Basically just an extreme consciousness about time spent exercising and being healthy- I’m trying to work out around five times a week as opposed to my previous one day a week …
Come to me, muscles!

That’s awesome! I too started with very little strength and a slow beginning. I found that in addition to building up strength I was much more motivated to work out when I spent a little time just dancing around my pole (even if I couldn’t do many moves yet). But after 8 months of poling I am realizing that I never completely committed myself to it (only working out once a week and not doing any supplemental strength training) and so have plateaued… Now I’m diving in and just started the 100 day workout challenge on another thread so I can gain the strength to perfect the moves I know and finally move forward with new moves!
Just don’t give up, and work hard! You can get there jet like the rst of the pole dancers here did if you want it enough!

Day 4/100 – I did a morning workout of 40 minutes of the P90X Core Synergistics – didn’t quite get through the whole hour but I did most of it. My stomach feels yucky now, like nauseous. I think thats my abs being sore, I normally feel like this when I work my abs…. just hope it doesn’t ruin my day!

If you’re worried about weight loss then counting calories or at least making a food journal is a great way to be more conscious of your eating and try to alter it for the better.
Today I did a 10 minute Veena warm-up and a ten minute quick pole dance. Not a lot of time for much else. Tomorrow will be my first early morning workout though *grumbles*

It looks gorgeous https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I hope we’ll see more from you but noatter how slow you take it, don’t give up! Happy poling anniversary!

Thanks for the information and advice! I just decided to start the 100 day challenge in another thread, I’m gonna give this a serious go but I am Sooo bad at waking up in the morning. I’m trying to come up with ways to motivate myself to wake up. I think I’m gonna see if I can print some downloadable pics of awesome pole dancers and frame them to put by my bed and on the walls by my pole – so when I see them I’m reminded of how amazing they dance and my desire to get better.

Okay so I started by printing out a fit test from p90x to get some starting stats https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Resting heart rate : 68
10 minute warm-up (I used veena’s warm-up that got me to a small sweat)
Pole pull-ups : 1 (to failure)
Vertical leap : 10 inches
Push-ups : 30 (from knees- to failure)
Toe touch (distance beyond toes) : 0
Wall squat : 45 seconds (to failure)
Biceps – weight curls : 30 at 10 lb.
In-&-outs (legs curl to chest then extend out) : 37 (to failure)
Heart rate maximizer (taken after 1.5 minutes of jumping jacks and 30 seconds of extreme jumping jacks) : 158Finally I did one hour of pole with two friends https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Today was my day off work so I worked it hard.I decided that I’d like to work out at least 4 times a week, with at least two times being one-hour workouts and stretching for 30 minutes at least once a week. I will try for more than that but this is what I consider more obtainable.

I would like to do this as well, also going for strength rather than weight loss.
I’m hoping to accomplish….
Extended Butterfly
Spinning Inverted V
Pencil
Scissor Climb
15 real push-ups without a break
50 crunches without a breakI’m not sure if I’m going for too much or too little with my goals… but I guess if I master all of them then I’ll add more, and if I don’t master them then I’ll work harder next time https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I’ll probably try to round up a few pics and some current stats on my capabilities and post here =)As for exercising.. I’ve got the P90X from my boyfriend’s attempt at it (that didn’t last very long) but I’m not sure I’m ready for it >_< I don’t have an awful lot of endurance. I may try to get in some morning workouts (if I can get my lazy bum out of bed) but any advice on DVDs or specific exercises is appreciated. Any motivation help/advice is also MOST welcome!!

Eep I can’t imagine it would be easy to dance to Slipknot…. though I don’t know most of their songs by name so who knows… I agree APC is probably a good one to get into =)
-
*ashamed* I need to get on the ball here, I seriously only work out once a week and that’s poling for a good 1-2 hours *blush*
I was thinking of adding gymnastics once a week as well, but I might just try to get a deal on some pole strengthening classes where I used to take my pole lessons and try to get in more often… but I have a problem with the fact that I tend to get sore for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks when I work out, and I work weird hours so I get home late in the evening and am worn out already… Any advice?

I’ll be there! Is no one else going??
I’m planning on attending the bingo pole crawl on Friday, the competition on Saturday, and a couple of workshops on Sunday. =) Beyond that I haven’t a clue =P

I really liked depeche mode’s nwer song "corrupt" as well as some others of theirs, as far as goth rock goes https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Also marilyn Manson "nobodies" and smashing pumkins "eye" that I can think of right off https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yesss! Congrats on getting it sorted out. M&Ms felt our pole dancing WRATH!!!!
(Rawr!) -
Hmm, I’ve been looking at my diet since I saw this post and, while not eating anything amazingly horrid, I’m definitely not eating "clean". I want to eat more healthy so I can feel better and be less fatigued and such, I’m just afraid of losing weight if I do eat "right" – I wish there was a book out there on how to eat right but maintain weight! I don’t wanna be a toothpick!
-
I would just make sure you don’t post it within the next couple of days after
-
I would just keep trying it- when I did it the first time I couldn’t hold, but after just persisting and trying a couple of times I got it. And if you don’t have the thighs to do it just yet, I imagine you will help build them by trying over and over to do the crucifix =)
-
I just got my bottom-loading pole. There’s probably an 1/8" separation/rise where the bottom plate covers over the pole, but it’s not been a big deal for me during my first workout on it.

I definitely think the best idea for this was mentioned in starting a forum section for "LOCATION SEARCH" or some name like that– with threads for each area named by state/country etc… for people to VOLUNTEER their location in an organized manner (without having to search through ONE thread for people in their state). But we don’t have access to add a forum section! We need to get on this! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Does anyone know if the PS poles need to be taken down regularly as well??

Love the nakey song lol
My mom was a "naked" mommy… We bathed together when I was pretty young, but now I just don’t wanna see it. I definitely agree that your child will give you signs to let you know when it’s not OK anymore, and I definitely think that that point is at or before the time the child discovers sexuality and the like.

I second the challenge for everyone to pole to the same song- it could be really cool to see how different everyone flows through the song.
I also liked the "you danced to WHAT?" theme.
