    haha- and I call that move the pocket knife. So many names!! When I get in that move I start like I were going into the gemini. When you flip upside down and hook the leg- that’s the hold I use for the pocket knife/star/whatever it’s called. I think it really is just about practice. Are you holding tight with your knee? It hurts in the beginning, but you gotta get that tight grip…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Hope you get it soon!
    And yes…the community really does rock.

    I don’t know anything about the Xpert, but I thought I’d tell you about my pole. I have the X pole…just a regular, simple, x pole, and I love it. I have had no problems with it. It isn’t scratched. It isn’t bent. I’ve had it about 2 years now. It is stuck together, but that’s because I neglected taking it apart and cleaning it in the beginning. I’m sure I can get it unstuck one day. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif This may be one of those "newer doesn’t mean better" things. But again, I have no idea. I don’t know anything about the xpert. But the x pole is wonderful and worth the money.

    Run!! You don’t need to ask us- you know this doesn’t sound good. Why are you considering putting yourself through this?? And with someone so disrespectful and demeaning!

    My pole instructor has done 2 fundraisers. They were pole shows! The dancers (students) all danced for free and people donated 5 or 10 bucks to get in. We raised a few thousand dollars.

    Pole dancing has always been a private thing for me and it isn’t sexy at all. When I was with my bf, he never saw it. Well, he saw me practice for shows, but it was never a dance for him. How dare him put that pressure on you! (hehe) I’d tell him there aren’t any worries on his opinion cuzz ur not gonna show him! haha. Take that. lol. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    It looks like your left hip isn;t touching the pole. I use that part of my body to help hold me on. Push your hip into the pole. The way I got it- I pulled that leg towards my face so the pole would be held in my thigh. That way you can let go with your hands, When your grip feels better, swing that leg around behind you- while pushing teh hip into the pole. I’ll try to post a video. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    StL Mo anyone? I am a bit of a loner, and while I do go to classes, I don’t "make friends" well. I’m actually thinking about dropping out of class for that simple reason, but if there were a few pple in the area, that would be really cool!!!

    Well, I don’t think you’re a whore because you have it, and I don’t know if your ex having it makes him a man whore. I guess you would know that better than we would. I’ve been there too. I was told that you can still have children. There is a way they kinda "sew" your cervix closed?? They sew something closed (not sew…but its held shut) during the pregnancy if your body can’t hold it on it’s own, and then when it;s time to give birth they can "pull a string" or something and you can deliver. HPV can go away. Stress makes it worse. When they told me to come in I told them no- and six months later I redid the papsmear. I ate healthy, wasn’t around cig smoke, and kept my stress down, and my next pap came back normal. It isn’t necessarily a life long thing. ::hugs:: Sorry you’re dealing with so much!!

    My pole has been stuck together since I got it- approximately a year ago. I don’t even try anymore. I just lug the entire thing into the other room when I move it- being careful not to swing it around and break things. You’re not the only one!!!

    January 25, 2010 at 1:27 am in reply to: Sexuality and Pole Dancing

    I’ve been thinking of replying to this for a while-so now I will. For some of us- sexuality and sexyness is a challenge for me. So is pole. I don’t need the pressure for both. For some people- pole isn’t necessarily about being sexy or sensual. It can be about being strong and challenging yourself. I don’t want to try to be sexy. Why do I have to be?? Why is it expected of me?? Just like I have the RIGHT to be sexual, I have the right to hang upside down on a pole for no reason other than because hanging upside down rocks!!!! So there’s my opinion- if it’s sensual dance for you— that’s great- but for some pple, it isn’t sexy at all. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    Try facing the pole- hold on- bend over- and shake your head around. I don’t know why–but it helps. lol. In that position your head should be upside down. It’s "Sexy" and helps!

    ::Horror Story::
    I don’t know a way to get over it- but maybe hearing my story will help you understand that life goes on.
    So I was in an actual performance. Like- 200+ people. And I landed wrong on my FIRST spin, and the entire choreography blanked. I forgot everything. Had no idea what was going on. What are ya gonna do?? I just started moving. I thought of any pole trick I had every learned and I did it. I went into an ankle hang- and had so much dry grip on I actually couldn’t slide down- was stuck upside down, and in the attempt to try to slide down- my shoe came off. Since gravity was in play here- that meant the shoe fell down- to my face. 200+ people. It was……great. (sarcasm) There were people I admired in the audience, professional dancers in the audience, friends and family….you get the picture. I took my other shoe off- finished the routine barefoot. When it was over I cried. I took a month off from pole class. A month and a half later- I spent a week in Jamaica poleing with some incredible dancers. I don’t know how to keep it from happening- but even when you are embarrassed in front of..you know..everyone- life goes on. People who love me still love me. lol. I am in complete denial and for the most part pretend I was never in the show. lol. But dancers know it happens, and people who don’t dance probably wont know you’re "stuck." (unless your shoe hit u in the face- people usually know that isn’t planned!!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Good luck.
