I wonder what happened?? I'd love to do the training if it was offered around here.

@CapFeb–no booty, ever? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I didn't know people felt this way! I just watched Chalese's BSB video and damn, does she COMMAND the booty and accent the music perfectly with the pops! Love it!

I was just coming on here to add add'l thoughts, but mostly it's been covered. 🙂
I would consider WHY you want to teach. After all, once you add up insurance, research, education (ongoing and continuous!), equipment, lesson planning, your time and effort, gas, rent, etc etc…at the end of the day you really have to WANT to teach and have that passion for it.
-
I would say…yes..it's necessary. Others can chime in. I believe the cost is just under $300 (for one year). I would think studios would require you to have it? Their insurance would not cover you in case of an incident.
-
Edit: I mean, if I was teaching private lessons outside of the studio, I'd charge $45+, but I only teach them in the studio.
-
I would highly recommend NOT teaching out of your home, for liability reasons. You will need instructor insurance–make SURE it's specific to pole. You'll also need a waiver for students to sign. Can you find a place to teach in that won't cost so much (ie-in hourly rent of the space) as to make you just barely break even when said and done?
As far as what to charge…what will the market bear? IE-what market are you targeting? Personally, I charge $45 +. If I have to go somewhere and set up a pole, I have to factor that in.
I'll see if I can think of more.

I've 'known' of KT Coates ever since I delved into the world of pole, a good many moons ago, but I've never paid much attention honestly. According to PDC, "KT was an innovator of pole fitness taking away its exotic image and presenting it in a fitness and gymnastic format."
I didn't get into pole for that. I don't pole like that. I like the article quote: "…my heart beats for the glamour."

Can you post a video? That will help. You can always slide your hands down out of the way to get a good knee pit grip.
-
Ooh! I think we need a pic of you wearin' them! 🙂
-
Hey Chem, I just bought my first pair of 8's too 🙂
-
I love this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADs04O9T0Ks
She looks pretty tall, and those are 8 inch platforms!
I've only owned Pleaser and Highest Heel. I wear 8.5 normally and 9's in both those brands. My Pleasers have held up a LOT better than my HH's (though I love the little 'bump' for the toes I won't spend money on HH again since they didn't hold up well).

JH–I have zero motivation to learn the fonji, and even less so now! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

are you ONLY wanting an xpole? asking because there's a lil mynx for sale in your area and LM is a great pole, too. I think it's static only, so if that's not a big deal to you, you might check it out.

OMG!! I am SO sorry. That really just stinks. I can completely understand. 2 months isnt a long time in the scheme of things, but in the moment it is, especially when that's all you want to do! So sorry. Do what you can to keep up strength training. Hope you heal quickly!!

Great thread!
So, polergirl…would love to hear some of your troubleshooting tips for superman! I have found with my students that they tend to get 'stuck' as they try to drop their hips.
EG iron x is my nemesis move right now too. As are deadlift handstands…but I haven't revisited that in awhile. I haven't tried batwing or meathook. How do you get into the meathook?

umm, what?! this video is over a year old, is this really on the market? how have I never heard of this?!

One definition: ath•lete (ˈæθ lit)
a person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, coordination, stamina, or strength. And another: ath·lete (http://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/abreve.gifthhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/prime.giflhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/emacr.gifthttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/lprime.gif)
A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.
I don't consider myself an athlete, I consider myself a dancer. What we do is athletic, yes, but it seems like competing is where the difference lies. Though I still would define myself as a dancer more than an athlete if I competed. Interesting discussion!
