Azblanco, is right, you've come to the right place!! I have individual stretching lessons that give you an in depth look at alignment so you'll get the most out of your stretches. There are a few stretches for each muscle group, and they are grouped together! Also we offer 3 stretching routines that are about 20 mins long. About the equivalent of 3 dvds. If you have any questions on about a stretch, you can leave a comment for me and I'll help you out. In addition to all of that, we have a foam roller section, which is great to use before stretching to increase range of motion and great for after workouts to relax muscles. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Pumpkin Chocolate Loaf!!!
Makes 3 loaves (I have also made it into muffins)
3 1/2 cups Sugar
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 (29oz) can solid packed pumpkin
3 squares (1 oz each) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 to 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
In large bowl, combine sugar and oil. Add eggs: mix well. Stir in the pumpkin, chocolate and vanilla: mix well.
Combine dry ingredients: stir into pumpkin mix, until lightly blended. Fold in chips.
Transfer to 3 greased 9 in. x 5 in. x 3 in. loaf pans (I like to make them into muffins)
Bake at 350 degrees for 55-65 mins or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool and remove from pan or muffin tins. Wrap and freeze for up to 6 months!

It must be a big adjustment!! I don't know if the studio in Bismarck is still there, but it could be worth looking into. If you have a home pole there are always the lessons on here too.

Hello and welcome! I grew up in ND and still have family there! Where are you located? There is one studio in Bismarck and a great place in Fargo! But that is it….

Eva X…as I stated before, if someone would like advice or a critique, then the member will ask for it in the video description. Then, members here gladly critique with honesty. There was someone recently who was entering a competition, and she wanted to know what to work on and the advice given was very constructive…without being rude of course.
I'll say again, MOST members posting are just looking to share or show what they have learned so critique is not really necessary, and support is important.
Eva X, If you would like your video to be critiqued please feel free to write in your description that you are looking for critique and advice, it's that simple and we would be happy to help you out.

PS…I want you all to know…when I comment, I mean what I say. If I complement you I mean it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

This is a place where dancers can share there progress with others who understand. We are proud of our supportive nature and will continue to strive for this. Those who are looking for a constructive criticism will ask for it on the video or in the video description. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism, when it's wanted, and it's great feedback. But, not every posting is looking for feedback on things to improve, sometimes it just feels good to dance and share!
There is a language barrier but I think that is seen more in the forum posts.

Happy Birthday!! I love you! Thank you for all making this site possible!

I use both right now, because I have poles in 2 different rooms and I LOVE using the mount! The dome is great and secure as well, (when installed right, as with ANY pole) but using the mount makes switching out, removing and setting up super fast and easy. If you don’t mind drilling a few holes into the ceiling I highly recommend the mount!

Yep, tic toc! The video dustbunny posted has a good view of what's going on during the move. One thing that I do to slow the descend down is to press the forearm of the gripping hand into the pole. This allows me more control then keeping the gripping arm straight and to the side of the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I still have some moves that hurt, but I don't notice it unless I stop to think about it. Keep on dancing!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifOh, and don't forget to breath!

I think instead of focusing on Age, it would be best to categorize classes by fitness level…not age.
Fitness level or lack there of, is the biggest issue when taking a pole class. You can have a very strong fit 50 something, and a very unfit 20 year old!!
Here's a thought I had….. It may seem like those under 30 progress faster, but, that my just be because the girls who are drawn to a pole class are already fit. Those (regardless of age) who are not already in shape or do not work out regularly are, possibly less likely to sign up for a pole class because they feel pole is only for skinny women.
To be honest I also wouldn't want to take a class that's 30+ At 35 I am in MUCH better shape then I was at 19. So anyway…maybe try going with fitness levels instead of age. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

When you're stiff, try not to sit around too long. It ends up making you feel REALLY stiff. Try doing some light activity (not pole work) but swimming, walking, gentle yoga. Foam rolling and gentle stretching can help too. Try stretching and foam rolling after a very hot bath!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorSeptember 27, 2012 at 1:31 pm in reply to: Dealing with the pain with inversionsFiremuffy… are you saying the Gemini also is painful or just the Bridge variation? You'll feel more pressure on the Knee pit in bridge as you place the arms over head to push away. Like all moves the pain will decrease over time. You'll be more sensitive to pain close to your period so keep that in mind as well. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

HI Polariz5. congrats on your great workout!!!
Here are some beginner tips and suggestions for ya. Please make sure to give your body a day off pole dance tricks after each session. This will help prevent overuse injuries. So MWF you would pole, and TTHS you would rest. I would suggest working on the Pole Hold without jumping though, for most pole moves the goal is to use control and avoid kicking, jumping or excessive swinging to perform moves. It all comes down to building strength with takes time, but it's so possible and totally worth it!
The fireman isn't easy, so don't feel discouraged by that! It is often thought of as one of the first move you should learn, but it's important to condition and strengthen the body before moving on to spins! Spins are not beginner moves.
If you are interest, and looking for guidance at home. I have a ton of info in the lessons here. I'll give you tips for how often to pole, as well as provide you with a structure to follow. All lessons are placed in order so there is no guess as to what to do next. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorSeptember 25, 2012 at 12:07 pm in reply to: Interesting piece on Anderson Cooper’s show about children and poleLOL Sascha….I'm not upset over this. But, is does show the reality of how "some" perceive pole dance.
I have not seen the whole episode on Anderson's show. The little bit I did see was of Goldie (I only saw a bit) she was supportive, but had issues with the "term" pole dance, because people just can't separate pole dance from sexy. I can see where she is coming from on that. If you want to teach children to pole in a studio, I would not include it in a studio where sensuality is a focus. It would be best kept in a sporty pole studio setting. Calling it "little climbers" or something fun could cause people to be more open as well. I have not seen what the ladies on the show said or even what Anderson said to them.

Well, someone has to state the obvious, so here it goes: You are a stupid whore. Your kids will grow up to be stupid. You will never realize you are stupid. You haven't thought of the negative connotations of kids pole-dancing, well, because you don't THINK very often. The same people that support this are desperately trying to legalize child porn as well (looking at you, Huffposers). I'm sure as Rome was turning into a decadent hellhole. there were throngs of people calling it "progressive."
People are ignorant and there is nothing we can do to change that. It's up to us to just ignore them and move on. We know there are many sides to pole and there is a style of pole for everyone! xoxo

@ Juicy Jenn, Yes, you don't have to use a pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
