Welcome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif sound like you might be thinking about a new pole. I really love the X pole, and as far as the lessons go, they are placed in order please be sure to do the strength training section, this is very important because it prepares your body for the demands of pole dance. Have fun!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Welcome, thats great you had a fun first lesson. Newbies tend to really have a death grip on the pole, it gets better with time. If you find that you get pole burn on your wrist, you can wear wrist cuffs and that will stop it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hello and welcome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif I do in fact have the pull ups exercise but they are in my online lessons. Enjoy your pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

You have to put the pole up across 2 joist if your in the UK but in the US our joist are farther apart so its better to put it centered on 1. The x pole can’t be used on a false or suspended ceiling and must be placed on a joist. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Thats great your enjoying your lessons https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Remember that for new pole dancers, even more so for those who new to exercise, you want a day of rest in between your work outs. You muscles need to repair themselves. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

Yeah, most places are only concerned with making money and they really don’t care about the quality of the pole. They see that pee a POO is well advertised so they want to sell it. booooo https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

I’m not the tech person, but yes there is a reason for it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Not allowing user name changes is not, an usual practice, most sites wont allow user name changes. Go try changing it on Youtube. On MOST sites, you are usually required to make a new account if you want to change your user name. If a site were to allows the users to change names, then everything gets all messed up! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking.gif Websites are very complex and information like user names need to remain the same or people wont get emails and updates, too many things go all screwy, and the site can’t keep track of everything like it needs to. I’m sooooo not the tech person but this is the basic idea. Right webmaster?? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_ugeek.gif

Ok I thought I should give you all an update on the arm problem.
I was FINALLY able to meet with a physical therapist yesterday. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif 9 frickin weeks after the pain started…After going through some exercises and finally having someone listen to me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif we were able to figure out the problem (hopefully). His conclusion,… it is not a tear or tendinitis of some sort but a tracking issue with my elbow!! I have the ability to hipper extend my elbows… more so on the left, which is the arm that hurts. This ability can cause problems and I’m pretty sure it was the TWISTED GRIP HANDSPRING that brought on my problem. After going through some exercises and finally having someone listen to me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif we were able to hopefully figure out the problem. This all seems to make more sense than the epicondylitis (tennis or golfers elbow) theory. I had done waaaaayyyy more pole dancing when I first started learning to pole, than what I have done after Henry. So my only thought on that was over use from holding him and poling. I’m glad thats not the problem. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
He was pretty annoyed that it took this long for me to get into PT, he said I should have been doing exercise weeks ago!@! So…..I have some exercises to work on and some ummm… I guess you could call it manipulation, I need to do with my elbow, before I lift weights or pole dance. Now that I know (I hope) what the problem is I have my brain going and have some thought on how I can fix this problem. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif The poor tracking also seemed to be irritating my already damaged unlar nerve (not pole related). Which is why I had more tinging after dancing or triceps training. He didn’t really say that the tracking problem could be fixed, but I am determined to find a way to fix it!! IF anyone has info on this for me I would love to hear it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

We have thought about making the lessons viewable on the iphone, it takes some work, but it can definitely be done. We just don’t know if its worth while right now. I see 2 of you might be interested but….is it something others would really love? Jamilla has the only dvd set I would recommend, if your looking to spend as little as possible just get her beginner dvd. Be careful and have fun. I would suggest reading through the forums if you don’t have a way of taking lessons. There is a really go one called..Am I ready for an inversion. under pole moves. I would check that one out for sure. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
