    Pole-twista,

I found this today while shopping for the insanity work out. I saw your forum post and thought this might be what you’re looking for. The first link is for the video, and the second like is for the website you can buy it from. Good luck with your booty work outs! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

Yes, that’s what the studio is called. I found it by just doing a search on Yahoo for pole dance studios in Ocala. I would definitely do your research and ask tons of questions when you call. As GatorGirl mentioned, their poles are not purchased from a reputable company but rather made by a local welder (nothing wrong with that but be sure to ask about the material and be cautious) I do not know anything about this studio other than what I have read on the website and the info from GatorGirl. I don’t know how advanced the instructors are either. Here is the website to get you started. If you go there let me know how it goes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Also, you may want to check out Vixen Fitness in Orlando. GatorGirl is an instructor there. She can give you all of the info on that studio but here is the link for their studio as well. Good luck to you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Well, different side of town. I went to Ft. Clarke and Buchholz High Class of ’99, then I did dual enrollment at SFCC while still in high school and a few prerequisite classes after high school before moving to Colorado. I met my hubby at SFCC and his parents still live and work in G’ville. My Mom moved out to Williston/Morriston when I was a senior in high school. Such a small world, huh?! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Thank you for the information and heads up on the poles. I’m guessing you may be from Gainesville. I too went to middle school, high school, and some college in G’ville https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I will definitely check out your studio as well. Thanks again https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

If you like Pink Floyd, ‘Money’ has a hot beat and I think it would be a great pole song, even though it’s from the 70’s. You could time some really cool moves to all the ching-chang’s and jingles https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Good luck! You should post a clip of how it goes https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

I know a really cool trick to help you lace the quick lace boots fast. I wish I had some boots to make a video and show you. My Daddy taught me how to do this while lacing his work boots back when I was just a kiddo. Instead of crisscrossing the laces each time you lace one set of hooks (lace two hooks, toss laces to opposite sides of the boot thereby crisscrossing them and lace next set of hooks. rinse and repeat. This is taking for EVER! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif ) try this method.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Start at the bottom and put the lace into one hook. At this point, both laces should be on the same side of the boot. Grab both laces in one hand (I am right handed so I always start by lacing the first hook at the bottom, on the right side of the boot) and pull them tight. While keeping the laces separated slightly, lace the first and second hooks on the opposite side of the boot from which you started, simultaneously . Continue holding both laces in the same ‘one’ hand and alternate sides back and forth lacing two hooks each time until you reach the top of the boot and all hooks are laced. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif With time and practice, you can speed this process up thereby increasing your lacing speed and decreasing lost pole time due to boot malfunctions https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

I hope this was a clear enough explanation. If not, let me know and I will try to make it more clear. If I ever get boots like this, I will post a video and show you how to do this. Good luck with the boot lacing https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

To me, this seems to be a parody of an actual olympic commercial. I would think that if this commercial were "official" it would have updated pictures and video clips, and maybe even filmed in a studio with the ladies that will be competing and/or petitioning the Olympic committee. Visa is a huge company and this video just didn’t have that professional quality to it. I’m not trying to dis the creator of this commercial, I think it’s great! I hope the ladies will win the hearts of the committee to have pole dance be included in the 2016 Olympics as a full event. That would be fantastic. And to whom ever made this commercial, good work! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

I know that if you call Xpole, they should give you the exact name/type of screws you need. They did that for me anyway. And/or you can always take them with you to your local hardware store, like dustbunny said, and ask someone that works there to help you find ones that match.

I also wanted to share a bit about my new Xpert. My B Pole was bent and caused the pole to kind of wobble (I don’t know how exactly to explain it). However, I was so impressed with Xpole’s customer service. Heidi was so helpful and handled my problem very promptly. I live in Germany right now (Military) and I received a replacement B pole within a week. All I had to do was send them a picture of the bent pole where the light was coming through underneath it.

Angel, like Cinnamon said, it’s only a few out of thousands. I don’t think X-pole makes bad products it’s just that sometimes things are defective even when they are brand new. I would not hesitate to purchase another X-pert from them at all. And actually, I’ve been thinking of getting a TG X-pert because I get so sweaty and it’s hard for me to grip the Chrome sometimes.

Cinnamon, I hope your new joint gets to you in lightning speed https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif

I also found that the recipe for the ice cream cookie without the ice cream is pretty tasty. I think it is oatmeal and dark chocolate. I substituted oat flour for whatever type of flour it called for. They are pretty dangerous! Oh, the "yogurt cheese" (basically greek yogurt) and melted dark chocolate is heavenly, especially when spread on the above cookies!

Yummo, I’ll have to try all of the above! You’re making me hungry just thinking about it

No Chem, I haven’t tried the pizzas yet but I want to. They look mouth watering good. Maybe we can have family pizza night this weekend and make some home made pizzas! I am a total sweets person so it seems like I always try the desserts first https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I have had the Almond Chocolate chip cookies from Mar/Apr and I just made the Strawberry Rhubarb Crumbly from May/June today. I love both of them. They’re so decadent with just enough sweet to settle any craving.

I just thought it would be good in sauces/dressings since they are so bad for you. I can’t eat a dry salad =) Any little bit helps. Trying to implement healthy things everywhere i can =)

Just a little tip for you…In the March/April 2010 issue of Clean Eating Magazine on pg.46, there are 9 homemade salad dressings (along with a recipe for each) . The recipes are easy and have very few ingredients, most of which are pantry staples (so no weird/exotic ingredient you can only get once a year at a random farmers market 20 miles away). Also, they are made without the use of High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Preservatives, or any other ingredient you can’t pronounce or don’t know what it is. Therefore, much healthier and easier on your waste line https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Here is the list of dressings. Let me know which ones you want the recipes for, and I’ll post them for you.

    Creamy Fresh Herb
    Rice Vinegar & Wasabi
    Creamy Lemon
    Basil Walnut
    Honey & White Balsamic
    Orange Herb
    Tarragon Mustard
    Curry
Buttermilk Ranch (Yes, you can still have Ranch!)

Oh please has there ever been a Miss USA without some racy photos surfacing? she was not grinding and she had clothes on.

I agree. In this day and age, it’s hard to find someone who hasn’t done something "racy" according to our society. Seriously, a woman can just walk down the street in jeans and a t-shirt and be considered sexy. In fact, she had on a far less scandalous outfit in the Pole Dance Comp than she did in the Miss USA photo shoot put on by the Miss USA competition. There are so many crazy taboos and restrictions put on things in the USA that people automatically jump to the worst conclusions without doing any research. It seems that there will always be someone out there pointing a finger to blame and trying to take away another person’s success; and it’s usually due to jealousy or being afraid of something that is different or unconventional. As an America, this type of behavior makes me embarrassed. We are supposed to be the most tolerant nation in the world and yet we judge folks in a very harsh manner. If you want a Miss USA without any baggage that’s considered "too sexy" then the company needs to look for virgins that are fully covered.

On no, I missed April already?! Well, I couldn’t come up with a good song for April anyway. This one should be fun to do as I have been working on my spins. Now, just to find a good song…
