Hi Dancing in the gray! First please don't judge your weight/health by the BMI only…..or even just a scale. We all have very different body types, and being healthy, is the MOST important thing. The scale and BMI are just tools and they don't always give us the full picture! There are very unhealthy thin people and very healthy "overweight"<—- says BMI.
Eating right, and exercising should be the goal. Thin doesn't = heath. Reenie is correct about how fast weight loss should be. ……Anyway the rate for a trainer you posted, is pretty standard and finding a trainer you feel comfortable with is very important. Just like pole instructors, your trainer should be able to give you several options if you find an exercise they've given hurts or doesn't work for you. They should be able to give you cues as to how you can get the most out of every exercise. Small adjustments can made a big difference! If the trainer just tells you "do this, like this" and sits there looking around at others, not giving you the attention or direction you need find someone else.
I was wondering if you have ever taken the lesson here? I have a lot of conditioning and stretching that could possibly help you with your imbalance! There have been member who have seen great results by doing these exercises here. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

The Twisted Grip is a professional level move. The risk is very high that the majority of the population does not have the strength or range of motion to perform this without risk of injury. I don't feel it's a grip that should be taught in studios, if it is, it should be done during private lessons and both the student and instructor need to know what to look for as far as readiness and poor technique.
Many of us, myself included, have said over and over, please do not use the twisted grip because it's "easier" to hold moves. Respect your body and it's limits and focus on your strengths. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
Pain in the bottom arm durning split grips is common as well, and is commonly due to poor technique or lack of strength. The split grip is advanced, and we all should remember that not every pole move is right for all pole dancers.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Aradia. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I find that staying hydrated helps a little bit but nothing huge. It is what it is….all photos we see in the media are edited sooooo, we can't compare to that.

It’s not difficult to fill the holes when you leave. The important thing will be to make sure you have found the stud so you drill into that, and don’t end up drilling all over! 🙂

Byrdgrrl, I plan of getting something for outdoor use…the weather is just great here so it would be nice! I have to wait on that for now though. Where did you buy yours?
I decided to go with a studioveena member Hope Banrion McCurdy for the hammock! If anyone else is interested here is her site. http://www.aerialempowerment.com/aerial-store.html https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorSeptember 13, 2012 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Thinner pole better for short legged polers?A lot of it really comes down to personal preference do to the tricks you tend to gravitate towards. I don't mind dancing on any diameter pole, I like them all. I find that some of them allow for different variations or more comfortable positioning than others. I like smaller diameter poles for things that involve using hands only. The larger 50 is great for legs and thigh holds, I like it for armpit holds as well….. and flags. For me the 45mm is the best of both worlds, not too large or too small. Really you can learn to work with any size pole though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I think there are a few other stretches in the individual lessons as well, you may want to take a look at those. Not all of the individual lessons are in the routines. The individuals also give you a bit more direction for placement ect also. You'll see the muscles stretched listed in the description….they are also placed in groups. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

If you have disc issues you should talk with your dr about back exercise that are sutable for you. If you have a healthy back, you shouldn’t have a problem with stretches that use extention.
Have you tried using any of the stretches for the back in the lessons or the back mobility routine?

Try using a steamer, like one for clothes, to clean it. An iron set to steam would work too. Make sure your pole is warmed up as well this will help with grip.

I think the new colors are on the website! I’d have to look and see if the bottoms are on the site.

Of course I bought some https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Also today at Target I saw they had underwear….the short's like style 2 for 1 in hot pink and some other fun colors. I think they would work great for pole. I can't remember the brand….https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Titanium gold is a great option for cold weather poling. Chrome can work well too!! Titanium can be too grippy for new dancers who love to work on static spin, chrome is better for static spins, and the common "death grip" newer dancers experience. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

You don't have to use a pole, we've had members do a chair dance, hoop or even just floorwork. We are not too picky about it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_harry.gif<–Wicked. lol
