Your moves are looking really nice and solid. Now you can do as others have suggested and start working on pointed feet and slight variations! Well done https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Glitter…I’ll be making a lesson for inverted body waves, but I don’t think it will be for awhile. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif For now this is what helped me…. I don’t only move my midsection, to make it look more dramatic roll the motion all the way though to the knees. This works for the upright body wave hold as well. Keep the legs together and start by pushing the hips back pull them forward and follow through down to the knee. Keep the knees soft and don’t bend them too much, just a little. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif Its so hard to explain on paper or should I say screen…..

Keep the thoughts coming! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifI hope that we continue to see a few different types of Competitions and let’s not forget Shows! All the talk about points and regulations would seem a bit more Sport and Olympic in nature. Which is great. But it would also be nice to keep the free flowing artistic aspect of pole going as well….this would seem to be the most difficult to judge. At least in my opinion.
To echo what others have said ….not everyone will agree with the judges, its always that way. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

I have a lesson coming for the Aerial/Inverted Pole Split. I enter into it from a Star there are a few different hand placements I’ll be demonstrating as well. One tip is to be sure your hooked leg in the Star is very secure before moving into the pose. This will allow you to move your hands around. I like to hold my hands in an X position or with the inside arm wrapped around my lower leg and pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

AdministratorOctober 12, 2010 at 1:25 am in reply to: Competitions – complaints, good stuff, thoughtsI think Competitions are great and can give dancers something to work towards. Right now the pole industry is so new…… We have a lot to take into consideration with both competitions and performances. Here are some of my thoughts/questions……
Will there be a standard size pole?
standard finish?
should we really allow grip aids if they cannot be cleaned off fully for the next dancer? Both finish and grips will react differently to different skin so what do we do about that? And how else can Dancers combat a cold pole and in some cases a lack of a proper warm up?
Is there a standard height of workable pole dancers will work with?I would like to see large scale showcases marketed to the public. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Its great to know there are amazing professionals like yourself on the site who take the initiative to talked about this in a respectful manner. This is what I ardor about the Veeners!
So with that in mind…..when disusing the complaints…..PLEASE keep it professional. We are the most largest, highest trafficked Pole dance website in the world so yes people are watching even if they do not comment. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif Please keep that in mind. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Eva, thank you so much for sharing this information. I think I shed a lot of light as to what the judges were looking for!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

The ladies are right….Warming up both the pole and your body is so important for grip. Here is an article about weather and grip https://www.studioveena.com/info/2009/05/19/the-temperamental-pole/ and I also have a WARM UP in the lessons that is made to warm both your pole and your body!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

As far as I know Empy….no one has made those kinds of remarks here on SV though. I know I read something that was posted to Facebook about Drama and accusations or something to that affect. I wasn’t even aware people were upset about any of the results. I also wasn’t sure which competition was causing all the drama! I’m always so pleased that the members are thoughtful people.
I agree that judges have it rough….but I also don’t always understand their decisions either. Not just with the worlds comp but many others as well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Its all so new and still working out the kinks.

I would guess Keex is right….Prncsopowr makes a valid point as well. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif My own personal trouble spots are my hipflexors and along with that I have tight hamstrings (I should say they are not terrible but compared to the rest of my body they’re the areas I have had to focus on). Thank God for foam rollers and tennis balls!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif If you can make it into Bendy Buddy chat tomorrow I can show you some of the stretches and massage techniques I have been using. If I’m not there some of the other wonderful members could also help you out too! Anyway….Tight hip flexors can also cause lower back pain by causing the pelvis to tilt forward. Strengthening your low back can be helpful if this is the case, along with the stretching. Focusing on stretching and massaging the Rectus Femoris can be also helpful.

Thank you so much for posting this! Pole Art is my favorite style of pole, even though I am not trained in any dance. I wish more pole dancers danced in their routines. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
