Pixiefitness,
If you need the steroid shot get it. I’ve had to get them before in the past. In the mean time, wash everything that may be cross contaminated, i.e. what you may have touched when you had the pole physic lotion on. Sheets, clothes, shoes, chairs if your bare legs came in contact. I also have a genetics degree and work in a microbiology lab for a while. Hope this helps! -
Pixiefitness,
That’s the exact kind of reaction I had! You may be allergic to one of the ingredients as well. I’ve started using followed immediately mighty grip just before I pole. Works really well. One of my friends turned me onto it. -
I’m in Cedar Rapids half my weekends to visit my boyfriend. Plus I travel the state for my business. I bring pole parties to rural Iowa.

Me! I’m taking some workshops and am excited to see a couple of my friends compete this year. Are you taking any workshops?

But thanks to my pole collecting it’s making my start up for my pole party business less expensive. I’ve had luck buying used poles from fellow Veeners. In fact I refered two friends recently to look for poles here.

Colored ankle straps i.e. black wear a lot better than clear. And you can make your own glitterized shoes with mod podge and glitter. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Hi Spinnstar!
There is a large group from my studio going and I believe there is still spaces left in our rooms. What day are you arriving?

What about itac2? Or firm grip? We all have our different favorites.

I am interested as well. I just emailed you.

I emailed my boyfriend your link. He knows I've been wanting one for a while and he's a mechanical engineer so I'm sure he could fix it. It's my hint hint for my birthday coming up. Let's see if he takes the hint. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Desirae, They have pole play every Saturday at 10 if you would like to come play. The drop in class rates are 1 for $15, 2 for $25 or 3 for $30. I did the drop in rates at first while deciding which of their classes I liked. Then I bought a membership accordingly. The girls there are really sweet. Come check it out sometime. I'm usually there every Saturday for pole play.

There is also a studio just north of Des Moines in Ankeny. http://tgrfitness.com/ The instruction there is amazing and they are a fraction of the price of Kees. I've done both. Nothing against Kees, they just don't fit in my budget anymore.

I'm from Iowa! I live in Des Moines.

You and me both Desirae! My lack of splits are keeping me out of moves!

Ooo…great thread! A few of my favorites are:

My hubby bought me a huge one for my birthday from a local glass company. Look of glass companies in your area, most likely they also make mirrors. Also, ask is they have an irregular size they can't use. We got a huge discount on a mirror that wasn't quite 6'x6'. I suspect they were making it for another job and didn't cut it correctly.

I have a brass x-pole and I do like it. And yes, it is sturdy. As far as grippiness goes, all brass is different depending on brand since brass is an alloy. I've danced on several different brands of brass poles and all the of them had a different feel. As far as which brand to go with, ask what brand your work and studio use, most companies now make removeable poles for home use. That way you know what "feel" of brass to expect when you get your pole.

Hi Vegan, I have the same problem of overly sweaty hands. I actually layer grip products on my hands to get the desired grip I need. I put a layer of itac2 level 4 on first (which is convienent because I use it on my body) then I put tite grip on over that. As far as finishes go, I have a brass, chrome, and stainless. I find the brass, since it's more porous, will absorb the sweat some. But I really like chrome and stainless for leg and knee pit holds, so it's a toss up.

I have both Ellie and Pleaser shoes. I find that Ellie shoes are wider in general including the ankle so if you have smaller ankles you'll need to make an extra hole punch in the ankle strap. I like pleaser shoes but my toes do peek out extra or hang over a little in peep toe styles (a.k.a. stripper toes). I've found if I'm going for a closed toed shoe or boot in both Ellie and Pleaser to go up a size from what I take in open toed varieties to compensate for this. Hope this helps.

MemberJanuary 6, 2012 at 6:05 am in reply to: Death Lay in general but especially on 45 mmYou can do a death lay on a 45. It just takes practice. If you need to practice your thigh grip I like a move called Flyer, a picture of which can be found here http://www.wikipole.org/. You can get into flyer from an Aysha or handstand if you prefer to practice it low. I agree with dustbunny in getting a friend to help you practice death lay low. It's an intimidating move when you first start practicing it. Best of Luck!
