30 Day Flow: Day 29
Duration: 00:17:31
Today is an active rest day where you’ll revisit how to point your foot and then it’s time to practice all four of the flow drills. I’ve not included REPS as you’re only to follow along and practice each drill once. If you’re not wearing heels, be sure to dance on the balls of the feet.
Pro tip: Have you ever wondered why many styles of dance teach you to dance on the ball of the foot?
Below I’ve listed some benefits of dancing on the balls of your feet:
- Balance and stability: Standing on the balls of the feet allows dancers to maintain a stable center of balance, which is crucial for performing turns and quick footwork.
- Control and power: This position helps dancers maintain a constant connection to the floor, giving them more control and allowing them to generate power for jumps and steps.
- Lighter movement: Dancers can use the ball of the foot to feel lighter and more agile. It is often used in contemporary and abstract dance to create a sense of being lighter, more dynamic, and more expressive.
- Improved performance: By shifting weight to the balls of the feet, dancers can achieve a more polished and professional look, with a more elongated and graceful line.
Allow the videos to play in order and follow along. Feel free to pause anytime you need to.
Below is a list of direct links to each full length tutorial you worked on in today’s session. Remember you only need to click on these if you’d like more help or information.
It was fun putting all these together! I just put a mirror in my pole room and that made it easier to understand what I actually look like; which was surprisingly, not silly.
Yay! I’m glad you were pleasantly surprised by yourself 🙂
