@jsheridan…can you tell me more about bikram? is that the hot yoga? wondering because I too have torn both my hamstrings and REALLY want to have them ‘not hurt’. How often do you go? What is it do you think that is most effective in helping them not act up?

don’t know, but following this thread!

I have tried the janeiro off and on…gotta say it’s not a trick I love, but I really like the flag up entry (not that I’ve even successfully done the janeiro from the layback but if I COULD do it, that’s the entry I’d choose). That’s very pretty, Veena!
@polergirl, right! No russian splits for us, lol. I *do* do cupid though, but have also been working on the variation with the bottom leg behind the pole to be able to do it in shoes.

I don’t know anything about char…I assume it requires a laptop?

Chem…I know who to go to for troubleshooting then! Moves I don’t want to learn…any ‘move of the week’.

Chem, I really meant the rolling around on the floor stuff, how hard could that be? 😉 And it appears that being able to push into the floor with one hand would help lift into the moves, but it wasn’t really workin for me!

Do you teach? Is it possible to put on some workshops and do some private or semi-private lessons and packages? I know this is what a lot of teachers do in order to pay travel costs. Or if you don’t teach…picking up a short term part-time gig maybe? GL!!

@adAstra, I was standing up :/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG9XJeIWQ6U
@AerialGypsy-I have contacted snaz and they are contacting pleaser. Only a 90 day warranty and I bought them just over 3 m ago (though wore them only a couple times). We’ll see. I did learn on here that the ‘fancier’ the shoe the easier they break. Geez!!! -
Well, how long have you been doing the TG? Even if you don’t have issues with it now, long tem and repetitive TG use often = shoulder/wrist/forearm issues. I think it’s super important to train other grips in addition. If you’re ONLY doing TG, I think that’s setting yourself up for injury.
-
I don’t teach it and don’t demo it. Students who watch youtube will see it anyway and ask me…then I explain the same things as said here. I rarely do it, but I also take into consideration the diameter of the pole (I wouldn’t do it on a 50 regularly–too much wrist torque).
I agree that often students jump into it too fast–I would train other grips FIRST. That is so, so key, and an indicator of strength and body awareness. I did SG before ever doing twisted. I *cringe* when I see TG being taught as THE FIRST grip for ayesha, and to students way before they are ready.

If you are interested in purchasing one instead of making one (buying one would be cheaper than buying the supplies), PM me. I can make a collapsible hoop that would (hopefully) ship for a reasonable price! I could check postage before you order. 🙂

thanks, korinne, haha, those 708s are the same as my very first pair of shoes, which are still going strong after years! I wish I had thought of that before getting anything more ‘fancy’ (hello, $80 shoes). I will be sticking to the boring shoes from now on. 😉
-
I will be, AGAIN. They replaced my other pair, and I said I hoped it was only a fluke and not an indication that the quality had gone down. Totally crappy.
-
No, not clear. This is my newest pair to break, the previous pair completely snapped off the footbed. And the funny thing? My VERY FIRST PAIR is still just fine. Now THOSE shoes have some mileage.

Which shoes will not break? Both my 8 in and 7 in Pleasers that I bought in the past 4 months broke after only a few wears. I spent too much money to have shoes break before even getting them worn in!
