Also work on a slow reverse SM. Very slow and controlled. Try holding the SM split as long as you can – this will also build those abs. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif that’s how I eventually got the SM by working my abs with the Reverse SM…I would do the reverse out of the caterpillar and do it lower to the ground with a pole mat…it felt safer to me – like I wouldn’t drop on my head lol and got me used to that muscle movement/contraction with less kick.
Still can’t do the aerial yet poo https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif

MemberNovember 17, 2009 at 12:23 am in reply to: You shouldn’t go to strip clubs and heckle the strippersYup…Charlie you hit it on the head…it’s a strip club geared towards making money – but I for one love checking out the floor work – and you are sooo right about the eye contact.
I think there is nothing wrong with them gearing the dances towards their audience – we have to remember while pole may be our passion the club is their job and they are trying to make as much money at it as they can – you have to give the audience what they want https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
That being said I have found that a lot of the dancers are more than happy to do some extra pole stuff if you talk to them about it…most of the girls I have met at the clubs that can do pole – like to show it off if there is actually an audience for it. Cheetahs in LA is super fun. We have had better luck going in the afternoon when the clubs are slower and with a bunch of women – and tipping well …than when it’s night or the weekend and the house is predominately guys because they are gonna cater towards them.
I get it – it is hard work – I am winded after 1 or 2 dances with real pole work and they are doing a bunch of sets a night…It’s like…I can show my hubby a shoulder mount in my yoga gear and he is impressed – however if I am wearing some 6 inch Pleasers and I bend over to say…pick up the tv remote…well that’s REALLY impressive – BOO – guys – they are so easy – gotta love it LOL

MemberNovember 16, 2009 at 8:34 pm in reply to: You shouldn’t go to strip clubs and heckle the strippersHey Sissy I have found the only time I have seen the dancers at the strip clubs go all out on the pole is when a bunch of women are there in a group specifically to view pole and really cheering that on. The times I go and it’s just one or two of us they are much more all about the T&A – cause really that’s what the guys want to see…and they are going to make their money off of them or get them interested in lap dances – which is really where they make their money. But if it’s a gaggle of girls tipping well over cool pole tricks then they rock it out.
I get it – it makes sense but it’s kinda sucky…Come visit LA there are a few clubs where the girls seem to love the pole and do a lot of tricks.

Ahhh yes…I know the bum slide then https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif …and ugg I do that centered too…I must just have a crotch of steel LOL although I do curl my pelvis under quickly to avoid any burn and I usually do it with ruffled panties – they slide better lol…dang I must rethink the whole off center thingy might be an easier/safer choice.
-
bum slide…what is a bum slide??? How did I miss a bum slide??? I have a lot of bum so I feel like I should know this https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I have only been able to do it once but it involved really making sure my tail bone was curled in…I think it’s kinda like your tail bone needs to be against the pole vs your thighs/wrist/lady bits in the wrist sit. Plus the sit is centered vs the wrist sit where many people do it slightly off center. I also find it seems (at least I think) easier for people with strong slpits or over splits…and THAT is something I most definitely don’t have LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Women don’t easily get bulky. Hell. Men don’t easily get bulky. You have to work hard to get significant muscle gains.
….
I have to disagree. I have always bulked up quickly – ever since I was young and did gymnastics – it think a lot of it really depends on the body type and your musculature structure to begin with. Which isn’t to say that you don’t have to work hard but some people are just much more prone to bulking up than others.

I kept thinking I was going to thow up while doing a layout – I’m sure I turned green. I kept thinking about that scene in the Exocist… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_l.gif
My teacher said to switch up the directions of the spins and that would help.
Um yeah – but NO…didn’t work for me LOL but maybe it might help you – who knows. My friend also swears by sucking on little ginger candies…

ugg that sucks so sorry about your pain…hopefully you will have more answers soon…also maybe you could find somewhere to swim – so you can still work out but off your feet?
-
CONGRATS it is hard but once you do it I know you will be happier…I have been trying to quit for a really long time…but I have been pretty lame about it – I need to actually commit to it for real. We are worth it and better than the cigs – remind your self that each day https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

While it could be a calcium/potassium/magnesium deficiency most likely it is an over point of your toes causing muscle fatigue…lots of people actually cramp up when doing this because of the tendency to curl the toes down hard when pointing – try pointing more with the bend in your ankle and a straight line with your toes…does that make sense lol…less curling the toes down which isn’t necessary to get a pretty straight line.To stop the cramp, flex your foot by pointing your toes upward. Hope that helps somewhat. Also spinach, milk and bananas never hurt https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

MemberOctober 28, 2009 at 7:48 am in reply to: Nutrition For Strong Muscles and Tendons???Many people now a days do not get enough magnesium in their diet. Mag deficiency is pretty common – you might want to look into adding more foods that are high in it. When I was a gymnast we took magnesium to help with tendinitis and bursitis that would occur as well as practicing self myofascial release. If you don’t already know about it…but you probably do since you train https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif but if not google it – rolling around on that silly foam roll is painful but boy does it really help https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

When I go from spinny to static I always have to remind myself – when in spin mode if you are doing something and you want to slow it down you lean away from the pole more…when you are closer or pull into the pole it speeds it up. If you are doing the same thing in static it may be slowing you down a bit. It’s good to practice both…I think it’s just a matter of getting used to it. I still get nauseous in spin mode though lol!

Wow…that’s so awesome CONGRATS!!!!!
