Dustbunny. That sounds fun! I can’t help you with ideas tho πŸ™‚

Krugerleo. You’ll find all kinds of help in the lessons here for new dancers. All lessons (in every section) are place in progressive order so you don’t need to worry about what to do first! You can also choose from the 30 day take off program for beginners or use one of the other programs I have. You’ll find routines and tons of things that do not need a pole but will help you with your pole journey!

The easiest way to begin any inverted pose is either holding in a tuck or with legs split (one reaching behind the other in front) helpful. A straddle is good too but if you don’t have the flexibility this wont be super helpful. The most difficult for most people to balance in is straight!

As for on the pole, the same things apply. Both of the elbow and forearm Ayesha lessons will help, also the Straight edge lesson and the more advanced Ayesha (split grip) lesson. Also the stands routine will help with all inverted balance holds. How are you getting into the pose above??

The biggest thing with balance is PRACTICE. I worked for over 2 years to be able to hold an off the pole handstand with straight legs! I still practice handstand every week or I loose them.

  • You cap off the wires and they make covers that you put over the electrical hole. I’ve had to do this in almost every space I’ve had lol

Rachel I’ve heard of that! So I guess even using royalty free doesn’t mean you can’t trouble πŸ™

Neesy, I can understand how sad it would be. You put time into an account, make friends and can look back at progress. I’d be sad too!

Latin, I think YT is more like TV too, my kids all use it like TV. I think we have the best of both worlds here on SV. Easy community and video upload ability!

Side note about IG. I just realized that I may have been screwing myself on my studioveena IG account!!! I had switched it to a business account over a year ago and my interactions and follows really slowed, I didn’t know what I had done to become so irrelevant. lol It wasn’t until yesterday Webby and I realized that it was probably changing from personal to business. When you are a business account IG and FB want you to PAY to be seen. On FB if you don’t pay, your followers will not see, our assumption is IG is the same ……I was just gutted. I felt like I had missed out on reaching so many people just because I said I was a business. I changed it back yesterday to personal, but I don’t know if it will help me reach my followers or new people at this point. I’m guessing I may be slotted as a business in their algorithm. IG was a big way for me to reach new members!

  • I’ve just taken down the fixture and put the pole where I want. Pole trumps light LOL. You can just use a floor lamp if you need lighting.

Youtube doesn’t remove (anymore) is was bad and that’s why I stopped posting there and only posted my dances here. Now they can block videos in some countries if you use certain copyright music but yeah, they just put an ad on it now. I stopped posting dance videos there because even though YT doesn’t remove vids anymore, no one seems to watch them. At least that’s what my views and comments indicate. This generation of pole dancers all use IG and want to see clips of tricks, not full expressive dances so I change with the times and only post free advice and tips on my studioveena YT, but no more dances.

Hmmm, I suppose it depends on where you have it placed. Things like shoulder rolls could be an issue I would guess.

I should clarify, these are good songs but not ones anyone would recognize! I’ve heard a few of the pieces I’ve used on TV commercials and food network shows!! lol

Allyson, any music you hear on the site or on my social media I’ve purchased. It’s high quality royalty free music you can purchase for business or personal use. Most songs are about 50-60 dollars per song!!! Another site I use charges something like 150 – 200 for a year of access to all of the music on the site, however you need to click a button every time you use a song so they can give credit to the artist.

I never post with music to IG or FB….it makes me sad, like depressed sad, I miss the old days of creating pole videos for fun. I’ve stopped sharing my videos altogether because social media doesn’t allow music (unless I’ve payed for it) and I like to dance to whatever comes on my google play list. Polers only want to interact on FB and IG so I gave up, I still record but all videos just sit on my go pro or I watch them back and delete them.

Feel free to use what’s here in the lessons too. The flowmotion lessons and routine are great for body awareness. The flow program would be helpful as well.

He’s an interesting fella! It seems that the concept in the video shared is the same as my method shown in the individual lessons and stretching routines. Contract and release..don’t forget to breathe. Also make sure you go though all of the individual back stretches because that’s where I really break things down….then you can move on to the back mobility routine. πŸ™‚ Oh and adding in some flowmotion here and there is a nice change from the contract and release method.
