My kids are 11, 10, 7 (in a few days), and 4. I pole in the morning, I just don't have the energy to pole at night! If I get a chance to pole here is my schedule,
Everyone has breakfast (me too)
Older kids get ready for school
I clean up dishes, make beds, get school work together, start some laundry.
Kids leave for school, Henry gets dressed. We hang out for a bit.
Snack time, for both of us.
Workout time for me!! TV time for Henry or sometimes get him to play alone.
When I'm done it's about time for lunch!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I have a protein shake and Henry has lunch, I'll eat an hour or 2 later.
I dance around my kids often and we even dance together! But I've made it clear that my workout time weather its pole or hooping, is mommies time. So they have learned to let me be…for the most part. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I love our poling and hooping time together though!

Soooo many of us hold our body fat in that area and its totally normal. Unless you're going to be in a figure competition I wouldn't stress about it too much. My pooch comes and goes, depending on what I'm eating and if I am working my abdominals. After having kids my abs are always the first thing to go when I don't exercise. Upper abs always stay around but the pooch likes to appear! It takes a strict diet and workout schedule to have really flat abs.
Anyway…the transverse abdominal help archive the flat look. These muscle are like a girdle or should I say like spanks. lol I have a lot of exercises in the lessons that focus on proper abdominal engagement and doing them properly really will help. But don't forget about diet it makes a big difference.
Here an 8 minute core routine that you may find helpful. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/50bf696c-332c-43be-8cce-433a0ac37250

Runemist, if your shoulders are so weak that you cannot do a reverse handstand against a pole, you should not be inverting. I would suggest you strengthen the upper body before moving on to any inverted work. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

Try cleaning it with a fabric steamer to get all of the manufacturing junk off. It works really well. You MUST put the pole under a stud/joist. Alcohol will not hurt your pole, windex will not harm it either. Some ppl have issues with windex on their skin though.

Itac is not for sweaty hands, try mighty grip or dry hands. You may want to try the might grip gloves too, just get the ones that do NOT have tack on them.
-
Do you mean your hands only sweat and slippy or your whole body? If it's only hands try some grip aids that are formulated for sweaty hands to see if that helps. If you have sweaty hands only go with a finish that will work best for your body, because regardless of finish you'll usually have issues. You can also try using gloves. If your body sticks well to chrome and you want super grip, then you'd really like titanium gold.
I have the old xpole brass and would not suggest you go with that finish. I lived in MN and I couldn't use it. They do have a "new" brass finish where they say it's better, but I have not tried it. So I couldn't tell you if it's has better grip. Now that it's cooler here in Vegas I can't use the brass again. ONLY when my whole body is wet and sweaty, then the grip is great. The titanium gold was amazing in the Midwest cold months. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Rachface, its not a stupid question at all. It doesn't have to be whey. I use soy protein because I'm also Lactose intolerant. But it also doesn't have to be a powder, it can be chicken or any other high quality protein.
Don't wait to long to eat after pole dancing. Try to have your recovery meal about 30 minutes after you've stopped working out.
Unless your working out pretty heavily you wont need to eat TONS of protein any where from 15-40 grams is good, staying on the lower end if you not working out too hard and the higher end if you're really training a lot. Something as simple as a peanut butter and banana roll up can be a good option. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Ooooh… well…., Anastasiakow, the lessons here are designed to build strength to help you progress fastr! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifYou don't need to be strong or have a previous background in anything. Even if you've never touched a pole you could learn and build strength from the lessons here. Its not like youtube. They are also placed in order so you don't have to guess what you should be working on for your level.
Yeah, your skin will get better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Are you using the online lessons here? If so, be sure to check out all of the "Getting Started" video lessons. They explain how to use the lessons and have some great tips in there as well. You can also structure your pole workouts with the info in those lessons.
The lessons have both static and spinning pole so make sure your not confusing the 2. Static is placed first and spinning pole last in each lesson.
The girls have some great advice on bruising. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Make sure you're eating enough! As Danielle said, make sure you're having some carbs and protein right after you workout. I notice a BIG difference in my energy level and recovery if I'm not eating well. I received a juicer for my birthday present and it really helps. I only juice every few days, because you can over do it. But it's a fast way for me to consume the veggies I need. I'm a very slow eater and have a lot to do in a day so yay for the juicer. When I'm serious about training I make sure I have healthy grab and go snacks. I tell my kids chips and cookies are not snacks, they're treats. lol
Making sure you get enough sleep is important too.
If you want to see how hard your working out, make sure you're writing down what your doing for practice. If you do set and reps of anything write it down too. When it comes to training for myself (I'm 35) I do find that less can be more when it comes to working out. Quality not quantity. I hope you figure out what works for you! xoxo

Hi Hefmod, Are you sure it's a stainless steel finish or is it a chrome finish? If it's an xpole and its shiny silver then I bet it's chrome.
I have some tips for you regardless of finish. If is a new pole clean try cleaning it with a clothes steamer or an iron on steam. Just steam, and wipe until the pole is nice and dry. New poles have lots of factory junk on them and it can take time for it to come off, I've found steaming is the fastest way.
Also, make sure you've warmed your body and pole well enough. Its common for home polers to forget to warm up and this can cause grip issues.
We all have our strengths and moves that are just not right for our bodies and that's totally fine and normal. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I think you were taking the lessons so I'm guessing you've seen this video? Tips for Spinning pole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtinAzp17s0&list=UUup79MtZnWP_SCAHeVlmzdQ&index=8&feature=plcp
After I've been off the spinning pole for a while it takes me a few sessions to acclimate! Keep at it. Try a little every time you pole, do it at the end of you session so you don't end up too dizzy or sick to practice lol. Stay upright the first few sessions, don't invert right away. I never spot or look at the pole, I just let my eyes wonder. Do a few holds, then move on to floorowork or something non spinning. Then go back to do a few more passes on spin. Little bits at a time work great for me. I get sick feeling when I start using my yoga hammock the first few times too, because of the motion. LOL I does get better, keep at it!!
Come see me in Vegas and we'll work on it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Well as you probably know I teach that the outside leg comes to the pole first. This allows for the nice sweeping motion (it shouldn't be a kick though!)https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif and keep the upper body close to the pole. I personally rarely go right into a Scorpio/inside leg hang from standing, it has never felt as pretty to me. Not saying it isn't, just I don't like how it "feels". If the lead leg was reversed I think students may be more likely to smack into the pole, or stand too far away while bring the leg up? Unless your inverting with hips in front of the pole with legs in V position, but this is very advanced. It's interesting to think about, makes me want to go invert. lol I do a move called the up n over where the inside leg leads and it feels so weird. lol

I have MANY xpoles….. old style, new style and stages. They are a great pole. We sell them on the site as well and offer free shipping! As long as you set them up right you'll be fine. My favorite xpole finish is their titanium gold, it's grippy right away. I have had troubles with their brass being slick when the weather gets cool. If you live in a very warm climate or really sweat alot the brass might work best for you.
I'll post a video of myself using them….here I'm using the 45mm titanutm and 40mm chrome

Yes, it's palm up. I have a lesson for it here if you like.
Shoulder stand https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4d3d902e-226c-446f-9339-2e730ac37250
Make sure that you're not putting all of your weight on the shoulder, but rather really push through with the hand that is on the floor.

Armonia, if you like just use the contact link and explain that you want to switch plans. Webmaster will take care of it.

You have to put most of your weight on the hands, so you need good balance. It helps too if you have very flexible hamstrings, this will help you keep the weight off the pole more and onto the hands. You can't rely on using the pole much as you slide down.
