30 Day Ayesha: Day 25
Duration: 00:47:09
Today if you haven’t already, it’s time to try and take one leg off the pole and it doesn’t matter which leg you choose.
Pro tip: Did you know “losing” or being unable to do a trick the next time you try is part of the learning process, via neuroplasticity? This is due to you developing new neural pathways, but you’re in the cognitive stage [just learning] and haven’t yet reached the autonomous [automatic] stage through repetition. So at first you might have initial success then temporarily forget until practice solidified as motor memory. It’s normal for skills to feel inconsistent as your brain builds and refines neural connections here’s a brief look at the stages:
- Cognitive stage: You’re actively thinking through every step and your brain forms new, but weak connections
- Trial and error: The first success is often a lucky combination of these new, fragile pathways
- Forgetting: Without immediate reinforcement (repetition), those new connections weaken, making it hard to replicate the move next time.
- Associative stage: With consistent practice, your brain strengthens these pathways, making movements smoother and more automatic
You’re not failing or doing anything wrong, you’re simply in the learning process!
