Shell – It's in this thread. Amy has two responses in here, the info on stacking weight is in the second response. There's also some other great info in there too, but here's the part about stacking weight:
"-when you are in aysha, make sure that you have a slightly rounded back (this is called hollow body in aerial arts: pantera didn't refer to it this way but this is a description–https://www.studioveena.com/outbound_links/t/?l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ehow.com%2Fhow_2210492_do-holl … mnast.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and a pic is here:https://www.studioveena.com/outbound_links/t/?l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.americanparkour.com%2Fimages%2Fa … wrock1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). dont stick your butt or chest out. this also allows your body weight to stack smoothly through your body/spine and transfer straight into your arm. i am used to sticking my butt out, since i started with the forearm grip aysha and in that one, you stick your butt out to counterbalance your legs and get your crotch away from the pole."
I couldn't get the links to open, so I'm still kinda clueless about the hollow body part. I did my first one more like your too – close to the pole, legs up instead of straddled : P This time around I'm going to concentrate on rolling my back and tucking out into the straddle – kinda how you tuck into an invert to get to the chopper. Hopefully that'll get me closer to the pic. And yes, the back flipping off the pole thing scares me too, I think that is part of the hesitiation of getting my legs where they need to be.
One other part I am still fuzzy on is that bottom arm – you don't want that to be locked straight, right? You want to keep a slight bend? Is that the rule of thumb for all moves – never lock your arm?
-
I finally got this a few days ago and I am paying for it today. Wishing I would have saw Amy's post about how to stack your weight because I apparently did not and my back is not happy about it.
Going back to read, and re-read (ten times or so LOL) so I don't make that mistake again. Holding your weight is a great accomplishment, but if your not holding it correctly, it hurts.

I love knowing peoples "stories" – where they came from, what started them out, how they learned, their trials and tribulations, etc. She does have this uninterested air about her during her performances, but I like that, it's part of her charm I think. It seems like her and pole were meant for each other, and I see why she has this "what, it's not hard" attitude, everything seems so simple to her – very natural and effortless. It's unfortunate that she's falling away from pole, but, so be it, everyone has to do what makes them happy I suppose.
As for USPDF and vids, I don't get that either. Once a comp is over, they should have some means of airing the competition (DVD sales, or just via the internet). It would serve as a good way to bring and keep interest in the event. I still feel incomplete not having seen Alethea's handcuff performance. And, why oh why can't they find a way to put this on TV?!! I mean really, they televise golf and not pole dancing!!! C'mon!!
I would love to see Wikipole have a section about the women in the sport and their stories. They have a link under navigation that displays a random page and it just happened to pop up a bio on Jenyne Butterfly. I never realized that she took a job as a cocktail waitress at a club in order to pay for school (and it just so happened that was the same club that Pantera worked at)! And that was how she became interested and involved in the pole world – such cool little facts!! But, I can't figure out how to navigate back to that – it just was the random page that popped up at that time. We totally need a TMZ for pole dancers : )
Thanks for sharing your info and links!!

Too bad Vertical Pole Challenge never aired, it looked awesome!!
USPDF website has a few highlight reels, but I'd love to go back and see the whole competitions from the previous years. Oh well, I guess I'll just keep youtubing it to get my fix https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Amy, thanks for the bad news LOL, but I know it's 100% right (although it feels sooo wrong).
The leg hangs are probably the worst – hanging with my shorter, weaker leg feels so unsecure and it's hard to adjust my torso in the right position cause the whole body alignment is different for that side – the whole thing is just an akward mess – and all the points of contact get screwy too. Climbing left – it feels like there are weights strapped to my butt – that one makes me sweat (woo-hoo cardio!).
Chem – yup, I'm a goofy mess LOL It's not noticible unless you really stand there and look and compare – probably the most noticible in my legs (and of course I always failed those scolosis screenings in school). Pole . . easy . . . hah!! I miss you too girl!!
Good to know left side isn't unobtainable, just a pain in the butt.

Shako, I'm hesitant to use that one because you have to convert it on their website and I don't want my pole videos ending up in cyber space for everyone to see. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
Jenn, I tried that one also and the end result was a very choppy video. What file type to you convert to? I did AVI, maybe I'm using the wrong output type?

Bartending and cocktail waitressing are great quick cash options to hold you over.
Good luck!

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif I just got my first notification!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

At one time I changed my notification preferences, and now that I have changed them back, but I haven't received any notifications? I think I may be on the blacklist or somehow marked SV messages as spam and can't figure out how to undo that?

I had two of the issues that you had (as well as a few other issues); the pinging in the dome and the X-Joint with the flush hex screw. In going through all the trouble shooting with customer service, they mentioned and had me check for these other defects too:
1. Microbase – flat faces (where the screws hold it in stationary) are not aligned with the X's etched on the plate.
2. X-Joint – Circular things that are supposed to stick out a bit are either flush with joint or in-set in the joint.
3. Issue with Bottom Thing – This is a tough one to explain, but there is that small section of the pole (maybe a two inch section) where the two screws are that hold the pole in stationary – directly above that, there will be a "seam" the whole way around. If it is not just a seam and actually a complete break away from the rest of the pole this is a defect.
-
Whoa, that sounds not at all normal!!
Are you talking about the three screw on the adjuster rod? If so, there is a cover that goes over that. Maybe yours didn't get packed in with your shipment?
Or are you talking about the two screws at the bottom that make the pole stationary or spinny? Those should be flush with your pole too, if they aren't I'd give customer service a call.
Or maybe post some pics here and someone can help you troubleshoot.

