MemberOctober 8, 2010 at 4:28 am in reply to: I am so SICK of the negative stereotype surrounding pole!oh honey! a few weeks ago i had someone come into my home & tell me that i was an attention whore because i have a pole in my home https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif seriously pissed me off, i’m sure you can imagine, lol! but you know what? we (pole people) know better! & we know how hard it is & how great it makes us feel && what a wonderful workout it is https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif the only thing any of us can do is just keep on poling & show our strength, if someone challenges your opinion on it you can show them some hard moves, or show them a tasteful pole video with a lot of hard tricks in it. i just sat there like an idiot because i was stunned https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif i didn’t even defend myself https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif that was mainly because it was my boyfriends sister (now my ex boyfriend) & i didn’t want to fuss with someone who could have been my family at some point… looking back, i really wish i had asked her to go try a easy move, like a fireman spin or something easy like that because we all know its harder than it looks & i think it would have changed her tone.
i hope & pray pole gets into the olympics because i know that would change a lot of peoples minds about it & show that it doesn’t have to be seductive. -
first off, i ALWAYS start off without grip aid https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif but, i use grip aid when it too hot or humid here, i live in GA USA, the south is hot & humid though the summer months so it is just now getting to where i can pole without it again daily. sometimes i like to use grip aid or mighty grip gloves when i am using spin mode, instead of grip aid, just because it makes me feel more secure trying new stuff. when i use it, i usually put a little on my inner thighs & behind my knees & sometimes on my inner elbows && then i wipe most of it off my hands with rubbing alcohol, this allows me to spin freely & still have a little extra grip https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
i have a stainless steel pole.
i have mighty grip & iTac2… i personally like the iTac2 better but it all depends on your skin type & pole texture & climate.
i have found if you contact grip aid companies a lot of them will send you a sample so you may want to try that before you spend $20 on something that may or may not work for you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gifgood luck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

i got my mighty grip gloves from http://www.thepoledancingshop.com/products/Pole-Dancing-Gloves.html
they were $16 & shipping was less thank $2! & they have a hand sizing chart on the page. i ordered mine on a sunday night & they were here by wednesday https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
i also wanted to add that i have ordered from that company a few times now & i really like them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif incase anyone was wondering -
i have the "tacky" mighty grip gloves for those days when its just too hot & sweaty for spin mode & i love them! i already have calluses so i can’t say if they would prevent them or not.

seeing how several of the pros have a problem with pole conditions at a HUGE competition is really freaking me out!
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gifi really want to always be in control of cleaning any pole that i use… after seeing this i don’t trust other people to be pole cleaners https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

wow!!! that first fall (or maybe a drop) looked like it hurt too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif & then falling from the truss https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif i would have cried && not been able to handle myself so gracefully. she did a great job though! i hate that she fell at worlds, that sucks! && to me, it just makes her better than i already thought she was because of how she handled herself & kept going.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif go Jenyne!!! you are awesome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

i agree! the guy who did the video didn’t get the point https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif it’s like "duh bro, if you are watching football && all they do is show players faces && not the actual game you would be mad so what makes you think we just wanna see body parts" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

yes! i have carpet in my pole room & i have learned how to avoid carpet burn all together https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif hard floors are more difficult for me though (for now)

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif i actually have entered to MGPDC as an amateur, this will be my first ever competition! i read through the stuff on alethea’s FB & i felt like everything with the MGPDC was all good! although this is the first year they are putting this on so there isn’t much to go on really, but all the info they have sent out has been very detailed (clothing & shoe requirements, what the judges are looking for, the layout of the poles & details about them &&& so on) & it is at a nice pole studio so i’m assuming the know about pole safety & have the proper insurance… although i didn’t even think to check on that part until now https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
i entered because it’s somewhat close to my home so i can go without having travel far & it was free to enter, i just want to see what it’s all about https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif i’m really looking forward to it & very nervous at the same time. like i said i’ve never done anything like this. -

i like iTac2 on most days but i sometimes use mighty grip. i can’t spin as well with the iTac2 but it is great for learning new tricks or if i am using spin mode!

i have my first competition coming up in less than a month, i usually do not have sweaty hands but when i’m nervous i do so i bought mighty grip gloves (the tacky ones). they are pretty inexpensive so i thought it would be a good thing to have on hand incase my nerves get to me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
good luck to you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

i have had mine done for about 6 years & i haven’t ever had a problem with it while poling. i have a hardcore pole that is 1 solid pole, no holes or joints. if i had to use a pole with a joint/holes in it i would get a big square bandage & stick it over my belly ring just to be safe https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif oh & i did get mighty grip on my belly ring once & it wasn’t so fun… i also got mighty grip down my shorts some how, that same day && that was far worse than getting it on my belly ring so don’t do that either, lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

i got several of the mirrors that go on the back of the door from target, they were $5 each, i hung them all together & made a "big" mirror for less than $30 !!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
-
i have to wear heels (thats their rules, not mine) && i need to figure out some sort of outfit… ugg! i really don’t wanna ruin my good pole shorts with "bedazzleness" lol! i have one pair i LOVE & they are discontinued now so i’ll have to try to find another pair to decorate or maybe some that are already cute…
thanks for the help girls https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
