I did it! I think one of my attempts I started from a sit. I was able to do three hand-over-hands. I was happy with that, but so exhausted I couldn't imagine incorporating that into a freestyle, I was done! Ha.
Amy, off to check out your blog post about it!

Thanks for the tip, hells bells. Can’t wait to try again…

Hey Rikki, yep, love these guns. Lol. Ps, have fun at the workshop this weekend!
-
OK, Rikki, if you think I can! Can I just say that my pole was slippery? Yeah, that was it! LOL.
-
Yep, we're on the same page Rixi–great job! And yes, that's the vid Chem. Must try this again…
-
Yes, the no legs climb…I said one arm b/c of that moment when you’re going hand over hand. I just can’t get over it…amazing!!
-
Well, I had about 20 minutes to myself to pole today, and I did the challenge! It was fun. Thanks for the idea, PDR. 🙂
-
It's awesome! Congrats. 🙂
-
I don't have any ideas, but do you have link to one of Jenyne's climbs? I would love to see it!

I have a great pole space but it requires moving furniture. Would love to have a dedicated pole room! I do have to take at least one pole down to get decent space to hoop. I have 6 feet between poles and can't move well when hooping.

That is a great thread too, RoseMay!
Shona, I have my students work on wall moves, floor moves, transitions, spins, conditioning, balance, core work, combo spins, climbs, musicality….I want students to FEEL. To express themselves, to dance…to be grounded in the earth first. I want them to have platforms to build skills upon, this takes time.
-
I don't know an average, but I've had students poling for over 6 months that are not ready to invert. There is so, so much to learn first.
I'm so glad you asked this question and can correct it. It will be so worth it. Slow and steady is the BEST way to develop excellent habits, control and fluidity (and avoid injury of course). Injuries are not worth the perceived glory of doing something your body isn't ready for.
Good luck, Shona!!

OK, Koba, I can try! You know what I need? I need a harness like luvlee had in one of her vids, except on my hips so that it can hold me while I figure out what goes where!!
-
dang, had never heard of this move before. I want it tooooo! 🙂

Thanks, Chem! 🙂
I just got complimented on my playlist in class again last night, many thanks to all of you sharing your songs!

I couldn't find the Tied my Hands or Turn me to Stone songs, are those the right bands? I added some songs to my wishlist!
Chem, is that the Massive Attack song or a different Paradise Circus?
I'm loving Turbine Womb by Soap & Skin (whoever recommended that one on here–Thank you!), Perfect Darkness by Fink, Faster Kill Pussycat by Paul Oakenfold (feat. Brittany Murphy), When the Stars go Blue, Ryan Adams, Blinding, Florence and the Machine…:)

Here's what I found in a brief search: http://www.livestrong.com/article/173683-what-are-the-benefits-of-coconut-oil-on-the-skin-hair/
Perhaps, as with all things, it depends on the person. It may work for some and not others.
You can always take a spoonful a day and eat it–it's good for ya! I need to get me some more. 🙂

You have to use unrefined CO, like nymph said. AKA extra virgin CO. It is very similar to the skin's natural oils, and should not clog pores. Also, you only use a very small amount. A little goes a long way!

Hooping (hula hoop) would be awesome too. Just find or have someone make (since you can't with a broken wrist!) a 'real' hoop (as opposed to the toy hoops in stores). Great cardio, coordination, etc. HOWEVER, the down side would be that it would be frustrating to start it one-handed, unless you can use your fingers of your broken wrist to help?
Sorry this happened to you, hope it is good as new quickly!

I love it!! Such a pretty move.
I know I'm strong, but I can't see this move happening yet. My list of 'to learn' moves is getting longer, LOL.
