You can target any area for strengthening or flexibility but you cannot targe a specific area for weight loss. 😊
-
Runmist is correct, you can’t spot reduce body fat. Everyone’s bodies loose fat differently and for some that means hips last, others belly last and so on.
If you want to strengthen the hips you’ll find options in the lessons for that. Read descriptions to see what muscles are strengthened. Booty lift, booty squeeze and hip flexor lift are all good for strength and stability. The best way to reduce body fat is diet and exercise that raises the heart rate. The routines here that are not flexibility based would be great cardio. 💜

Too sensitive nah, we NEED people who are sensitive, it just sucks to be one of them at times!!! 💜💜💜
-
I read through this and see people who are concerned for you and want to see you well. In my time on SV I’ve seen my share of members who are trying to post just to upset someone and I don’t feel Poleisnewtome was trying to upset you.
I’ve also been on the end of a conversation/post where I felt I had been misunderstood and felt others were saying things that were hurtful intentionally. Sometimes they really were, and other times I was too sensitive. My dad use to tell us girls “don’t be so sensitive” lol in the most loving way of course! I started my pole journey as someone who was very sensitive to myself and others, so I totally get that for sure!!!! WE CARE ABOUT YOU!

Thank you for updating us, I was wondering how everything was going 💜
I agree with the comments above and I also see your goal and point of trying to honor your body through natural methods. I’m always looking for the least invasive and at times non medical way of dealing with pain or sickness. However, there is a time to find healing in medicine so never feel bad for taking s path of traditional medicine as well. 💊

I don’t know of any, hopefully someone does, but this video has some suggestions for creating a routine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhW5OcZoMRM

Studioveena was created differently than other tutorial sites or pole related websites out there, we were the first to offer more than a forum. We wanted a community and studio, it’s a custom site and it’s truly like no other! My goal was to be a virtual studio. 💻📱With all of my lessons placed in a progressive order, offering 30 day programs and related lessons to help you understand what is needed to work up to a particular move, it makes learning online very user friendly. I’m also very available to answer question posted to lessons.
So my reply is yes, you CAN and many HAVE learned only from the lessons here. Some have even gone on to open studios or have started to post their own tutorials after learning here. I’d say over the years it’s become a great resource for teachers and students looking to remember what they’ve learned in a phyical class and a great place to learn different methods from what may be taught in class. Class students will be able to progress faster as well because they can practice more than once a week!
Spotters are an important part of progressing past certain levels, they’re also great from a mental aspect as Poleisnewtome mentioned to help you feel secure….spotters should not be used to push or move someone up onto the pole, if the student cannot get into the position themselves, they’re not yet ready for that move. I talk more about the spotter in the Veena Method training course. https://www.studioveena.com/methods/letter

AdministratorSeptember 22, 2015 at 3:54 pm in reply to: Flexibility training before pole class?Yes, I also explain that you should not do any heavy flexibility training before pole work in my teacher training course https://www.studioveena.com/methods/letter I believe it’s on page 8 and more about this later on in the course.
Light stretching as you’re warming is fine and when done through rhythmic movements it’s a great way to prepare for pole. The issue with deep flexibility training before a pole session is that it can increase the risk of injury do to fatigue and relaxed ligaments or tendons. Those most at risk would be anyone with hyper mobile joints, but everyone should be aware.
So in short, if you do strength based pole work after stretching be cautious and mindful of fatigue and body placement before committing to a move.

LOL, it’s totally normal, and if you look back at old videos of mine, you’ll see I dance very inwardly. I feel the dance and music but it doesn’t show in my face!
Record yourself (this helps so much) and watch how you move in the mirror. Practice looking up not down at the floor when you move. We’re actors and actresses too so facial expression are important. Don’t forget to post your first attempt videos because they give you something to look back on and see progress!

They all have great advice, best to listen to your body! I might add that if you have slanted ceilings you can put a pole up! Both x-pole and lil mynx have vaulted ceiling adaptors for the pole!
-
Have you worked it out yet? I’m just reading this now….are you possibly sliding down before you fully grip the pole with the legs. As in are you making sure to stay in that C shape until the legs have fully gripped? In the clip it almost looked like you slide then grip with the legs, but it might just be the angle.

Oh and 6 weeks to invert is never a reasonable goal for EVERYONE. Yes, some will be able, but many students my never invert and that’s OK!!
-
I’m sorry to hear that Mighty! As instructors it’s our job to make students feel they are in good hands, and that will have their best interest in mind. I hear of far to many story’s of instructors saying “just do it” or “it’s easy” and this can really turn someone off to their teaching or even hurt them! I do feel it’s important to be able to read students and push those who need it, but only when it’s appropriate. Any type of inversion the first day is not appropriate.

I had one friend on FB that I thought didn’t pole anymore, only to recently see she was competing! I don’t know how FB decided on what you see, but I miss so much. 🙁
We have such lovely members and I enjoy popping on to see everyone here!

While it is listed as beginner in my lesson line up here, the reality is this is by no means a great move for a first class! The lessons here are placed in ORDER in which to learn and if you go look, you’ll see the elbow stand is WAY down near the bottom. I have you working on other things to help you move up to that point! You need to have a few week of strength and conditioning along with just learning more about how your body and pole work together.
If you are working on elbow stand properly, regardless of your level, there should not be any injury! Because when taught with care these can be work on in steps only moving on to more advanced options as you grow stronger and develop the necessary technique. 🙂
You’ll find several lessons here that cover elbow stands, even a full length routine to help you build the strength for them!

Elbow stand routine https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/557fb444-6e60-4c80-ab79-67ca0a9aa0eb This routine is a great one for beginners to watch, even if you’re not yet ready to physically try it.
