Maybe you could ask a neighbor if they know what the ceilings are made out of, or which way the studs run. You could try calling the condos office too, if there is one. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Sounds like maybe you have plaster ceilings. A stud finder wont work well on plaster, you’ll get all kinds of readings. Unless you know your ceiling is cement, you HAVE to find the stud/joist!! You will damage your ceiling if you just randomly place it anywhere. Are you in the US? Do you rent or own your home?

That’s fantastic that you love pole so much!! But Oh my…no bruising on your side isn’t something you should experience if your inverting properly. Never kick hard or jump into an invert, this can cause injury to your shoulders and back. If pole is a new form, or only form, of exercise than, its totally normal for it to take a few months to be strong enough to invert safely. Work on strength moves with the pole….I have a bunch in my lessons if your taking them, and don’t rush. Inverting is fun but dealing with injuries that keep you off your pole are not. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif Oh one last thing yeah, your skin should stick to the pole, thats good! but yes its normal to feel pain on your skin, when your trying new moves…..it will get better. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I bought a pole from pole aerobics…is this a decent pole?
From what I have seen of it…the quality is that of an electra, peek a boo and my little sexy poles. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif So be careful while using it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_colors.gif -

Oh my, if its pain, and it sounds like it is, I would really work on strengthening the hand, wrist and forearms. If the Strength training hurts (like you have the same pain) go to the DR right away!! Do not work on spins right now or pulling you body weight with them. Work on strengthening them first, and you can do some transitions and floor work for now. One last thing, have you tried wrapping your wrists when you pole? I had to do that for a bit after I had my baby, because my wrist were weak. I do have this wrist forearm exercise https://www.studioveena.com/video/gallery/Wrist-exercises I have some more I can show you if you would like. We could set up a time and meet in the chat room so I could show them too you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