Who knew sticking your thumb up your butt could fix the problem LMAO
Every time I get this now, I can't help but giggle cause in the back of my head I'm thinking "thumb in the butt, thumb in the butt."
Another thing Chem taught me that night – Butterfly – for that one I just have to remember to stick my head way down in there and "smell my armpit" and I have perfect form LOL
Yes, I have an usual learning style. Once I get upside down I can't grasp right from left or which is the strong arm, so I use silly sayings like "thumb in the butt" and "smelly pit".

I can't figure out how to quote people with the new format, but what Jenn said about her boyfriend being really supportive until he found out it wasn't about pleasing him – that is exactly how it was for me too. The idea of a stripper pole was all good, until the realization hit that I didn't get this for HIS benefit and pleasure. Then he got really jealous, really quick. Kinda laughable that he got so pissed over a metal object.
I've also noticed a very direct correlation between his pole happiness or pole disdain – it is very dependent on whether or not he's "getting some" – but that's pretty much the case with everything in our life. If I am putting out, I can do no wrong LOL

So, everyone else is thinking splits for the New Year's Resolution too? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I started following this 6 week plan to and have no idea what the karate stance is, and the lunge (thanks for the pic!!) I was doing all wrong – I had my legs out to the sides instead of in front and back of my body. Oops. The Supine I can only do using a rubber band, I can't reach my ankles. And the very last stretch – stretching for the actual splits, I don't understand. I don't know if the goal is to do side splits or front splits? It seems like the goal is front splits?
I have been stretching for a whole three days straight (woo-hoo!) and when I started, I couldn't even bend over and touch the floor with my fingertips (while keeping a straight leg and straight back) and three days into it and I am able to go palms flat on the floor!!!!! I doubt I am any closer to the splits, but just touching the floor is accomplishment enough for me.
I've found it actually enjoyable to stretch – but probably don't do it correctly. I don't warm up or anything, I just do it while I am watching TV at night. I also had to draw a little stick figure key to remember the stretches. He-he.

I have a horrible habit of pulling at my shorts/undies – I’m okay if I’m moving, I get stuck on what to do with my hands when I’m in a pose, like a scorpio or gemini. That is when pretty hands defeat me.

Yay, another Ohio girl!! I still have yet to do Veena’s lessons, but it is one of my New Year’s plans; to make ME TIME on a daily basis (of course I picked pole for my "me time" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif ) and get some lessons from Ms. Veena!!! I got my pole (the X pert) without having had any lessons or experience and have spent my time thus far just learning and playing at home. I just thought it would be something I could really enjoy in terms of a workout, and it is that and so much more. With your yoga and pilates background, you have a great advantage for picking up and progressing quickly, IMO.
That chica above me (Chemmie) is a good one to know https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif She has all the info on where to take classes locally, knows every bar that has a pole, knows of any and every event involving a pole, keeps all us pole girls linked together and plan lots of pole outings. She’s kinda the unofficial President of the Ohio pole club https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

From what I gathered in my brief investigation, you can only eat beans, fish and veggies and touch nothing that has been processed or frozen in any way.

This is killing me!
I know it!!!! I’m trying to justify and rationalize a way to have this – it’s almost painful.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_smurfin.gif Fantasy: If we moved to a new house with taller ceilings and more room, I could totally have my own pole room with two poles. Oh, it would be awesome.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif Reality: We live in Ohio, we bought our house at the height of the market and will never be able to move without losing all of our money – unless (fantasty #2) I win the lottery.

Polebunny, I didn’t know you were an Ohio girl!
Name: Alyssa
Age: 32
Location: Near Cleveland, Ohio
Stage Name: Mariah
Lessons or Self-Taught: Self-Taught, but I want to take lessons, I’m hitting walls with progress
Spin or Static: Static, Spin still makes me sick
Shoes or Barefoot: Barefoot. I need taller ceilings for heels.
Favorite Pole Move: I think the Allegra is pretty. The coolest move I ever saw in person was Pantera’s ceiling walk.
Day Job: Mom
Best Feature: I guess I have to pick boobs, since they were so expensive.
How You Got Into Pole Dancing: Always wanted to do it, finally just decided to buy a pole and try it.
How You Found SV: Google searched pole dance forums to find other gals who learn at home
What kind of Undies: Boy shorts that don’t go up your butt for daytime, Granny Panties with my PJ’s -
PDR, when I used to live in my condo, I had this nice huge patio window that the sun would shine through – I would lay in my house butt naked sunning myself (I was up too high for anyone to see, especially if I was lying flat on the floor).
I don’t know if you get any of the nasty rays that way – it didn’t tan me or anything, I just felt like it gave me a good dose of the sun that was lacking in the winter. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Would a One-A-Day type Vitamin cover me for the B12 and Vitamin D?
