I’m quite open about the fact that I pole, but I like to have a separate dancer name and fb profile, in part because all things pole gets quite tiresome to those who don’t get it, and I can feel out more about it there. 🙂

There are many whose careers have been or could be jeopardized, and that is the unfortunate reality. I am sure it’s shifting, but change is slow….

If anyone were to google my real name, they’d find me as a certified pole instructor. Not something I thought about when I got it! I’m also surprised comps *require* real names and I wonder why? Definitely prohibiting for someone who doesn’t want their real name out there…..

I believe bad kitty sells those spaghetti string things? I take one per shoe, double it up, and attach the shoes to my feet by tying them round my ankles. I don’t advise dancing without attached shoes. 🙂

  • And that’s a good point–pics are worth a thousand words, aren’t they, and who hasn’t posted photos of moves they want to get!

  • I know, weird, huh?? :/
Maybe some photographers will chime in, I’m not sure how it works generally with regards to copyrights and all.

when did this start? I’ve been on 4 x poles 1.5 years old or less and never had an issue. My pole is 1.5 years old.

Video is always helpful, even if you don’t share it here (but we can help troubleshoot if you do). 🙂

point your index finger down (flip off the floor). it doesn’t appear that your wrist is totally neutral, that adjustment will make it so. Don’t overwork split grip, and make sure you switch sides. Go slow and listen to your body. That’s my best advice.

Can anyone expound on his comments about what he would like to see more of on spin / static? My cold-addled brain can’t think that hard right now 🙂

    Welcome 🙂
If you are looking for feedback on your technique feel free to post a video asking for such. My advice would be to take it slow. As much fun as pole is sometimes we go too hard too fast and get injured. Not worth it! There is lots to learn here, congrats on starting your journey!

I think you’re right, polergirl. I also think the shoes make it worse, because it’s harder. Thanks, I LOVE these shoes! 🙂

THANK YOU! Helpful tips for sure. Glad I’m not the only one with this problem. I tell you–I did not even realize I had this habit. I never do the move in my freestyles because I don’t feel like I can flow into it well (which is want I want to remedy) and I never do it in heels (again, remedy). So recently I did a freestyle and threw that in after the song ended, because I had heels on and wanted to try it in heels, so I got it on video. I will find it and get a screenshot. You will get a good laugh. 😉

As a teacher, I wore ‘full coverage’ shorts and a tank in class. Always. Poling in class in underwear doesn’t seem right. I don’t even do that alone. lol.

Bathing suit bottoms are not considered underwear, I’m sure. However, most suit bottoms show more skin than shorts do….

wow, seems like USPDF was *the* competition to see and be seen. wonder what former competitors and winners think about it all? after all, it gave them a lot of exposure and fame in the pole world!
