I took a 6 month pole "vacation" and left my pole up. I took it down when I started up again and it came apart – it was a bit tougher than usual, but it did unscrew (even without having to resort to the shock method).
Even if it is stuck, you should be able to still use it. You just won’t be able to pack it up nice and neat like you could before.
I’d say just do it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif The longer it stays up, the worse it may get.

Yes, You can….. We do it all of the time for people…You just need to MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR PAPER WORK IN ORDER like Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure for example. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif
Lol, that’s exactly the kind of stuff I’m talking about… I don’t know what kind of paperwork I would need, no idea how to go about getting the actual designs made up so the people making it know what they’re doing, and no clue who to call to actually make the thing. Not to mention I’d worry that the quality wouldn’t turn out like what I would want it to be – I’d want my poles to be as good as X-Pole, Platinum Stages, Lil Mynx, etc. and not end up with a Peek-a-boo. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
Also I’d worry about getting accused of ripping off other pole manufacturers’ ideas. Since I have an X-Pole, my idea might be eerily similar to an X-Pole design and they might not like that very much… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
I think I’m just going to have to sit down and Google search the heck out of this stuff, even though I’m still not really sure what to enter in the search field…

If X-Pole US is out of stock, then good luck finding someone that has them in stock because X-Pole US is the source. Maybe call them and ask them if any of their retailers has any in stock still? Would they even have that information? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
I dunno… maybe just be patient until they get more *shrug*

Do you have pic or vid of someone doing the move? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I honestly can’t figure out what you’re trying to describe… but we all know I’m not the brightest crayon in the box https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

I’m sorry for your daughter… I had to laugh at the end though when the other girl said she was leaving because your daughter went for her face. I say that girl was stupid enough to start it so she shouldn’t be surprised if the other person does what they can to defend themselves – duh! There is no reason for any disagreement to become physical…
I flagged it, good luck and keep us posted if it gets taken down.

My mother-in-law saw this on a TV show:

No idea if it’s any good, I haven’t tried it yet…

Hmmm… thanks, Rubi. The problem with doing it on my own is that I would have no idea where to begin. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif It’s very intimidating… It’s not like you can just call a pole factory and say "Hey, can you make this?" and they do it. How would you go about doing something like that? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I was very much reminded of Felix when I was watching her… must be a flexible person thing.
A few of those moves took a little while to set up, though, kinda broke the flow of the performance in my opinion.
Very, very impressive, though, I faved it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I posted a happy b-day on your Facebook, but I’ll do one here too because I can:

I’m pretty sure the base and the dome are the same for both poles, so I’d imagine that you can just buy the adapter and the main pole pieces for the 45. That is if they sell them separately, anyway – and I’d check and see how much you would really be saving by buying the pieces separately like that. If there isn’t a huge price difference, you might just as well go for the entire pole. But I’d research it.
You could call or email X-Pole customer service to ask if you want, their customer service is awesome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Cold pole = less grip. Do a bunch of spins and climbs and such to warm up the pole then try your holds.
I’ve been having this problem, too – it’s been in the single digits here in NY and I have no grip whatsoever. Very frustrating, I know! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m hoping it’s going to get better though because I’m loaning them my art of pole set and hopefuly they will learn that the have to say these things, but ehh till then I’ll have to learn how to be safe here and my freind will have to wait till she’s not prego to try anything unsupervised.
You’re loaning your studio instructional DVDs on how to pole? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif Did I read that correctly? I would take that as a very very bad sign if I were you… I know you said disciplining yourself to pole at home is a problem, but by the sounds of it you would be better off using those DVDs by yourself at home than going to a studio who appears to have no idea what they’re doing.
Your friend that’s pregnant – how far along is she? If she’s more than 3 months she should definitely NOT be inverting! I don’t even think it’s recommended to invert at all once you find out you’re pregnant… The instructor should have been much more cautious with your friend.
I believe the moves you are talking about are called a boomerang (upright) and upside down it’s called an aysha or a straightedge split. From you’re story, it sounds like the instructor was teaching you to invert then go directly into the aysha – that is VERY bad! The instructor shouldn’t be teaching you to invert on your first lesson, first of all, and second the aysha is an advanced move! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif
This first week of class, in my opinion, the instructor should have spent assessing your skill level on the pole and filling in any gaps. Having you (and your pregnant friend) inverting on the first lesson was not a good idea, and trying an aysha within only a few lessons was an even worse one.
I know you really want this, but I think you’re going to get hurt… I’d find another studio. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

