So no more trying out crazy moves at home just focus on basics with Veena and you guys.
I will still freestyle if I can find time though.

MemberSeptember 16, 2014 at 3:12 pm in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?I am really excited about going back to basics. Right now I ache everywhere, I’m bruised, over trained and a bit overwhelmed… There’s so much I want to work on. Handstands. Back flexibility. Scorpio sequences. Cupid. Allegra. A load of choreo I want to put together. The mermaid freestyle. Argh. I don’t know where to start.
I think the 30 day programme will help my muscle memory so I feel safer and stronger and hurt myself less. And I want to reawaken my half- forgotten pole and dance vocabulary so I can just move without thinking so much and have a greater range of simple movements – because all dance is based out of simple movements that link and build in complexity and the only way to get that down is to have the basics down so it’s in the muscles and in the blood.
Even the greatest ballet stars can be found at the barre every day doing the basic simple plié and arm and leg movements that the most junior dancers do: because it’s where it all comes from.
What are your 30 day goals?

But people can do one after the other if they want!
Do what works for your fitness level and goals, we will all encourage each other no matter what – deal? 🙂 -

Looks like Wednesday is day 1 for most people with some people maybe jumping in earlier or later this week – cool! Here we go!
30 days to build up pole skills, 30 days to build up abs – or both! -

I actually semi started today but only got as far as warm up and scapula stuff then had to go to pole class. I will finish day 1 tonight, take Tues off and restart Wednesday.

By the way wet sweat is slippy but dried sweat is grippy – ceiling fan on high helps lots!

MemberSeptember 15, 2014 at 1:15 pm in reply to: Anyone up for doing Veena’s 30 day programme?I can do both if you like? The ab one doesn’t take long at all, even the last few days are about 15 min max.

Oh goody the sweaty look is in, great when you live in a climate of 80F + all year with 85% humidity. I wear yoga gear even when not working out as it’s designed to work with sweat! So if the sporty shiny look is in this could be the moment when I’m suddenly fashionable!

If your ceilings are under 9 feet you do not need extra extensions but if they are higher you will so worth checking before you buy. Yes, best to get pole with static and spin modes – xpert xpole is easy to switch modes.
-
X pole x pert is my recommendation: how tall are your ceilings?

I think it was the skillz not the crotch flashing!
I don’t think it will ever be my wowing the public move! -

MemberSeptember 12, 2014 at 1:20 pm in reply to: You have 15 seconds to bust a move to impress a non-poler: what do you do?I have noticed non polers seem to be impressed by quite simple things like planks. Or cradle spin up from bottom of pole. And upside down things even simple inverts like inverted crucifix has the ‘oho’ factor but some other really hard stuff doesn’t get the same recognition.

Yep you should have A pole, B pole and 2 extensions, then if ceiling under 8 feet 2 add the 125mm extension, if 8 feet 2.5 inches to 8 foot 7 inches the 250mm bit, if 8 foot 6 to 9 feet then both extensions and if over 9 feet, get the longer extension, which is 450mm I think, from memory, not sure. Over 11 feet you must have permanent mount, most places I know use mounts if over ten feet.
-
Do you have the extension already? If so
🙂 🙂 -
Yes you need extension piece 🙁 sorry
Call or email xpole. -
Sorry, posting in a rush…I’d also email xpole customer service the pics and story and ask their advice.
-
Days should read ‘says’ sorry.

I am careful and controlled though and avoid jumping and anything that slams into the pole hard sideways…(Hope I haven’t jinxed it)
Enjoy your pole and don’t over tighten; that seems to be the main ceiling stressor.

What is she trying to do, create an army of hair flicking yogic pole clones??? We all have our own journeys: she sounds bonkers.
Glad you saw the supportive empowered side of pole at Expo (and of course on here)
Good luck with your own road – your own dance – your own sweet way.

MemberSeptember 6, 2014 at 7:15 am in reply to: Recomendations for what to do on a thicker pole?Hello Baglady! Hope the work is going well.
Thick, slippery pole: would go with gemini into hand stands with wavy legs/hip tilts and booty shakes (always a crowd pleaser)
Can also do forearm stands if easier.
Come up by locking thighs and doing CAR pull ups (impresses some customers)
Hello Boys/wrist seat and slide.
Plank/twisted scissor plank/advanced plank
Jasmine/star
Elbow hang stuff
Slow fan kicks
Figurehead/hood ornament
This is more for you to have fun than to get rained on but it’s a pole, it’s playtime heh heh… -
Shoog! Sorry to hear you’re on a pole break. Heal well and safely.
On the upside can’t WAIT to see your chair/wall/floor flow. I reckon this time out will take you up yet another gear from fantastically talented to mind bendingly original and amazing as a dancer.
