ALWAYS work within your ability and comfort level. That’s the best way to avoid an accident. However accidents happen, I pole danced during my last pregnancy and danced within my ability without issue… BUT, the pregnancy before I fell down a small flight of steps while very pregnant (I instinctively turned and landed on my hip so everything was ok!) but it could have been very bad! My point is accidents happen even doing everyday things like walking steps.

Fear is something that is very powerful and whatever you allow your mind to dwell on tends to manifest. So if you always come into pole practice with fear and worry, you will have a difficult time moving past these fears. The best thing you can do is stay positive and don’t dwell on negative thoughts, when they pop up, learn to switch on positive thoughts.

December 27, 2014 at 8:20 pm in reply to: How to acquire the strength for pole moves using split-grip, cup-grip, twisted-grip

HI PoleRules, from your post it seems you are fairly new to pole? If so you can avoid unnecessary injuries that will keep you off the pole by practicing pole in a progressive manner. Moves using the grips you’ve listed are not beginner level (at least not to me) They are intermediate and advanced. I don’t even teach the twisted grip for the most part.

If you don’t have a studio that offers conditioning at strength work for these grips you may want to look into the lessons here, I have many conditioning, strength and pole lessons to help you achieve these grips. I also provide close up looks at hand placement and address proper scapula engagement as well. I’ve placed everything in order and you will progress naturally to these more advanced grips. As I mentioned before its REALLY important to condition the body for these grips and with youtube it’s REALLY hard to know if the move someone is sharing truly is beginner appropriate! Split grips and twisted grips are not beginner pole work. If you’re looking for instruction at home the lessons here are perfect for that! 🙂

December 26, 2014 at 5:31 pm in reply to: new TG xpole weird grip issue

I have heard of others having the same issue with hands and TG. I don’t have sweaty hands normally and I don’t have issue with my TG, however, in Vegas I would sometimes have a slip grip issue when it was very hot and I would sweat. I think Brass and stainless is better for sweaty hands. Try using mighty grip on the hands maybe?

Both Lil Mynx and Xpole are great, and I use both and we sell both here. 🙂
    https://www.studioveena.com/store/

This video explains and gives you a visual on the differences of static and spinny poles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtinAzp17s0 I personally suggest buying a pole that has both because you don’t HAVE to use spin, but then you’ll have it if you want to try it.