You could also try http://www.thepoledanceingshop.com too
Veena sells some booty shorts and tanks on this site, as well as sweatpants and sweatshirts, etc.
But you don’t necessarily need anything special – tank tops, sports bra, shorts (really short ones), booty shorts – anything that exposes a lot of skin so you can grip the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have to agree with you on the video viewing page format… However, the videos used to be listed the way that you’re describing, Dyvo, and Webmaster worked very hard at making the changes – so I really hate to say anything bad about it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif
I wouldn’t mind the way that the video page is set up if the scrolling bar didn’t reset whenever you clicked on a video. Right now I’ve been opening videos in a new tab just for that reason, which majorly slows down the browser. Also, I kinda miss seeing the username of the person that submitted the video along with the video title. I do like having the description and comments be selected to view them, but I think I’d like it better if it were off to the side – right now when you click, you can’t watch the video and read the comments and description at the same time because it bumps the video screen down too far. I do also like the categories like "lessons" and "challenges" being selectable compared to the old setup.
Just my opinion… I feel bad now, though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif – Webmaster does such a great job around here! I mean no offense, I swear! I’d completely respect it if you wanted to leave the videos the way they are now. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif

I pole because I suck at every other physical activity, lol. I do lots of craft-oriented hobbies so I usually spend my free time sitting down and I’ve always thought it would be nice to have something to do to get me off my butt; I admired the people that had the discipline to get up and run every morning before work, etc. and wanted to do something like that, too.
Well I found it with poling. I had been kinda sorta good at gymnastics when I was little, but only took lessons for a few months and I had a hard time learning the balance and strength necessary to do anything. But with a pole, you learn your balance and gain strength because you have something to hold onto and you’re doing the simple-yet-not-so-simple task of keeping your body off the floor. Perfect combination for someone like me.
The dance aspect of it is what makes it fun and not just a discipline or a sport. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
-
I can’t do this one and pretty much don’t know anything about it, except that it’s an advanced type of grip. It takes more strength to be able to do it, at least to do it without straining something (I think)… Anyone I’ve ever seen learn it did so after learning at least one of the other standard grips. It’s just more impressive because it’s more advanced, as far as I could tell.
But I could be wrong, that’s just the impression I get. I love to hear if it’s something different, though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif

@ knutschfleck – Oh it’s ok, I wasn’t trying to be mean, I just wanted Rubi to understand that the poles had to be just so for your method to work. I wasn’t trying to discredit you, I swear! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
And no, I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong with your pole if the holes don’t line up. I’m sure all the pieces are made slightly different. I also use an extension piece for my bottom pole because I have super short ceilings and needed the pole to be shorter than the standard kit, so that might be part of it.

Hey everyone,
I’m rather anal about my privacy on these sites – I had some issues last summer which was closely followed by people that I didn’t want to know that I poled finding me on Facebook, so I ended up deleting all my pole buddies.
Now that I’m back on the pole and since I’ve started taking advantage of the customized privacy settings, I really want to add my pole friends back on again. Send me a PM if you want to add me. However, some of you I don’t know very well so I may have parts of my profile blocked. It’s nothing personal – once I get to know you better I’ll unblock stuff. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif
A few of you I already found. Anyone else, send me a message if you want!

It’s funny how she mentioned wanting more bruises… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I can understand her not exactly liking it when people bring up Twilight. I’ll admit it, I’m kinda a Twi-Hard, and I’ve seen her do lots of interviews about it. It’s sorta like a pregnant woman getting sick of talking about babies and being pregnant. Kristen really does love the books, characters, etc. and is proud of her success, but I’d hate it too if I got swarmed on by photographers and every single question was about the same subject. I wouldn’t like being a celebrity just for that reason!

