Well thats good the flirty girl didn’t work out because that pole is CRAP! You are way better off waiting and buying an X pole. Its waaaay better quality so it will last and you can adjust the height and move it from room to room.

I don’t know how much help I’ll be but… I wanna start off by saying, that anyone who expects a new dancers (even one that can do advanced moves) to show emotion on their face through a whole dance is silly. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif Unless you have be trained in other forms of dance or acting, emotion while poling wont be natural for a while. Once you become comfortable with your moves and can relax then it becomes a lot easier!! Here are my tips for deciding on how expressive to be. I haven’t had "formal" training on this matter, but I have learn by watching others and old videos of mine….to learn what NOT to do. I do have a bad habit….I sign while I dance and you can always see it in a lot of my videos. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I always listen to my music… If its sad, I don’t wanna be smiling or acting sexy. LOL For a sad song I wouldn’t look straight at the audience or video cam….I think, keeping it feeling like, its only you in the room, looks better than pretending to feel sad. I Do more hiding of my face or showing frustration for a sad song. I like to know my lyrics for the song, this can help a lot. Its really about honestly feeling the song your dancing too. For me I HAVE to like the song I’m dancing to or the dances wont turn out well. Even a simple raise of an eyebrow or smirk, can engage your audience. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I recently did a video to the song Smile…and I think it turned out well because I didn’t plaster the SAME smile on my face for the whole song….I let my true emotion come out while I danced. I did sing to it though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif If I’m not really feeling the song then it never looks genuine. Just keep it real, unless your on Broadway, then its all about over acting https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
Just like anything else though, I think that practice makes perfect https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I am soooo totally in love with pole dance because, I have finally found the perfect outlet for me to express my feeling for the music that moves me!! This is one of my favorite dances I have done, it was a spur of the moment dance and I just had fun with it.

The first one disappeared because it failed during processing…. however…..We don’t allow members to upload tutorials on the site…you may post this to youtube or some other place and link it into the forum if you would like. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif OK, my video just disappeared https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I have an excellent strength lesson on the way, (hopefully up sometime this week) that will help dancers learn how to properly engage their upper back for climbs, hold and inverts. Its good that you are aware that it could be a problem for you. Going into inverts, climbs and hold with a rounded upper back is never a good thing. A video would be nice so we can see what is going on. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

The suggesting for the hand and elbow stands are to get your body use to the feeling of going upside down, a cartwheel is nothing like a handstand really. Just so your not confused about why I would suggest that. People who have never done much inverted/upside down as a kid, have a scary time with things of that nature, when they are older. I still say find a more understanding instructor. lol

You most certainly should be proud!! You had me worried there when you said if you cut back you would starve. LOL

Thanks everyone, yeh I think my bodytype is close to a mesomorph. I’m tall and hourglass shaped but I can gain fat easy. I’m almost always on perminant diet so I don’t think I could cut back any more than I already do,unless I stopped eating all together! Yeh I prob need 2 do more cardio but most of my spare time is taken up with the pole just now. I take it things like going on the treadmill might help??? I haven’t a clue about cardio to be honest lol. Just hope I don’t get any more muscular in the arms! Or ill end up looking like a man!
Ok wait, I never said to cut back on food or go on a diet……I said to eat a well BALANCED diet. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif Out bodies need food. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif If you eating as little as you say you are that can be a problem too. If you starve your body it will hold on to any fat you give it, (to put it simply) not eating enough can play a big part in weight gain too or not loosing weight. I just wanna make sure you don’t go starving yourself…..well balanced meals, 3 times a day, with 2 small healthy snacks. Cardio is anything that raises your heart rate for a significant period of time. Swim, walk, DANCE, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif those are all great for cardio. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif -
