Since you have been poling off and on I think you would benefit from starting at the beginning. If you watch the very first lesson, it explains how to progress through them to build strength. You can add in the stretching lessons to the end of your pole sessions to remind the muscles to relax. If you want to work on gaining flexibility then this should also be done after a workout, or later in the day…… Watching all of the "getting started" lessons for each section will explain everything. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

A lot of dancers stuggle with the strength needed for the Inverted V for a while. The upper back (traps, lats rombs), bicep and abs are all used heavily and you have to pull up against gravity. The Reverse takes less strength in those areas because gravity is your friend, your not lifting anything but opening up and holding position…..you do however need shoulder/scapula strength and flexibility for the bottom overhead arm and a good grip with the upper hand. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Thank you for starting this thread….I was going to post something as well. It sounds silly but Steve made it easier for me to share my passion with the world. I would really be lost without my Mac! He was truly and amazing person and he will always be remembered!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I have use a 38mm and loved it! It is challenge for some leg holds but it was really fun! It does feel a LOT smaller than my 45 though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_harry.gif

Ah thanks so much for your support Oliviaaa! It's common for studios have totally different names for moves. I stick to descriptive names and also include the common AKA names in the lesson descriptions. It's not wrong to use a different names. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I have worked hard on developing a way to teach online that is easy for the user to follow and to progress by building strength first. I feel things like the twisted grip should be taught in person, because it isn't a neutral position.

Check to make sure your exhaling as you invert, its common to hold the breath and not exhale. Also while upside down keep breathing. Holding the breath can cause headache and high blood pressure as well. If your taking the lessons I give you cues for when to breath in this lesson https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/f7c4b192-b91e-11df-856f-001b214581be
