So after turning the AC up so your room was a nice, cool 72, did your pole get more grippy? Please let me know – I’m looking at buying a pole, think the brass poles at the studio are super easy to grip, but am afraid of buying the chrome because I’ve heard of people saying how slick it is!! I’ve never been on anything other than the brass poles at the studio. Also, do you tend to notice the joints in the pole when you use it? I would be fearful of the joints and holes for the hex keys being abrasive…
I know this may sound strange, but do you think it would be possible for me to one day come over and try yours out? We talked about a BBQ earlier in the summer and I was sick that day. Please let me know! Thanks!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif

I’ve got an xpert with the joints and hex key holes…I have NEVER ever noticed the joints or the holed whilst using my pole. I think they are perfectly engineered. I love the smooth transition of each piece. It’s a very fine quality pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I initially had some problems with my xpert but once I figured that out I have had no problems at all. I’ve taken it down twice and put it back up without any fuss. It’s a good pole and I love the bottom loading. I guess it all depends on what’s more important for you. Personally, I’m happy with mine https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
(50mm chrome xpert) best wishes with yours doll!

Hey doll I agree with everyone’s advice. It took me time to get the sit and at first I could only hold it for a sec, then I would drop off th epole both legs open and SCREAM OH MY GOODNESS it HUUUUUUURTS!! yes, and I think I have a few curse words in a vid of me doing that.
YES the sit hurts something horrible at first. I had to "train" my thighs into the sit. I would take a min out of each practice and attempt to sit for as long as I could and then get down when it was enough. Most times it was only a few seconds. it also helps if you squeeze muscles so your skin isn’t the only thing holding you up.

Lotion!!! Ugh I know your pain. I am also a brown girl and I feel so scaly when I don’t use lotion. Here’s what works for me. I usually shower right after the gym and I lotion up in the shower because the heat helps it absorb. Then I don’t pole for probably 5-6 hours. Sometimes I am still ashy when I practice but if you watch any of my vids, ya totally can’t tell! The camera hide it…I also noticed you can’t see my cellulite YAY!

In any case, keep on trying you will get better yaay for you!

Rena, I know I have the same problem because I run so much my hammies are so darned tight. I stretch immediately after I run for probably twenty mins for my splits but it’s like hell trying to loosen up my hams. I went ahead and bought a book charlie recommended, and it advises to actively stretch instead of passive stretching. Apparently if you contract the muscles during a stretch you get a better stretch. I have been trying this but I feel like an idiot https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I will be following this thread just to see what everyone has to say. Keep on stretching hun, you are looking great!

Hey! I also love to run. I started running when I was in the army and I honestly hated it. I think because we were pushed until we barfed lol!
After having a baby and dealing with graves disease which left me unable to exercise for a year, I got back into running again. I learned that you don’t have to run fast to gain benefits. I started by run-walking and now I can easily run 6 miles and feel good after. Of course it takes me a whole hour, but I can do it :0)
Last month I finished my first half marathon and I must say I was very proud of my little self. Of course I had the blisters to prove it, but It was a great experience. I am currently working on a ten mile turkey trot. I plan to trot and that’s it. I realized that I don’t enjoy competition and I don’t like running fast, but If I can keep my own pace, then I can pretty much run forever. So to answer your question, YES I like to run too YAY! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Honestly thanks. I caught this thread and was immediately intrigued. I have the same problem…I am like 2 inches from the front splits on the right and probably 5 on the left…ugh! Every time I stretch it’s after a run. So it’s usually after about an hour of running so I am pretty warm. I can’t get down that far without running first tho. I have tried over splits by putting my front foot onto a folded up yoga mat. Will check out that book tho sounds like a good idea!

***just ordered it on amazon for 4 bucks!!

is that the center of where the dome lies?? It kinda looks like the pole pushed it against the ceiling, maybe over tightening?..I really don’t know. If you do get an answer about it please post again so we all can see okay?

this snap is quite normal. I think it’s because the parts do not get a lot of work so they snap like that when they are new.. I always try to loosen and tighten them several times when I take it apart and put it back up so that it isn’t such a pain in the butt. Have fun with your expert!!

Yeah I totally understand your pain. I started on a black powder coated lil mynx. The mynx is almost rubberty to touch so as long as it is clean I had no problems with slip. When I got my Xpert Chrome I completely lost my grip. It took a few weeks before I could grip again. I also realized quickly that it takes about ten-15 min of rubbing, spinning and touching the pole to make it hot enough and then it does eventually become more grippy, although it is NEVER as grippy as my mynx used to be. Good luck with yours hun, it does take some time.

First of all that was amazing. You are terribly strong!! I love that you did every move slow and deliberate. You are right about the guys, they are really typical but still kinda funny. I think it’s cute when they hop on and this it’s gonna be "so easy" and then they fall on their bums lol! lotsa fun, thanks for sharing! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

That’s why I love me some shay shay…" I’m having fun and you’re missing out!" Too cute but well said.

Don’t worry about what others think. If it is negative it should motivate you to prove them wrong, either with education or by demonstration. Thats one reason why I love to pole dance, because I know its controversial and people will make a big deal of it and I can say oh well I’m having fun and your’re missing out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I currently have all three of Leigh Ann’s vids. I bought them last weekend after attending her workshop. Mostly I love her style. The beginner vid is very basic but it has 5 combos in it which help when you are standing at the pole with no idea what to do ( happens to me all the time) I don’t know muc how to be all sexy so watching the "stripper walk" in the beginning and how to crawl I think will help me out a lot. I did not know how to walk or crawl before this. I like the hip rolls and drops in the combos aw well as on back arch to the floor in one of the combos. Overall I love her vds, they can be a bit hard to follow because I don’t have a background in dance but that just means I have to watch them over and over which I don’t mind. I like them so thumbs up.

I also have the art of pole. The art of pole is more just moves. I didn’t learn many transitions that I can remember but I did learn lots of spins and inverts. SO thumbs up on hers too. I think her vids lean more toward gymnasticability (if that’s a word) than sexy dance like Leigh Ann’s

    hope that helps
