30 Day Caterpillar: Getting Started
Welcome to the 30-day Caterpillar program which includes static and spinning pole versions! This program was designed to help you build the confidence, strength and skills needed for a safe and successful Caterpillar. The Caterpillar is a fundamental trick that unlocks higher level skills like, Butterfly and Extended butterfly, Straight edge, Ayesha and more!
Here’s a list of the equipment you will need for this program:
- A pole
- A selection of resistance bands. Click here to purchase or browse similar items. The bands I selected come with a massage ball!
- A tennis ball, massage ball or peanut. Click here to purchase or browse.
- Foam roller. Click here to purchase or browse. I recommend High Density and 18 inches long.
- Don’t forget to use a crash mat. Couch cushions work great for this if you don’t have a mat!
Pro tip: The descriptions are where you’ll find all kinds of helpful tips, motivation, further explanation, photos and links. Descriptions also provide a list of direct links to each tutorial we worked with that day. By following these direct links you’ll have access to information such as descriptions for each video, related tutorials, muscle groups used, and more. You only need to click on these pink, direct links if you’d like more info.
Use the toggle above the video player to switch from static to spinning versions of this program. The spinning pole version is a higher level meaning you must be fully confident with the listed tricks on static pole before working on spinning pole. You will also need to be able to Invert on spinning pole forwards and backwards.
When following a program allow the videos to play in order and follow along. Feel free to pause anytime you need to.

I’m so excited to start this!!!!
How did I not see this program 7/8 days ago?! I could really use this.
Loving this new type of tutorials Veena!!
I started this program and realized that I have everything pretty down pat except for the inverted thigh hold. I managed to do two on each side but realized they were not as smooth as I would like them. my question is should I wait and continue practicing the inverted thigh hold or should I continue on to day two? I am so excited to move ahead but I don’t want to hurt myself. thanks for any advice that Veena or any one can give
You can move on! We will keep working on them 😊
Veena, should I be doing conditioning exercises on the active rest days, I’m only on my 6th day of the program? (which is awesome thankyou for posting it) I want to make sure I am doing everything so that I will progress. I’ve already seen a huge difference in my basic invert after watching your tips on inverts lesson. and I was able to do the thigh holds much better this time though I still only managed to do 4 total.
No, you don’t have to condition on active rest days. If I want you to anything specific I put it in the program. I’m happy to hear about your progress so far😊😊
Next one to do on the list! I’m half way through the invert program 💪ðŸ»
okay, here it comes day1! …. Veena, i feel like there isn’t enough cardio exercise in your 30 days program. can i add two seasons of HIT cardio on my rest days? Thank you xx
That’s up to you. The goal of the programs aren’t to improve cardiovascular capacity but rather prepare anyone regardless of fitness background for the demands of pole or fundamentaless pole work.
Thank you Veena. My gole is to improve my strength as well as to get lean. I will stick to the program and will add 1 or 2 season of cardio. Thank you for your replay xx
I’m starting tomorrow! Even though I can caterpillar now, I still struggle with “vertical upside down” positions. Per Veena’s suggestions in the forum, will try this program. My plans are to add it to my current pole routine, but I will try to focus on flow for the next 30 days, nothing too challenging from the tricks standpoint. I may need to adjust a few things around because I have some travel in my calendar. So excited!
I hope you’ll find it helpful! 💜
I’m finishing the 30 day invert program soon. My invert still isn’t strong but I can invert. Do you think its ok to move on to this program or should I redo the invert program and wait until my invert is stronger?
What program or thing would you like to focus on after this?
The caterpillar program 🙂
Go for it, if you find that it’s too much you can come back to this or work on some of the VIP plans too
