Ditto what Sarah said! The coldness of the gel surprised me, the laser wasn’t painful but it causes warmth depending on the density of the hair being lasered. So most of it was just warm with little pulses, the hottest area for me was around the labia, I don’t know whether that’s just me or if others find that. The lady said she’d turn it down if it got too hot for me, but the warmer you can tolerate the fewer sessions you’ll need, so I visualised a nice hot bath and it was tolerable. The difference I noticed after even the first session was just so amazing, I am really looking forward to never having to shave again, no more stubble, and no more ingrowns from waxing!!

But yeah the gel. Cold and gooey. Imagine being slathered in KY. I don’t know if your salons are better equipped but mine doesn’t have showers or anything so we just get given a bunch of tissues to wipe up as best we can (after she’s removed the excess), I didn’t know that before I started but now I dress in stuff that doesn’t matter and wash and change as soon as I’m home!

For those thinking of doing laser, the darker your hair is the better it will work, I had it before in a different place and it didn’t make a difference as my hair is too light.

Yes I was told dark hair and white skin has the best results. Laser energy is absorbed by the darker tissue around the hair root, so if your skin is dark then it’ll absorb the radiation rather than just the hair root. Similarly, if you have blonde hair it won’t absorb so well and again, no result.

My first session cost £300, and the second one £250. I’m getting legs, pits ‘n’ bits done. I can keep my panties on and just move them to the side so it’s not too embarrassing. Plus the lady who’s doing it is an ex-nurse and has had 2 kids so she’s seen it all before and it totally cool about everything, which helps when you’re as body-shy as I am!!

Hey guys, just to let you know I won’t be here for bendy buddies tomorrow night as I’ve got a work social bowling night thing. Hopefully catch you all next time!

I’ve joined the laser crowd too – just had my 2nd session. Nair never worked for me, hairs too thick and coarse. Shaving worked, but I’d have stubble by bedtime which is just not sexy. Waxing worked a treat, although I still had to shave the closest bits as couldn’t rip the wax strips off there. My secret was massaging teething gel into the area first! The waxed areas also got awful ingrown hairs. I’m totally a laser convert, it costs a bomb but when you think about how much you’ll spend on razors/wax in your lifetime it works out cheaper!

Nitelife in Aberdeen, I use them all the time. Postage time can be a bit slow if things aren’t in stock, as they have to wait for more to come in from the States, so it’s worth ordering by phone if you want to check things are in stock first.

I think everyone’s already said what my doctor told me… yawn, sniff and swallow.

She suggested inhaling steam with a few drops of olbas oil in it (if you guys have that over there?).

Apparently these 3 things are supposed to change the inner balance somewhere and pull the build-up down to the throat or something… I’m not a medic so probably remembering all confused! but blowing your nose is going to build up the pressure again.

Personally, inhaling steam has done absolutely nothing to clear my ears (although it helped my nose a bit), and she checked there is no wax build-up, so I’m going back! Hope you feel better soon!

This one is on Amazon, for my fellow Brits who can’t find it elsewhere… I don’t know if it’s the right artist though