We took the pole down, removed the upper dome, base and extensions and put the super release tools in the holes, one on each side. Then we turned the pole so it was no longer the pole resting on the floor with the tools up but it was the tools on the floor (at an angle) and the pole up in the air. After that my friend got on the floor and used both hands to push down really hard on the pole, right in the middle. The trick is, the tools can’t go down into the floor, so they have no other way to go than out to each side and by doing that they unscrew both pole sections
Wouldn’t this only work if the tools happen to be just at the right angles? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif When I stick the tools in they are running in the same direction – parallel to each other – because the holes in my pole line up perfectly with each other when it’s up. And even if they didn’t the tools would have to be just right, otherwise you would end up tightening them instead of loosening them. I think you were very very lucky, Knutschfleck, that worked.
Rubi, you could try that, but it might not work. You could also wait for a climate change (I have no idea where you’re from) and try it again, too. I’ve found my pole is a pain to take apart in cold whether…

Oh Glitter I’m so sorry… I’m really at a loss for words – anything I’d say would probably not make you feel much better. The first thing that came to mind was something like, "At least you’re keeping tabs on it and you’re preventing it from becoming life-threatening." https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
While that is a good thing, I know that’s not your biggest worry right now. Don’t blame yourself and feel guilty about this – things happen, and there is no use dwelling in the past. Easier said than done, I know – I’m up at night crying thinking about past regrets myself, but I also do know that guilt and regret do absolutely nothing but make you more miserable. It will no nothing for you, or your boyfriend. Live for the present and future!
I’d say just take things in stride. Do what you have to do to take care of yourself, and then see what your options are for having children. It may not turn out the way you hope and you’ll need a good cry (or several of them), but maybe they will turn out ok. Hope is not lost yet. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I’ll be praying for you, keep us updated!

Not to put words in the mouth of the commenter, but I have a feeling they meant "authentic" in the sense of it being closer to its strip club roots. However, "authentic" doesn’t have to automatically mean that if you’re doing "fake" pole dance just because you choose to take the more gymnastics route.
I said this in my post in the "Sexuality…" thread before I deleted it, but one of the beauties of pole is that it can be whatever you want it to be. Everyone has their own preference and style, and they’re all executed on the same piece of equipment. Just because you use a pole doesn’t mean that you have to dance like a stripper, and if you’re like me and don’t particularly like the strip club stereotype, it doesn’t mean that we have to go to the other extreme, either.
I personally like to see a very nice balance between dancing and tricks; whether that dance style is more balletic like Fleur or completely erotic like… well, I don’t have an example but whatever – doesn’t make a difference about whether or not you’re truly "pole dancing" in my eyes. And when I say dancing, I mean true dancing – doing fancy handstands and elbow stands are tricks to me, even if they’re off the pole.
And unfortunately I see very few of the great dancers that really strike that dance/tricks balance very well, in my opinion. Felix is a great example. Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch Felix, but she’s almost always up on the pole. She does very little floorwork and really just strikes poses in between polework. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her do a spin. However, I will say that her transitions between the pole tricks are very dance-like compared to some other dancers, so that makes up for it a little.
Someone mentioned not liking choreography matching up with the beat of the music perfectly, and I think I know what you mean (maybe). I like dancing that goes with the music, but not so much that it’s a very stilted performance. I like big tricks to match up with the big moments in the music and movements to be somewhat timed with the music and overall tone of the song. I tend to dislike it if people are dancing as if there were absolutely no music at all, but that’s just me.
I have mixed feelings on pole becoming more regulated/going to the Olympics and such. While I’d love to see pole better recognized as more of a true art form and not necessarily exclusive to strip clubs, I do very much enjoy the freedom in doing whatever style we like. I think if anything, the pole dancing community should make their own standards of pole in regards to names and such (difficult, I know) but not in terms of expression. I like the no nudity rule that most organizations have, but I wouldn’t want to see every dancer covered head to toe in a jumpsuit, either. Having standard names would be nice. I like how the USPDF, etc. require more well-rounded skills such as floorwork, etc. It sucks that you have to do a split because I can’t do one, but that’s ok. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I think that pole fitness, pole gymnastics, and pole dance should be mutually respected. Just because one is the origin of the others doesn’t mean it’s better than them.
