Also if you just want to perform there are comps you can enter. And you can see if there are places in the city that have aerial activities and see if you can perform with them. You could get a stage pole. Where I practice is right across a studio from an aerials place. They invite polers to perform with them in showcases and there is also a dance company in town today melds all types of dance from ballet to hip hop to jazz funk. They offered to let me perform in their showcases when I feel I’m “better”

That sounds fun! I work retail so my schedule is always up and down. If you post when you will be doing it, I can always pop on if I’m free! Skype or Veena is fine with me as well

hey poleleo! is your pole in the center of the living room or off to one side? i ask because you may be able to create a space in the living area that stays hardwood if it isnt smack dab in the center lol

Omg! Yes! I’ve been working on this lately!

i know that pole la teaz has introductory sampler workshops that they offer that can give you a taste of a few of the classes they offer. im sure the others do too but i dont know about those myself. i have personally been to pole la teaz and gone through their level 1 series. i loved it but i live 2 hours away in chattanooga was too much for me.

LOL! im horrible with it as well. in my case if i see something and the whole routine was awesome ill ask the instructor (if it was for a class) if they mind if i learn it, especially if im going to post the video. i dont want to flaunt their material in a video and not have permission

getting songs from other people is how i grow my playlist. i come across something daily that i have never heard before because someone else danced to it. now copying someones choreography move for move to a song (without prior permission and credit) i could see causing a problem.

i’ve done a bikram hot class as my first ever yoga class and had mixed feelings. i shouldn’t have done it as my first ever yoga class but i was so excited after seeing results from a friend that i had to try it. it was a bit much for my first class, but overall i loved it. i sweat quite a bit myself and slipped around but i think that with a towel and longer pants (i wore shorts), that could be remedied. i felt relaxed and refreshed afterwards and my skin was amazing. on that note, i have also taken yin yoga classes and LOVE those. i was advised that there is a fusion yoga class that does a hot yin so i am going to try that. i believe i like the yin focus more than the yang.

I still record myself because i pick out things that i did well so i know those are "mine" and things i can work on next time to make them mine.

@chem my thoughts exactly but I didnt want to be over dressed either. Ill find a cute top that can double for poling just in case and figure a pair of nice jeans cant hurt. Have spare bottoms for poling with me. I cant stand the excitement!

I'm in! I tried for splits by christmas and just fell OFF…real hard. LOL So Just this week I have dedicated myself to getting back pole ready and getting both of my side splits and make ANY sort of progress on my middle. LOL I'll have some pictures posted soon.

thanks to all you lovely ladies for my pep talks and encouragement. you all made some ownderful points. i am taking the veena lessons and i also have premier pole online as it helps me break up my routine some. i am going to try and take some time for myself and get into a routine that i can handle and just have fun. no rush, its not a competition with anyone. i'm my own worst enemy.
@paulette i was teaching here in chattanooga just beginner stuff and running a few parties. things got chaotic and the studio moved so i put all that on hold for school.
@teelee i may have to take you up on the offer to come have a pole jam, its so nice to know there is someone else in chatt. to pole with. im pretty much a beginner myself but i did go to atl to pole la teaz and graduated level 1. maybe we could pop down for a weekend workshop one weekend (or weekday if i know in adv and take pto lol who doesnt love leaving work to go pole?)
again, thanks you all you ladies, i'm gonna make it happen in time

I'll reply I'll reply! LOL First off, I've seen your videos and they are AWESOME! You are doing a great job!
I started off with a couple months of Veena lessons just to see what they were like. Though i enjoyed them, me alone in my living room was a bit depressing 🙂 I decided to take a level one at a studio that is an hour and 45 minutes away. I really enjoyed taking the classes because it put me in a room with other like minded ladies and the support and motivation was awesome. Since I live so far away, I couldn't keep up with the classes and make that drive every week for 8 weeks at a time.
Even though I had been dancing for months, I wanted to see what a class was like from the beginning and was one of the more advanced students. I was given the option to come to an open pole session and "test out" of level 2. I guess it just depends on what the studio does.
If I could go to classes I think I would just to be physcially around more people, but I had found my motivation and like minded people here in you Veeners!
Hope this helps some 🙂
