I’m with veruca, what’s a bumslide? LOL
Bum slide is when your in a reverse handstand..so your facing the pole and you keep your legs in a V and slide your bum down the pole, lowering your feet on the ground. Both of these moves are on my list for the new lesson moves. -

Well thats good the flirty girl didn’t work out because that pole is CRAP! You are way better off waiting and buying an X pole. Its waaaay better quality so it will last and you can adjust the height and move it from room to room.

I don’t know how much help I’ll be but… I wanna start off by saying, that anyone who expects a new dancers (even one that can do advanced moves) to show emotion on their face through a whole dance is silly. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif Unless you have be trained in other forms of dance or acting, emotion while poling wont be natural for a while. Once you become comfortable with your moves and can relax then it becomes a lot easier!! Here are my tips for deciding on how expressive to be. I haven’t had "formal" training on this matter, but I have learn by watching others and old videos of mine….to learn what NOT to do. I do have a bad habit….I sign while I dance and you can always see it in a lot of my videos. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I always listen to my music… If its sad, I don’t wanna be smiling or acting sexy. LOL For a sad song I wouldn’t look straight at the audience or video cam….I think, keeping it feeling like, its only you in the room, looks better than pretending to feel sad. I Do more hiding of my face or showing frustration for a sad song. I like to know my lyrics for the song, this can help a lot. Its really about honestly feeling the song your dancing too. For me I HAVE to like the song I’m dancing to or the dances wont turn out well. Even a simple raise of an eyebrow or smirk, can engage your audience. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I recently did a video to the song Smile…and I think it turned out well because I didn’t plaster the SAME smile on my face for the whole song….I let my true emotion come out while I danced. I did sing to it though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif If I’m not really feeling the song then it never looks genuine. Just keep it real, unless your on Broadway, then its all about over acting https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
Just like anything else though, I think that practice makes perfect https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I am soooo totally in love with pole dance because, I have finally found the perfect outlet for me to express my feeling for the music that moves me!! This is one of my favorite dances I have done, it was a spur of the moment dance and I just had fun with it.

I have an excellent strength lesson on the way, (hopefully up sometime this week) that will help dancers learn how to properly engage their upper back for climbs, hold and inverts. Its good that you are aware that it could be a problem for you. Going into inverts, climbs and hold with a rounded upper back is never a good thing. A video would be nice so we can see what is going on. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
