This is an 8 minute, core strengthening warm up. It can be used on its own at any time to condition the core or as a warm up. Intermediate and advanced dancers should try using it before or after the pole strength routine for a great workout. It's important to hold a neutral pelvis throughout the routine to be most effective.
portableninjaVeena, thank you! This is just what I needed. I like your core conditioning exercises, but it's tricky to string them together into a routine. It's much easier to do with your cues.

eatvegancookies Paid MemberJust what I needed, too! I got home later than expected and didn't have the motivation to re-arrange my room to pole and do my usual routine. I saw that this could be used on its own and just tried it and it kicked my ass...I mean, core!!!

VeenaGreat!

SpyralBoundHow can I tell if my pelvis has shifted out of neutral?
Dec 6, 2012
VeenaYou won't be holding yourself in the same way and probably will have relaxed the abdominals. The low back may have started to round and the belly poke out instead of pull in. I like to watch myself in the mirror

Cantetinza17I NEED THIS! I lack in core strength so I totally need to make friends with this workout!

ShonaLancsMy physio recommended a few of these for strengthening my abs to correct my lowrdosis. Not easy stuff but works very quickly if done correctly :-)

Philia23928The cool thing about this one is that it's only 8 min so you can't really use the "it takes too long" excuse to get out of it :-D

hookedonpole Previous Paid MemberI used this warm up this week for Beginner Fundamentals class I am teaching. They loved it! Even some of the more advanced gals took this class and said this warm up was great. It's excellent work out, warm up and short enough to not take a lot of time during an hour class. Thank you!!!

Whiskers Previous Paid MemberHi Veena! This is a great work-out, but with the first leg switching (hands on the floor or in the air), my lower back seems to hurt. What am I doing wrong?
Mar 16, 2019
VeenaProbably need to make sure you keep pressing the low back flat. Don't arch.
Mar 16, 2019
Whiskers Previous Paid MemberThank you for the tip! However, it feels like I'm trying so hard not to arch I start to slouch. Or I just need to get a little stronger..
Mar 17, 2019
VeenaIf your doing the switch right you might only be able to get a few good ones before your form suffers and you need to stop. They are tough. If you let the back arch and come up off the floor you will be able to do much more but it won't target the right area and cause stress on the low back.

I just started Studio Veena. The best explainations ever. Some basic things I couldn't do now became easy (and basic). I'm totally in love with Veena's training. Thank you so much for making these lessons available.
