Something to keep in mind when exercising pregnant, drink a lot of water, after the first trimester don’t lay on the back and do exercises for long periods of time, be careful with stretching because with hormones it’s easy to over stretch. 🙂

Hi! There a many threads on this topic. Here is a list of them I found in our search function. https://www.studioveena.com/searches/index?s=Pregnant+Poling Feel free do try your own search too.

I poled with my last pregnancy. Most important thing is to talk with your dr so you are cleared for exercise and avoid learning new moves, stay with things you are 100% comfortable with. If you are new to pole then wait and come back to it after baby. 🙂

January 7, 2015 at 1:12 pm in reply to: 2015 Splits Challenge

Ok, here’s what I’ve seen over my years of training and stretching myself….Keep in mind there are TONS of theories on stretching.

When I started watching gymnastics on TV as a kid and began training myself I have always been able to do an OK front split BUT not squared, I had to work on squared a lot! My families hips have natural “openness” that helped me in that way. Middle splits I had to work for and my BACK mobility was almost non existent!! I’ve worked hard on that.

Through my personal experience training my Back Middles and squared splits I’ve found that it took a year or more of CONSISTENT training to be able to do a GOOD (I’m not gonna regret this tomorrow) back bend cold.

I think a lot of people forget how long someone has worked consistently on something for both the body and mind to remember what you’re asking of it. If you have only begun to get serious about flexibility training you will probably not see an increase in cold stretch for quite some time. HOWEVER…..someone who’s naturally flexible in an area will progress faster and be more likely to do splits and such cold.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND YOU DO NOT NEED TO TRAIN EVERYDAY! STRETCHING DAILY IS OK…BUT FLEXIBILITY TRAINING SHOULD NOT BE DONE DAILY!!! DO NOT PUSH AND TRAIN TO GAIN FLEXIBILITY MORE THAT A FEW TIMES PER WEEK. TRAINING TOO OFTEN WHEN STARTING CAN SLOW PROGRESS!!!!!!!!! If you guys are looking for a good guideline try following the Stretching section here for more tips and help with stretching. xoxox

With practice you can work around sticky hands and learn grip control. Usually it’s sweaty hands that have the worst issue because they just are so slick! If you’re interested, in the lessons you see how you can work on grip control while in pole hold. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/54921dfb-d4f0-474e-b098-238d0a9aa0eb

Day 6! Shoulder slide ↘️ That’s the best I could figure for an emoticon! 😊

This is one I love to do and it’s a great way to warm the pole, however if you find you’re sticking too much place a small towel over the shoulder or wear a shirt. Here are two lessons for this move.

I’m so happy you feel comfortable here! 💜

As far as weight loss, there are so many different thoughts on this so you have to find what fits with your lifestyle. My advice, stay away from fad diets!! See a nutritionist if possible. Choose whole food whenever possible, avoid packaged products even if they say diet, whole foods are a better value and making your own meals and snacks can help you save money! Eat regularly! Keep up with the pole dancing and have fun with it! 😊

January 4, 2015 at 5:49 pm in reply to: extended butterfly question

Always try BOTH sides, you really never know which side will feel most comfortable. Once you can do the move on the most comfortable side start working on the opposite. This lesson explains which limb goes where. 🙂 https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4d0f72c7-bb30-4035-8905-6a420ac37250

    Here’s an Extended Butterfly.

January 4, 2015 at 5:42 pm in reply to: This is why you don’t kick into an invert!

Ouch! Yes, your right do not kick into moves! I’m glad you’ll be ok. In the future, if you need to hook the foot on the pole for any move like a Half Cartwheel, (NOT INVERTS) try wearing some running shoes or fitness trainers to protect the foot. There should be no toe scrambling or heel hooking for inverts. If you need to grab the pole with the foot, you’re not yet ready to invert.

As for inverts you’re ready to invert when you can perform several strong and controlled Side Pole Holds, Fan Kicks and Knee Tucks. The Basic invert lesson here is broken down into a few steps to show upper and lower body along with how to put it all together. There is nothing wrong with using a sweeping motion as you step forward into an invert, however kicking puts you at risk for injuries. Under each lesson you’ll find Related lessons that you can work on in order to help you build the strength, technique or flexibility needed for the main player lesson. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/50eafb60-e868-4d1b-bc49-75780ac37250

There is no need to suffer through injuries when polling, if this is happening then you need to check your technique and be sure you’re working within a safe level for you. 🙂
