Picture: Two pole dancers, the first girl with her arms crossed and a pouty face, standing next to her short pole, and the second girl with a gleaming smile, standing next to her tall pole.
Caption: Pole Envy. Now we know how men feel.
Picture: A women hanging upside down on the pole.
Caption: Gravity = Wrinkles. It can’t get me if I’m upside down!

You did a great job on the video!! I think everyone is self-conscious about how they look or sound when they see and hear themselves, I know I am! You did great though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif
I have a few questions; the first is about primer. I don’t use primer, I put on my "mask" of foundation and powder before I apply eye make-up, which does lead to some creasing issues. So, if I use primer, can I use that in conjunction with my foundation and powder "mask"? If so, primer first, and then foundation and then powder or is there a different order or does it have to be one or the other?
Also, I get all my make-up at the drug store, so do you have a recommendation for a good primer that I would find at the drug store?
Second question, is gel eyeliner similar to liquid? I use liquid because pencil doesn’t work well with my "mask", pencil tends to smear, run and get messy (since it sits on top of foundation), where the liquid stays put. I’m wondering if gel would work similarly? Is it more like a pencil or a liquid?
Thanks!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

I’m in the same boat. With the Christmas season, I have been noticing all the gifts, trinkets and home decor dedicated to "Friends" and how wonderful, special and important they are. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif (j/k)
I certainly don’t get it , because I have don’t have that in my life. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
My "friends" consist of my husband – who I have been separated from for the past 5 months, and my mom and sister – whose relationships tend to produce so much stress that I have to take those interactions in carefully monitored doses.
So, yeah, I am a lonesome weirdo too. Pretty lame https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

Anxiety . . . the story of my life https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
I had such horrible anxiety, that lead to such severe panic attacks, that I didn’t leave my house for months. Didn’t take the kids to school, didn’t go grocery shopping, didn’t do anything at all if it involved leaving my house – the one thing I HAD to do was show up for Christmas at my moms, and I think I came pretty close to dying (in retrospect, of course not, but at the time, it sure felt that way). My aunt gave me an Ativan that night and after that I got my own script and started to take it before bed every night – it helped me sleep and eased the intensity of the anxiety incredibly. Amazing what a good nights sleep and awakening without an anxiety monster on your chest can do.
Once I had a good month of feeling a bit more comfortable, I began to ease off the medication and have not used it since – unless it was desperately necessary (i.e., a trip to Florida because being far from home is a huge trigger and the other time was when meeting with a lawyer over a long standing issue with my son’s school). So 2x in the past year or so ain’t so bad https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Looking back, I feel like having the gift of a month to get in the pattern of having more healthy thoughts, and not ones ridden and poisoned with panic, was the best thing I could have done and the only way to break the horrible cycle I had gotten into. The problem with all anti-anxiety meds are that they have the tendency to be very addicting, so you have to always keep that in mind and use them with a mindful goal and short term intentions.
I learned everything I could about anxiety and panic. Knowledge is power. There is a great book called The Anxiety and Panic Workbook. There is also a good website called paniccenter.net.
The best tool I have learned is relaxation breathing (where you breathe super deep and fill your lungs completely with air, so that your belly sticks out and at the same time, breathe slow) and that has worked the best for me. I kinda suck at the meditation and "think of a calm place and imagine yourself there" thing, but breathing, I do that all the time, I can figure that out https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Since the darkest part has passed, I have done quite well. I started working with a therapist on how to completely rid myself of this crap and haven’t had much success. Mine came out of nowhere and I was hoping it would leave the same way, but it still kinda lurks in the background, which is frustrating. My therapist wants me to embrace my inner child and comfort her and tell her it’s okay to be scared – whereas I have less compassion – I get anxiety and I get pissed – I am angry that I have to deal with it and that it interferes with my life in any way – I want my old self back. So, that whole issue is still a work in progress. She wants me to embrace it, I wanna kick it’s ass https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
My anxiety and depression has been diagnosed as free-floating; meaning there is no specific cause. It comes in ebbs and tides, certain times of the month I seem to fare better then others. And, it appears it is not going away. So, since it wants to continue to bother me, I’m just going to continue to fight it.
Things that have helped me:
1. The Anxiety and Panic Workbook
2. paniccenter.net
3. Learning how to breathe through panic
4. Stopped watching the news
5. Making time for myself & exercising (pole)
6. Journaling whatever I feel like journaling
7. Made a list of all the things that make me happy
8. Made a list of all the things that I like about me7 & 8 are way corny, but they do work. Depression and anxiety go hand-in-hand and running through my mental list of "happy thoughts" now and then has helped – I’m already thinking about Tootsie Rolls and smiling. Also, my mental list about what I like about me and what makes me a good person helps when I have anxiety that deals with social situations (where I generally feel the most disconnected and uncomfortable).
I hope some piece or part will help in some way. Since I have opened up about my little demon, I am amazed at how many people deal with the exact same stuff. Sometimes it just helps to know you aren’t the only freak. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_dwarf.gif

I have that funky spot on spin mode too. All the bubbles on my level indicate that it’s a go, so I think my "spot" is from over-tightening. At one time, I loosed things just a bit and ended up having slippage issues and still hit a funky spot anyway! I think that my ceiling itself is not perfectly level – but I also think that any home that is over 10 years old is going to have settling issues; leaving you with ceilings or floors that are less than perfectly level. In any case, I’d rather keep things over-tightened, hit a funky spot, and feel safe in knowing that my pole isn’t going to budge.

As far as put-up/take down for the X-Pole, I cheat, and it only takes 3-5 minutes. I keep the entire pole all put together and just store it in our coat closet.
So, when it’s time to play, all there is to do is take the pole out, stick the dome on it, twist the pole to tighten it up to the ceiling, use the level and make all the final tweaks to make sure it’s nice and straight, now that it is – give it a few more good turns to make sure it is secure and snug, righty-tighty the nuts/bolts/screws (whatever they are called LOL), slide up the adjuster sleeve and you are good to go.
I also made a tiny mark on my ceiling where the support beam is so I don’t have to search for it every time; and since I have a crappy house anyway, I traced out where the bottom of the pole goes with light pencil on the floor too – saves time when I am trying to get the pole straight and level.

I feel crunched up too, but looking back at practice vids, it’s not as bad as I am imagining either. I almost feel it is a low ceiling issue. I can’t get as high or straight as I’d like or I’ll whack my toes on the ceiling.
When I got to play at a studio (with big tall poles and ceilings) I instantly felt straighter with all the extra room, I don’t know if I really was, but it sure felt like it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

. . . . you spend 10 minutes explaining to others that no, those aren’t hickeys on your neck, those are the battle wounds of the shoulder mount. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_blackeye.gif
. . . . you stole the heater out of the kids room to warm up your pole (but you left them extra blankets https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif )
. . . . you go winter clothes shopping and 90% of what you come home with is sports bras and booty shorts. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
. . . . you wage "I bet you couldn’t climb this using only your arms" or other various strength challenges with anyone who dismisses pole dancing as slutty. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
. . . your nervous about you upcoming gyno appt. because of all the bruising https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

a lot of namebrand lines like MAC have duplicate products from other lines that are carried at Walgreens and they are almost identical!
Can you reveal the secret product? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I always hear about how great MAC products are, and I’m not opposed to trying the cheaper drug store version!
