I’m not sure if this topic works for a rant but I’m curious to hear your thoughts on poling while pregnant? Is it possible, do people push themselves too hard to do it…I’ve seen some polers who are still flipping and flying through the air weeks into their pregnancies. Then others who can barely manage to move. I want to have kids someday but losing out on months of pole seems so disheartening, esp bc I don’t have a long history of movement pre-pole and don’t think I’d be that flying squirrel pregnant poler hahaha. Another rant idea = should pole be in the Olympics (and that whole debate).

    Episode 9 is up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-smIQYXvW-E

Oh boy, this video is a long one, as I cover pregnancy, postpartum and parenthood as a pole dancer.

This is not medical advice. Always speak to your health care professional about your pole dance training.

Learn more about how I approached pole dancing while pregnant: https://www.studioveena.com/tutorial/… This video is from my teacher training course, which is FREE!

Here are a few example of how to have fun with your kids as a pole dancer! This link https://www.studioveena.com/members/v… will take you to a few video of my boys when they were very little. We would have Pole Jams and just get silly taking turns on the pole. We even used the pole to workout as a family. And you’ll find a few video of my boys playing instructor for both hula hooping and pole.

This link is one of my favorite memories with all four boys and myself dancing to Rock Lobster https://fb.watch/y0hu4xcCmx/

No pole program: https://www.studioveena.com/categorie… This 30 day program is great for those who just started pole dancing, only to find out that you’re expecting. It’s also a great option if you have been cleared for exercise after baby. I also have wonderful strength exercises and routines you can use to help you maintain your strength while pregnant. Most do not require a pole! If you need help finding anything feel free to reach out and I’d be happy to help you.

Last I’m also including a 15 minute video compilation of my personal journey from pregnancy to postpartum. https://www.studioveena.com/tutorial/veenas-pregnancy-and-postpartum-journey/?current-category=72

Thank you for this deep dive, this was awesome! Love your approach to tackling these topics with your kids. It’s not weird unless you make it weird. I bet they loved seeing you do cool tricks growing up!

It really is what you make of it around them.

Funny story, two nights ago my 3rd oldest asked if he and a few friends could use our yard (he has his own apt) to have a bonfire and hangout. We said of course. Well they didn’t come over until late and my husband and I were asleep we stayed asleep throughout the bonfire. At about 2 am I heard a weird noise coming from below our home (where my studio is). It took a minute, but I soon realized they were playing around on my pole hahah.

    Episode 10 is up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_RHQholLn8

Here’s the link for my 30 minute hips and pelvis routine https://www.studioveena.com/tutorial/hips-and-pelvis-routine-live-lesson-1810/?current-category=49

Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve found has help me:

    1. Spending time in the sun and nature.

    2. Avoid prepackaged foods, if I do eat them, I check the ingredients and always choose whole grains.

    3. Eat very little sugar.

    4. I eat more protein than before, including tofu and non dairy yogurt for gut health.

    5. Eat to prevent inflammation, I love real ginger tea and sauerkraut.

    6. I use cannabis in the evening for sleep, inflammation and muscle recovery.

    7. Journal to find patterns in my cycle and life.

    8. I find ways to regulate my nervous system. Mediation, music, playing guitar, hugging my dog etc.

    9. I no longer “identify” as a woman in perimenopause, but I still honor my bodies changing needs.

    10. TARGET TRAINING MY JOINTS! Before this I was having a hard time sleeping because my joints would feel like they’re about to fall off my bones! It was so uncomfortable.

I’m fully aware that I’m just beginning the process of moving into my next phase of life so by no means I’m I stating to be an expert. This is not medical advice. I’m also not trying to downplay anyones struggles or experience with perimenopause and menopause. I know when hormones are not balanced they do very crazy things as I experienced this with my birth control struggles, you feel totally out of control. I did feel like I was living in a different body until more recently when I changed my diet and perspective.

There isn’t much about post menopause other than the same advice about diet and knowing yourself applies. It’s an ok RANT IMO.

<div>I hope you don’t mind me sharing this with you. This education on menopause saved my life when I became post menopausal and was unaware of what was going on with my body. I’ve been post menopausal for 4 years. I wish I had known what I learned from Dr Barbie Taylor when I was perimenopausal, it would have saved me from getting osteopenia, as well as all the needless suffering endured with the menopausal symptoms.</div>

Dr Barbie Taylor has a website and YouTube channel that is like a school classroom( see link below) where she teaches you how to manage your menopause your way. She delivers the education in a fun way and uses lots of homemade props. The only rule is to watch the videos in order; she makes that easy too!

I hope you watch her videos. I wish you all the very best.

Thank you so much for these! 🙂 really likes them! So much valuable info here, wow! Have only listend to the last two ones, and will listen to the other ones soon.

Did not know there are such a thing as joint strength. Whats the difference from muscle strength? Have had some issues with knees since being pregnant, so would absolutely be interested in a joint strength routine. If you think something like that would work? Curious anyways.

    Thank you!

🙂 Menopause is one of the most neglected topics in the universe; it’s a terrible shame. I was glad to see your post on the subject. This resource is the only unbiased education on menopause that I’ve come across. It was amazing to learn all the things I didn’t know. 💙

You’re right that nobody talks about it, and it’s a shame seeing how it affects half the population. Dr Barbie Taylor is the only person I’ve come across who provides a comprehensive, unbiased education on the subject, and it’s absolutely free on YouTube. It surprised me to learn what I didn’t know. Now, I share the information with all the women in my life who I care about.

All the best wishes for you. 💜

Hahaha! You have definitely got to be the coolest mom they know!

[edit] thought this would show up as a reply to your comment about them playing with the pole at 2am – just for added context!

And I would also to love to know more about the joint health routine!

Yeah, @Prilladonna everyone usually only thinks about muscles getting stronger or bigger. However, we can also improve the strength of our tendons which connect our muscles to the bones and ligaments which provide stability! This does happen when we do exercises to strength the muscle, but you can also target the joints more through specific movement patterns.

This has made such a huge difference for me!

Right now I’m pretty sure I’ll film a routine for everyone, but I’m not sure if I should do one longer one or a few shorter. I’m open to suggestions.

I’ve been watching some of Menopause Barbies videos and I love her. I thought I’d share this video as it goes well with mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ-OaC0KTZE&list=PLOUBdLFwUtyYimWltwfsEQneVYjIaMQH-&index=10

Lol 😀 you are one of the cool mums for sure 😀

Maby a few shorter ones, for example one for hips, one for lower body, one for upper body. Depends on how long the whole routine takes as time is an issue and easier to fit in a smaller routine into existing routines.

However I will try whatever comes up 🙂
