all those haters who know nothing of which they speak. i swear I’ve been defending pole dance in the Olympics all week. It’s getting tiring. LOL

I work as a Dermatology nurse and we see patients with eczema all day. i was reading through the posts with all of my ideas in mind but everyone has said them already LOL. I wasn’t aware of al of these home remedies like tea tree oil and such but that’s because where i work, we give prescriptions. LOL One of the main ones we do give is lac-Hydrin lotion/am-lactin/ammonion hydroxide.

It works wonders for several conditions. two of my kids use it currently for 2 other skin problems. Give it a try and see how it goes. also, have you seen a dermatologist yet? There are a ton of topical steroids and other medications that could help.

A few hrs ago I had someone write a comment on a video of mine saying…."I can see all of the abortions she has had from the blubber on her stomach" This was on one of the after baby vidoes… To that I say "block" and "delete". I use to respond back but I just delete and block them and moooove on, those types of people are NOT worth my time. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Are you serious???? That is one of the most ignorant comments I’ve ever heard of. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif

I have skinny feet too and I get my normal size in Pleasers and they fit just fine. I wear a 10 and I get a 10 in pleasers. the first pair I ordered (from electriqueboutique.com) I ordered a 9 because a 10 in a heel just sounded so big. The accidently sent me a 8 which was not only too small but, waaaaaaay too small. I called and said I ordered a 9 (not an https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif but I may actually need a 10. They sent it right away without a problem and it fits perfectly. I would suggest electriqueboutique to anyone buying shoes for the first time because their no hassle return policy is great. They even emailed my paid return label to me right away. I just wrapped the box and UPS came to get it from my door.

People say things like that because they can hide behind their computer screen and not have to confront any face to face. Notice you’ll never see those types of commebnts from a fellow poler. It’s always some random person who knows nothing about what they’re watching.

I haven’t gotten a mean one yet but once I do I’ll delete it. And move on. Especially if it doesn’t make sense. Don’t let those haters get to you girl! I fuggin hate youtube sometimes. Ugh!

The principal did have a mediation session with Shania and the other girl and they agreed to put their beef to rest and get over it. Then soon after the girl was heard talking trash again about wanting to fight Shania again. Sigh.

This was weeks ago and it has since blown over, but my baby does get picked on a lot by the other girls. What I’m trying to figure out is what she’s doing (or not doing) that makes her such a target. Every month it’s a new crew of girls that want to jump her. She doesn’t have any close friends and spends pretty much every wekend and evening home with us.

Write stuff on the mirror. It doesn’t show that well in videos and you’re looking in the mirror anyway so while your checkin yourself out…check what other move you wanna do.

I got the idea from Jessalyn when we were working on our competition routines. Her and I had the mirror at her studio filled with moves in black marker. LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

    Hi Andriana,
I’m a nurse and we give this drug all the time in the clinic I work in and I’ve never heard about these side effects. Why hasn’t the FDA pulled the drug?

I’m sorry you had so many problems while you were on it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I have these and I will tell you that they suck for pole dancing. I had them in Ellies and they were HUGE. Got them in Pleasers and there is no support around you foot for landing any move. They are great if you are looking just for show as they do not give you the squished toe look that the other ones do but that is about it.

    https://www.studioveena.comhttp&#58://www.shoebuy.com/pi/pleas/pleas242245_136207_jb.jpg

OMG I have those too and I totally agree. They were originally purchased for "bedroom" fun but when I got my pole I tried dancing in them and hell no! They are only made for show LOL.

    Okay. . . there are a LOT. . .

Jenyne, Karol, The chick from Studio Antix, Sarah Creutel, Fleur, Saphire, the list can go on and on and on, lol. . .

But whenever I need inspiration I usually take a peek at Jenyne or Studio Antix, unless another pro has a performance vid up. . .

You forgot to list me Skittles!

And you know what else….I pole better with others. Does anybody else do that?

I suck when I’m alone, like really bad. But when I’m with other people I can do all kinds of stuff LOL….it’s wierd https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I can be a little like this. I think being around other dancers just inspires me to push a little harder, move a little more fluidly, etc.

I think I’m just trying to show off. LOL
